Horrible banking app. I requested many times to link my credit card & personal loan account, still same situation. Today, I talked to staff, she was worse. I was explaining my concern but she was responding in script base, not listening or understanding the concern. She is not for customer service job. Imagine long call waiting to connect with agent and you will get such a staff, who can't able to understand your concern. Finally, when will I able to see Credit card & personal loan in app?

I no longer have the M&S Bank app because is not compatible anymore with my Sansung S8 and couldn't updated.I was also lockout on my on line banking. I am not able to see my statements and balance. I am only paying my Netflix acc with the M&S card. I am just now abroad and just now not been able to contact any help. This is becoming more complicated.

too many distractions

The app doesn't let you know when a statement has been issued, so you could end up with a late payment charge. This is probably intentional by the app to make more money for the bank. I don't want paper statements, but if the app won't tell me when my payment is due then I will have to revert to paper.

can't log on

I was able to log into my banking app until they did an update. I do everything that is asked then I'm supposed to get a code that they send to verify. The code never arrives I have tried everything suggested by M&S support, but still no code arrives. Maybe it's time to end this c/c.

The registration for this app is beyond a joke, submitted everything, says wait for the email or text within 2 hours. 4 days later nothing. I have called support but still stuck in the same 2 hours dialogue lockout. Abysmal app and service.

say you can log on with you 40 long account number but whe you go on you need a ac number and sort code. which I don't have due to it been a loan. also the telephone system is so slow

absolute rubbish, identification doesn't work, unable to paste passwords in during registration, maximum password lengths suggesting they store in plaintext and no ability to use any character you want in a password. in short avoid m&s like the plague. there is also no way to get any form of assistance when with this matter

I only receive shopping on this App.

My previous phone died on me and I am unable to use the screen. Because of this I have had to re-authenticate the app on my new phone via a source of ID. I have tried several times and keep being rejected. You can't log onto your account online, as you need a code from the mobile app. Most stupid set up and you can't get through to anyone by their phone number. Sort it out M&S or I'm taking my business elsewhere.

Can't be installed in android/Google pixel private space making the app less secure.

This is not just any rubbish app. It's an M&S rubbish app. Can't register. Every time I try to register it claims my photo of my ID is too blurry (when it is clearly not). This happens both with passport and driving licence. What makes it worse is that each time you try to register, you have to re-enter all your information, login name password, etc. And fails. Then it says try another way, but gives no instructions on how.

can't even register. apparently I need android 11 or higher (my phone is on android 16). there is no online bank other than app so I can't see my account...wonderful!!!

i am a new user have my card & pin number, downloaded the app and the 1st screen asks if I have a mobile account I said no followed the sign up to be asked for a photo & my 16 digit card & sign in name i don't have one as I cannot get into the app to set it up, there is nowhere to list a photo and proof! i am currently wondering what I am doing wrong and how frustrating it is to set up banking on my brand new account with M&S... Any clues anyone 😱

a total nightmare. I am literally in tears of distress and frustration. I know it is my fault but I cannot remember any of my log in details and I am just going round in endless circles. I admit I am not very good with anything like this and I understand that there is a need for security but I am in total despair. I need to access my credit card account but I find your app totally incomprehensible. I don't even remember ever setting up a 6 digit pin. don't know difference between the two pins

Trying to control what keyboard I use. Won't open the app with open source keyboards but allows Google's compromised tracking keyboard. OK, will close my account and make sure I let people know to avoid. 🙃

I can't access my account because I have my app in a private space on my phone for security reasons and the app wants me to install it in the main space which is less secure.

I cannot get to buy anything with my latest credit card. My tap of the card is refused and when I insert the card, my correct PIN is not allowed to be put in, as it seems the actual card is unacceptable. This has been going on since M&S switched away from Visa. Numerous phone calls have seen M&S staff telling me that a letter from M&S was a fraudulent one, and that the card was blocked when it was not. It is incredibly bad service, and it is extremely difficult to tell them that!!

This app no longer works on my phone so I can't log into my credit card. I've tried logging in online but you need the app to generate a code. I've tried ringing them but they say use the app! What an absolute joke. As soon as I get this sorted I will no longer bank with M&S

why take down app on older phones? Not everyone can change phones to accommodate changes very disgruntled still waiting for reply to this.

Update: most of these are fixed including keyboard, thanks! App stopped working recently because I'm using FUTO keyboard rather than the default. Absolutely ridiculous overprotectionism considering it's privacy focused and doesn't connect to the internet anyway. At least give the option to proceed at one's own risk and actually release useful features to prevent fraud (like freezing a card maybe)?

awful experience. multiple failed attempts to validate my identity, I thought I was doing something wrong.. based on other reviews, I guess not. can not log in to manage my card. app directs to website, which then says it's sent you a code via the app, sending you in to an infinite loop of uselessness. making an app experience this poor is genuinely impressive.

Registration has failed time and time again. I just want to log in to my account!!! Not everyone has access to a smart phone either

updated and my phone running grapheneos is suddenly too insecure for the app. what a joke, the phone is not even rooted and is significantly more secure than most other phones.

Incompatible After app update, poor!!!

doesn't tell me my user name. chat doesn't work. trying to register online results in a loop where it directed me to the app. I want to use the browser interface. this dark pattern is unacceptable. I clicked "register", not "download and use the app". the bank itself is great! oh, and even when using the app it's just broken so there's no way to adjust my direct debit from minimum to a set value, or pay off in full, and the help is a loop back to the app! or a pdf form?! chat is broken too.

The app itself is fine. However, it contains a button to Add your card to Google Wallet. I used this and as a result my card was blocked. I would suggest this button be removed from the app is it is worse than useless.

Unable to login on new phone or on website due to app's utterly useless facial validation process which fails every time regardless whether using driving licence or passport. No clear way to resolve as website login wants code from app which obviously I can't get. Not impressed and very close to closing account which I've had for years.

The app no longer works and the upgraded app is no longer compatible with my phone. So I now have to pay £600 for a new phone just so i can continue to use the app? This is a joke. i see the the developer is 'HSBC Bank'. Since when were HSBC web developers? Who are the real developers hiding behind the name?

Last update (05 Aug 26) now demands a non-rooted device. I have been using the app for a year on the same rooted device and now I am suddenly locked out of being able to pay my credit card. I will be paying my balance in full and cancelling the card.

Redirects to website which then tells me that online banking is not working (again), "Please try again later." So frustrating.

I had to install the app on my personal work phone and also had to uninstall two apps in order to get this one to work properly. This is just ridiculous I've never seen any other app do this nor go to this extreme. Please update your app to work correctly with all apps installed (yes, they are safe).

Awful, at least it failed quickly. I couldn't get past entering my DoB. , following which it simply said "something went wrong" and took me back to the initial screen. Same thing each time I tried.

M&S just switched off support for graphene OS. No notification. So in essence they lost a customer, cutting the cards up bye bye M&S, expect a call from me tomorrow. Would rate ZERO stars if available.

Unable to even get set up. Tried to get this app set up many times over several years as the phone line charges and the waits are awful. It just loops me round and round in circles no matter what customer services suggest. Years ago I had to close my M&S back account because it was inaccessible and that took me 2 years. Had my credit card about 25 years now and seriously thinking of getting another card now. my mum had the app working but is now locked out for having no photo ID thats current

I was unable to download the new app as it not compatible with my phone. I phoned the helpline to pay the balance and close my account with M&S. Sorry to have to do that as I have used the banking app for years

Doesn't work in Pixel Private Space, and says to remove all other Private Space apps. What kind of stupid take on security is that from your team? Private Space was created for scenarios like banking apps, to improve security. Why you would code an app to intentionally not work with it, is quite frankly beyond comprehension. If this isn't resolved in the coming months, I'll look at alternative banks to take my business to.

Utterly useless. I have a 14 digit loan reference and cannot register for internet banking. I've never had such a woefully inadequate internet banking experience. If you're at the point where you need to download this app, you've already made a mistake. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. Given 1 star because I can't give 0.

WHY can I only carry out credit card functions on the app, of which I had to dig out an unused tablet to download on. trying to carry out a balance transfer but the on screen buttons are greyed out - being told to scroll to read t&Cs but button won't go green to be able to move on to next stage. reloaded app to no avail. infuriating. don't take out an m&s credit card would be my suggestion.

I need a new phone for this app

Total waste of an app, have tried multiple times to register and activate my new credit card, can only get past the credit card and date of birth screen, it then tells me I'm unable to register and after 3 times of putting in the correct details it locks me out! Have then tried phone support after this, just about everything on the website and phone support tells you to use the app which I can't. I'm struggling to even cancel my credit card now because I physically can't activate it!

Pure Genius -During a purchase, App insisted on upgrading whilst opening and apparently my phone is now not compatible with the new App. So how do I now use online banking - good thinking, what idiot thought of that? Consequently can't use the App anymore. What a great way of retaining your older more affluent clientel M&S. Note that older clientele (which are a greater part of M&S), keep their phones much longer and don't upgrade every year. Don't suppose that occurred to you?

Difficult to use with poor chat support. Now my phone no longer supports this app and when I try to contact M&S I get stuck in a loop which tells me to use the app to contact them. How do you do that when the app has stopped working?

Anti root for supposed security reasons but yet collects your data and sells it, make it make sense. Explain it like I'm a 5 year old. Stick to selling overpriced food, it'll work better.

Pay by bank is good and is useful. However the instructions for setting up a direct debit are wrong - no option I can see under 'more' as it suggests in the guidance. Would like to see real time txns/balance also.

I have always used the M&S app to pay my credit card but now it says its no longer compatible with my phone 🤬 I will be cancelling my card & account with M&S & going with another provider, they have just lost a 20yr loyal customer.

can't view loan statements on the app and can't setup direct debits on the app. Very weird that this functionality is omitted. highly annoying. the chatbot is also pretty useless.

Why has M&S Bank chosen to make the app incompatible with Android 10, when all my other banking apps still work perfectly? Let's put in all the new shiny stuff just because we can, and to hell with the customers.

Very poor app. Why does it have to be so difficult to access you're own finances? The recent update now means I'll need to replace my phone to use it at all! Yet none of my other apps or bank accounts require this. Only gave 1.star because you can't give zero! You can do so much better M+S (if you wanted to)
