tried to pay Simple Assessment dues for 2025/6, but the option isn't anywhere to be seen! .. and, yes, I just updated to the latest version! ☹️.. don't you want our money?

Total disaster. Could not sign in. They told me to use this app, but provide no mechanism for me to use it. Got passed around departments trying to resolve. All no help.

utterly useless now because you can't login anymore since the latest update without going through the one gov app first... WHICH DOESNT LET YOU LOG IN ON SAMSUNG BROWSERS. Tax rebate was easy to apply for and arrived in my bank account within a few days.

The sign in process for different services is frustrating. It sends you in loops only to be told you cant access information on one type of log in, even though they know its you. Poor user experience.

"browser is not supported" message when trying to sign in..... (because i use Brave). So i enable chrome just to sign in and then find that once i'm in and surfing around it's very happy to open links in Brave. Why? seems to be easy to use and navigate so no issues there.

Very flaky app. Based on random number generation by flaky staff and systems!

It was very difficult to set up and had many technical errors; after 25 minutes, I scanned my passport 3 times and added my details 4 times, but still could not manage to log in.

Can't access the app because "your browser is not supported". It seems only a very small selection of browsers, none with strong privacy functions, are supported. And as I can sign into the HMRC website using the same browser, it's completely inconsistent.

why this app only work in ios or nfc enabled phone why not in android 10+ version.

Major problems logging in to the app after the latest update. I had a passcode and biometrics all enabled, but after the update I'm taken round in endless circles with Government Gateway, text codes and pass codes. Never had this trouble before.

Nearly every important link you need to see is coming up stating that the pages are failing to load

every time I want to login the app ask me to do Gov.uk login and verified my identity and when I done everything correctly the app telling me to use my Gatway Id that Galway ID I already forgot it long time ago .and now I have chosen to log in by Gov.uk one login, but it took me to the same page

Might as well use the web as this is where the app redirects most of the time. Neither use nor ornament.

a pain to log in using the one login method, doesn't give enough time to open the auth app, get the code... First time I used it wasn't able to get past the first screen, instead got a something went wrong message, not impressed.

doesn't open through ecosia browser. worked fine for the last years now won't open though my chosen browser of ecosia.

Total rubbish! I cannot speak to a human to advise them of a mistake with my Tax Code which has been changed for no valid reason whatsoever. This tax code change has caused me issues and a wrong payment amount being sent to me in my wages! I am worse off now than I was beforehand! Why am I bothering to work?

my telephone conversation last week was very helpful. the customer service advisor was extremely patient and helpful

signed up the gov one, now unable to access any services, I just get sent in an endless loop of signing in

I hate that it exists but I have to confess the app is OK.

It's ironic that they offer this app for people who are getting older and are interested in their state pension but the app doesn't support older phones. So I can't get it, so will go back to being in the dark

Uninstalled. The blinkered attitude meaning that I have to use one of three browsers is ridiculous. Suspicious that the "app" is not an app at all then, just a gateway to a browser.

Pointless app - unable to claim a tax refund. I was directed by the Gov website to download this app in order to claim a tax refund after paying too much through PAYE last year. The app keeps sending back to the website or the useless digital assistant (which directs me back to the website), creating an endless loop that leaves me unable to claim a tax refund online. Why create an app, if my only option to claim a refund is to download and complete a paper form and send it in the post.

terrible experience, expect nothing less from HMRC, these people can't comprhend user accessibility and when you view their responses to reviews its the usual political response that never takes responsibility.

Absolute disaster. Government apps are usually bad, but this HMRC app takes the cake! The PAYE page used to show the tax owing but that no longer works and in its place is a message telling me i I have no taxable income! Which is wrong as I do have a letter saying I owe tax. There used to be a link allowing me to pay the tax which has disappeared. I called admin. but no no one was able to help,kept fobbing me off to various departments, if you have time to waste call them! Waste of time.

It makes lots of false claims for what it can do, but really just refers you to a browser...

This app is worthless. It does not sign you in reliably, it rejects valid login credentials, it keeps looping. Terrible. Use your PC instead.

Like everything HMRC.. IT is very poor. Whats the point of setting up a PIN if you have to go thru the Gateway etc every time🤦. This app looks half hearted and is just a portal to a very bad website

Straight forward to use. The verification by my mobile phone suits me because I don't mind reading text. The phone is a small £23 Nokia pay as you go through Azda and has been simple to keep in a bag with me. This method works nicely, thankyou. KWH. 08/09/2026

Easy to use system

App no longer works. Updates now enable trackers and no longer run on devices not using browsers to enable this.

What is it about HMRC? Whatever you try to do with them they are utterly useless. Their telephone operators do not know how to make basic tax calculations . Their office staff seem unable to write coherent letters and downloading the App is proving impossible.

Doesn't work with Firefox as the default browser. Not usable for me.

Used to be a great app. Now it just asks you a thousand times to log in to tell finally tell you that you can't log in with new details, which you didnt want to create in the forst place.

We should have option to signin with sharecode because I don't have BRP or driving licence and I can't access the app. It should have other identity verification options.

Does not work with the most secure GrapheneOS anymore. Says "Browser not supported" in the app. There is no way I am buying another phone just to use HMRC, and because of the recent changes I cant login without creating an account using mobile, talk about catch 22.

not able to contact HMRC through the app, AI chat pretty useless, hard to navigate, design to make everything hard. eventually you need to make a call and waste 1-2hrs....

Keeps logging you out, contains barely any functions and sends you to login to the exact same thing online only to log you out and forget all of your information including your pin up to 15 times both on the app and website before it understands you've just filled a form out and want to press submit (thankfully it forgot every single thing I wrote in that gigantic form 6 times in a row as well) I'm about to lose my mind with this. What a mess. Not just the app but the entire website

Broken a perfectly good app. you could log on with biometrics no issues, see letters tax code wages, now it just links to the government website so no point in the app when all it does is take you straight out of the app, and then makes you go round in circles trying to login

Cant even use this because all of my ID is in my new last name, which ive had over a decade, because its not technically on my NI number, no option to show my deed poll like literally every other government website or app. No option to upload other documents to prove you are who you are either.

Inconsistent Switches to browser operation in part. I though it was an App. The App does not remember pin or biometric choices. So far the app's a waste of time. Old fashioned having to still use password rather than passcodes and/or biometrics. It's much simpler using the website.

Because I use Edge as my browser (which is Chromium based), and do not want to install Chrome/Firefox, I cannot log in. That's madness.

bad service if you need to call. I've waited an hour before getting through and quite often you get disconnected and they don't call back. some excellent customer care people, some however are dumb and they are the ones that disconnect on purpose

It just sends you around in circles. What a waste of time. I sign in, go to the section I need, and it asks me to log in again for security. After logging in, it takes me back to the home page. There are links to youtube videos for help, but they look nothing like the website/app.

Probably the worst organisation I have had the misfortune to deal with , I contacted them in March 2025 regarding a tax issue , I am still waiting for them to respond despite tier 1 and tier 2 complaints , they are an absolute joke.I don't know how they are allowed to get away with this shambolic service.

appealing experience, couldn't create a login even though I have a gateway account, kept going round in circles when I tried to create a pin. zi have now given up and deleted the app. Typical tax office bureaucracy, definately not user friendly.

So downloaded the app to my sony and honour v3 phones and the app shows how much tax i pay on the wages i have earned and works pretty well, i found setting up the government gateway information on my laptop years ago helped me sort out the app quicker on my phone as my login details have been sitting online for years, setting this up initially on my laptop much easier than using a phone but now i am more mobile need the phone app to keep an eye on my tax affairs and the app does this well.

I don't understand why Gov IT systems are always so poor. The integration between systems is terrible. You cannot use the Government One Login app (which has already made me jump through hoops to get indentified) because HMRC want you to use a different app GOV.UK ID Check (WHY?!) Download/install ANOTHER Gov ID app and run through EXACTLY the same process (using identical systems and checks!) Even when you get into the HMRC app it mostly redirects you to HMRC webpages! Ridiculous app.
