Horrible App!!! Paid good $ for a book. There is no way to go to a page or chapter. I literally have to swipe back & forth through hundreds of pages!!!!! JUST HORRIBLE

I tried this app again. I just could not settle to reading a book, the line spacing was much too wide and NOT adjustable. I HAVE UNINSTALLED IT YET AGAIN!

I really dislike this app. I can't access a book from Libby on the app unless it has already been downloaded on the Kobo device, which is inconvenient if I don't have the device with me. If you buy digital books from Kobo it may work, but I borrow digital books from Libby. When I sent this feedback to the company, they suggested I read my books on the Libby app! Extremely unsatisfactory response. Syncing also sucks from device to app when reading books borrowed from Libby. I hate it!

i found this book quite unreadable!

It is nearly impossible for me to use my phones back and home buttons in the app. I have to try a few times to get the notifications open in order to use them. Dev. recommended uninstalling and reinstalling which helped a tiny bit but the buttons are still hard to use as they disappear in milliseconds. I recommend they increase the time before they disappear.

Does't download dictionary and translator

another wonderful story by Becca Jameson. I really enjoyed the interaction between Scythe and Winnie, drama, smexy times, innocence and love abound in this book.

Going back on anything is terrible with the app. It is impossible to click the back button once you are reading a story and when searching in the store itll actually send you back to the menu instead of the previous page.

this is a good app to read Kobo books in alternative to Kindle. It can have cheaper book versions . It does at times freezes when opening a book for me though. I have quite of a new phone.

I love my Libra colour reader but for audiobook I use the app on my phone. And carry on books when I forgot my reader, the synchronisation system works pretty well.

kobo app will not keep my audiobook progress, have to search through the chapters to find my place everytime I re-open the app

meh, when accidentally pressing any button in the UI causinf navigation elsewhere in a book there is no way to get to the furthest point one has read to. no bookmarks in audiobooks, extremely annoying.

Book search has no context or selection filter criteria. If i select audio books and search, still returns a list of ebooks. Sometimes there is an audiobook in the list. Cannot buy books within app using Bank QR codes. Approves, fails to complete every time. Takes money from my account, then eventually launders it back to Google pay. Use web browser is the close problem solution but i'd suggest removing QR code from options is the actual solution if the payment platform wont authorise them.

Every day at random it resets your audiobooks back to the beginning. This is extraordinarily frustrating. I havent been able to get through one book without it resetting the book randomly. Definitely going to be canceling my subscription. Don't download this app unless you are willing to have to try remember where you were with your book at any given point.

I signed up for a trial of kobo plus yesterday, already disappointed!! I started an audiobook yesterday and this morning it reset back to the beginning!!

Has many nice features, like the dictionary. Improvements I'd like: to be able to go much dimme, and brightness adjustment by sliding the side of the screen. There are also some rare text issues, where a section goes off screen and i need to switch to vertical scrolling to read it.

Awful app. Utterly, malignantly useless. I'm simply trying to switch Google accounts, and the app cannot even do something as basic as that. I've had bowel movements with more intelligence.

I write this review in the spirit of a constructuve criticism, hoping for novel implementation. regarding the mobile app there are far too many bugs: 1. the screen needs to be on impacting on batteries and the pleasure of reading. When in read out loud mode there should be the posssibility to lock the screen off and continuing listening. when reading from the app it should prevent screen locking. 2. the app sinc the page read on my kobo device, but the contrary is not true. 3. buy and sinc issu

good and bad, sometimes it misses out pages of books. Which is not very good. most of the time it runs smoothly.

I can't download ebooks that I preordered to my mobile app.

poor function with audiobooks. constantly app crashing and losing place for audiobooks.

I find I am reading much more now as the e-book is easier to read. I can even highlight the passages for review in my bookclub. I wasn't finishing the books as it's harder for me to see the book pages now.

This used to be my favourite ebook reader. Since the October 2026 update, it blanks out and disables the 3 vital buttons at the bottom of the screen, loses the place in the book and makes even its own menu all but inaccessible. I do hope they fix this.

App stole my money and didn't give me the book I paid for! And the "repair your account" function doesn't do anything either. This app sucks.

would be 4 stars if the app offered the same reading experience on my BOOX Note Air 5c than on my phone. Alas almost all the reader options are missing except the font size.

Editing my review, the app was stick on loading screen for days. I uninstalled and reinstalled, and per customer support cleared the cache and the data yesterday and it still didn't work and then this morning it started working and I got the login screen. The customer service reps responded timely and my issue is resolved. Overall, I love the app and kobo in general.

Needs a fully offline mode. I expect that if I've downloaded my books to the device, I shouldn't need Internet access to open the app or to go past the next page if it contains an image.

I'm an immersive reader and need the words to be highlighted as read aloud. The Kobo system does not allow for this like Amazon's whispersync does. If y'all make that an option, I would definitely pay for the subscription and use Kobo.

I've just switched to Kobo and I am really enjoying the experience and the great selection of books!

I love kobo, prices are great, I find I can easily sync across all my devices and story graph. I just wish there was a 'block author/book' or 'already own' button, so that it stops recommending me books by authors I dislike, or books I own elsewhere. I find it really annoying having to scroll past books I either don't want or own and struggle to find brand new books

Works well, but I wish it would be updated so I can write on the books with a stylus like the apple app :(

The Kobo app doesn't support continuous scrolling, which I need for comfortable reading on my e-reader (Onyx Boox). I spent over an hour and different apps trying to make this work, and I still can't read a book I paid for. Whoever figures out how to let people read a book they bought on any device, with any app, is going to win the whole e-book market. For me, this product is unusable.

Amazing reading app so far, I've merely had it for about 2 days however. I do kind of wish it had a better assortment of French literature and nonfiction however if you are (i assume like me) here for English literature, recently published literature or even to discover the newest pièces you'll be pleased. It works as well as any ereader plate-forme tbh.

app is now different, but it will not let ,e mark as red and filter by unread so that they dissappear from the reading list.

I would like to be able to highlight on multiple pages at once. Also I have to close the app every time I exit out of it if I want to get back in. I can't bookmark an audiobook either so it's very easy to lose my place, especially when the book starts over for no rhyme or reason. Update: tried uninstalling and reinstalling. it didn't solve the problem.

I cannot exit the app without turning off my device....

My Kobo Clara is versatile. I can borrow e books from library & bought books are cheaper. It fits in my jacket pocket, but if I don't have it with me, my books are on my phone (& on my laptop). It sits comfortably in my hand, I can read in bed without disturbing my partner, I don't lose my page if I fall asleep. I can make notes & increase the font.

everytime I open the app to listen to my audiobook, it restarts the audiobook. it's starting to get really frustrating searching through the chapters to find the part I left off on previously.

I mostly love the app and prefer the access as opposed to audible however the app can be frustrating as it will randomly close and when that happens the book is always thrown back to the beginning. I was also having issues downloading my audiobooks, I uninstalled and reinstalled the app. this did fix my downloading issue however it completely cleared out my Library which I had almost 40 books saved in.

Love this app. Compared to other more popular ones this app has all the well know books for free where the other one you have to buy them even with a subscription. Very large library and so many in audiobook format. Glad I choose this app.

The most sane bookstore. It looks to me like they manage the listings to avoid AI slop, unlike other major storefronts. Customer service has been great, with responsive people solving my problems for real. The reader app is quite good, allowing a range of useful fonts and settings and letting you configure them as a default.

Been with Kobo for many years. Never any issues. Great service. Vast and excellent choice of books.

it's hard to navigate and browse which books are included in the kobo plus subscription. The included books are rather lackluster.

The service is nice but the app feels like it's held together with duct tape. Annoying to search things because of the UI or the app crashing. Most egregious of all is how frequently it enjoys deleting all my progress on an audiobook.

When the narrator is good, these Kobo audiobooks are great!

I've been using this app for years and been happy with it. Recently I can't read Kobo books on my android device because a notice remains on the surface announcing that my books are being migrated, apparently to a new updated version. I'm told/warned it may take several minutes. This has lasted a very long time, months maybe. I can read books just fine on my Kobo Clara Colour reader, but sometimes I would really like to read my Kobo books more clearly in the light on my Android readers.

loses your page and can't sync with ereader... later ... it gets worse. I preordered a book that just got released. And it never showed up. It turns out the app can't do preorders, either. It just says you can.

It's an excellent app. It would be much better if it had an auto-scroll feature. Also, the book covers don't appear.

The audiobook player is very disappointing. It has repeatedly reset to the start of the audiobook, caused the app to crash when trying to browse other books while listening, and rarely remembers your place if you shut down the app. I'm currently on a free trial, and I don't think that I will continue the subscription after the trial period. The reading function seems to be fine, which is why I gave 2 stars instead of 1.

please bring back the widget for the current reading book.

The android version has a couple serious deficiencies for importing books. When I import from OneDrive, the app only allows me to select one book at a time. When I select a book and add it, it returns back to the settings menu instead of staying in the folder that contains my books. ONE BOOK AT A TIME! There is a search feature. But it searches the entire OneDrive instead of the folder I am in. And it does not allow wild card searches or search by file type like .epub.

Update: The new app works without internet connection (at least for a period of time; I assume it requires a periodic connection). But anyway it's usable on airplanes and camping and etc. now. They've also added qol features such as more fonts and backgrounds. Still has some work to do, such as adjusting bumper width for turning pages, reopening last book automatically, book shortcuts, etc. I haven't had a chance to see if they fixed the footnotes. Nice work, my opinion has totally reversed!

Same old news!!! Drop it and open a book on Kobo. On the couch or waiting in a line it's always right there on the phone.

The app works great, the book selection is vast and the subscription is very reasonable.

Im only on free trial but will definitely cancel. Audio book takes you back to the start everytime the app closes. You can't even bookmark which in my opinion is a basic but needed feature.

I deleted the kobo app as it was not working but now I am unable to download it again. It now says that my mobile phone is no longer compatiblHow can I use the new download app as I have many ebooks that I can no longer read.

Main issue is that audiobook playback keeps resetting back to the beginning if I pause and change apps. Let's say I come back 2 hours later - suddenly the audiobook reverts back to the beginning. I'm guessing it's an issue with how often it syncs with downloaded audiobooks. Getting quite annoying to be honest and if this continues, I probably won't renew my plan. Update: tried to repair account, nope. Deleted app and reinstalled. Now I can't access my account or reset my password

Books from my library just fail to download. The previews of books are very short.

I like to be able to look for whatever book I want to buy and read it on my Android device whenever and wherever I want. October 2026 with the latest update I have chapters that don't advance and worse jump all over the place. Typical downgrade App performance

No surprises really, some insights into thoughts of a psychologist set in a cosy murder mystery. Reasonably entertaining but not as clever or funny as Bob Mortimer or Richard Osman.

as of October 2026, while the app is no longer as clunky and slow, going to actually read a book is obnoxious for me, as there's now a thick black bar at the bottom (my navigation bar for my device) that covers how many pages are left and is thoroughly distracting from the actual book as i keep hitting it and closing my app as I am reading. I do otherwise enjoy the concept of the app. Uninstalling and reinstalling do absolutely nothing but get rid of all my annotations and ARCs.

It's mostly good. I use it when I don't feel like carrying my ereader to work. It's also better to write annotations in than the ereader since its faster. The only downside is that lately when I try to write annotations on my phone, the text is blocked by the UI and I can't read it back until I reopen the highlighted note.

VERSION 8 REMOVES ALL THE WIDGETS EXCEPT ONE. I'm glad I had a backup for version 7. Aside from removing features, this is a decent eBook service. Updating to v8 had removed the widgets. Bookmarks never seem consistent across devices. I mostly use this on my tablet

I love this app. you get just as much spicy authors as Amazon audibles, but without "credits" and it's unlimited. only downfall I've found is they need to have more complete series from booktok aka tiktok authors. I love that fact I can read n listen to the books/series from these authors. as I like both. I keep track of where I'm at when reading n when I need to " adult" switch to the audible. vs with the reading. it's great. I like how you can make suggestions too.

I stopped using this app 2 months ago because there was no longer a way to do global import of books. so it would take me hours to do them one by one. you have done nothing to respond to the feedback., why not? I want access to the books I have paid for to read on other, better, apps or my money back plus interest or you will hear from my lawyers, you are crooks

this is incredible! audible is far to expensive and I know tons of ppl are switching to kobo . it doesnt run on credits! I will keep an subscription as long as they keep running the way they are and not on credits.

The new app is awful, Ive had nothing but trouble, support responds promptly with apologies yet nothing is fixed. Audiobook is not saving progress and keeps going back to start of book when I re open app. It frequently crashes, books won't download, the search functions are terrible. I have repaired and uninstalled twice Im at point of cancelling my subscription as reading is not a pleasant experience anymore.

kobo plus is so much cheaper than kindle and audible put together I love it so much

awful app. it is really just a browser for their website but it's riddled with bugs and slow. there isn't much functionality in it at all.

It's annoying that it's still full of bugs despite a lot of people repeatedly reporting the issues with the new interface, and the f***king updates are so slow and don't have any noticeable changes.

I have a credit card set up on my kobo account, so that I can buy direct from my ereader - that works great. But if I want to buy a book from the app, because I don't have my reader with me, it insists on trying to use Google play for payment, and always selects the wrong account, that doesn't have a card attached. Either let me switch Google account, or use the damn payment method I already have setup on my kobo account!

Audiobook Feature is horrible. I pay for Kobo unlimited for the audiobooks, but every time I leave the app and go back in the audiobook starts from the beginning! That is so infuriating. And it ALWAYS happens.

doesn't work offline. I wanted to read my downloaded books on a cruise. the app wouldn't even load up unless I was online after their latest update. don't waste your money.

Love my Kobo. I have one on cell, tablet, laptop and I have one of the original Kobos. I always have one with me.

Its not the novels fault, but when you the license provider removes randomly the nsfw parts and one epiloge ( number 3) what people are suppose to do.. I loved the series from beginning to the end just to learn at the end why there were soke awkard and inconsistent parts in this last volume.

As of the latest version of Android 17, this is nonfunctional. I have tried clearing the app cache, clearing storage, and even uninstalling and reinstalling it. I used to enjoy this app, but it's no longer in a usable state.

Well designed app. Excellent selection of audio and eBooks. (Except now I'm having trouble finding titles that will allow me to use my credits. I feel like a bunch of titles were recently removed from the credits program.) App crashes pretty often and doesn't estimate reading speed well. Highlighter function is very clunky. I love Kobo, but the app is just glitchy.

Despite some of the terrible things that happen in this story, to Mabel and those around her, this book is laugh out loud funny and a very easy read. Emotionally there are some really shocking events that will catch you totally off guard and break your heart which is contrasted with the more inevitable "twists" that seemed obvious to me as I read. I loved Mabel. Loved the way it was written. Great contrasts and utterly human

great Audible alternative

Incredibly frustrating attempt to sign up for Kobo plus to get an audio book. Over a week of cancelling and resubscribing and to this date Kobo was not able to understand what I was trying to do. Never did get anything other than reading version no matter how many times I cancelled and tried again.

Mostly okay, but with many quirks. Font size is not always sticky. Selecting text for highlighting is clumsy and dissociated from the selected text. Crashes or freezes every few days.

It's ok, but needs a clearer way to filter for only DRM-free books. Edit: It is DELIBERATELY HIDING DRM status in listings now. Books shown on the Kobo web store as e.g. "EPUB3 (Adobe DRM)" only show "EPUB3" on the app. It's deliberately hiding DRM. I am furious, I just paid more than I usually would for a book because I chose to support DRM free books, then I found out it's DRM'd after all. I've demanded a book refund, but this isn't acceptable. Edit: LOL and meaningless bot review auto-reply.

sofar I do like alot of the fetchers accept that I can't change any language settings. I get a lot of recommendation in a language I don't enjoy reading.

I've had this app for years. It has never crashed. All of the features work as advertised. It provides four color schemes, margin settings, line spacing, ragged right or fully justified, bookmarks and annotations. Old faithful.

I really love Kobo!! The price is sooo much better than other apps. There is so many books to read and there is a lot of audiobooks also.

It keeps sending my audiobook back to the beginning of the book. I'll switch back over to the open app and when I hit play instead of playing chapter 12 for example, it starts playing the intro again and I have to find my way back (without bookmarks!) hoping I don't get spoilers. It's happened many times in the last few weeks. The app is updated, I tried clearing my cache, and I uninstalled and reinstalled it but it's still doing it. I like the app but this is making it unusable.

They really need to do something about the ai "art" and the ai "books". I want to read real things that people have wrote, with real covers that people have designed. Won't be changing my review while that slop is still on there

I love Kobo because I have mobility issues and I don't have access to driving to bookstores even though that's my favorite thing to do. I love reading and browsing through books looking for something new. With Kobo I can spend a whole evening looking at books.

Love it!!, I tried a few others. But for what I was looking for,Kobo was perfect. Great price and selection . I love to read a hard cover book and also use the audio book when I work out . Kobo has been great , I think I'm going to stick with it.

kindle is much better and easier to use..it has features that are missing in this app , such as the translation to Arabic feature

Hyperlinks in books don't work in app. My Bibles work fine on my ereader but In the app, you can get to the book {eg Psalms) but not to the chapter within the book. Please, please fix this. Kobo currently has a good chance of beating Kindle. Don't let the app fall short. We want you to win!

Good app, but could use an improvement with the apps "back" button. Would be useful if it went back to the list of books displayed (which I'd searched for) instead of going all the way back to the search again feature.

I really enjoy this series from Darcy Rose. This one is quirky, funny and a quick read. Just enough to lighten your day and bring laughter to it. There are always a cute kid or animal in these stories, and this time it's Socks the Rabbit, who has attitude. Stella is adorable and so is Tristan in an enforcer type way, they just get each other. I received an ARC from the author and this is my genuine review.

page turning is maddeningly allow. makes the app almost unusable.

Search is terrible, app slow and crashes, trying to find info about an edition is really unintuitive (if it's in translation I want to know who translated it!), "play sample" for audiobooks barely works... A huge let-down given how lovely my physical Kobo reader is.

Has made it simple for me in catching up with ideas and authors from a while back.

Excellent choice of available books. Easy to use reader app for the phone/tablet screen. Could improve how it tracks the page you are on as it sometimes loses place when switching devices. Personally I'd like it's text rendered closer to the edges of the phone screen to keep more text on the screen.

They claim Harry Potter is free with Kobo Plus but IT IS NOT. It is $45. immediately cancelled. DECEPTIVE PRACTICES!!!!

Can you add an option to disable loading animations on startup? It's an accessibility issue.

Everything you thought you knew about Columbine is wrong. Fascinating deep dive into myth-making, 24/7 news media spin, administrative cover-up, and the psychology of tragedy. Interesting cadence, jumping between before, during and after. A great read. eBook format can make navigation a challenge, especially given the past/present/future structure, when you might wish to go back to a previous chapter to review a detail.

I'm absolutely incensed. Ive used Kobo for YEARS and have a multitude of audiobooks that I spent time and money compiling. Suddenly, they would no longer download onto my device, or only download partially. After 50+ emails with Customer svc, noone can fix the issue and I cannot enjoy my library AT ALL. I've tried everything(literally every means of troubleshooting),even installing the app on multiple devices. This app is broken and I'm devastated to not have access to my books. FIX YOUR APP!!

I had no issue with this app until the last update removed the widget. Navigating the app for audiobooks without it is incredibly cumbersome, and when I emailed support to ask if it was possible to get it back, all I got was a generic AI response that had nothing to do with my request. Would be nice for a human to look into it, but I guess I pay so much money just to speak to a bot.

this comment is not about the book or audiobook content, but more on the app itself, in what world would one just want to search the book by keyword? what about category? what about language? why cant just give more filter options? and what about sort by publication date or relevance? when I was using the search function it really makes me wonder what year are we in now, I was intended to subscribe to kobo plus but this app really stopping me from doing so

I am extremely impressed with Kobo Books. I have had to call their customer service department a couple of times over small issues. They have been courteous and very helpful. They answered my questions and was able to resolve my issues.

Answer to reaction: I have, but that doesn't take away the fact that once the app is open I cannot navigate.The sync is only correct on the e-reader. And no I don't have Facebook nor Twitter. Fix the app! I reinstalled and it opens saying 14 % read I close and open again and it's on 32% read. This app is very confused

So good I had to read it all over again.

this app was a bit dumb. if you search for a book, then click on one of the books, then decide it's not the right book, you can no longer go back to the search results. if you go back, the search results are gonna and you have to redo your search.

when I close the app and go back in, the book starts again and I have to find where I think I was up to

listen and read idea is cool. but app is very luggy and book collection is poor

Lots of choice - easy to purchase & download - got it on my phone & laptop. Slightly expensive system as difficult to share. One suggestion: list prize-winning books - I like to keep up with latest Bookers, for instance but have to ask Google for guidance & precis!

This COULD be a great app, but stupid problems hamper it. Search for a keyword ("sailing" in my case). You get a lit of books. Click on or to see the details. Go back. Dark reading mode has one glaring flaw - for a split second, a book will be opened in light mode, turning the display into a giant flash. i have learned to turn the screen face down right after opening a book at night...

Ever since the latest major app update, listening to audiobooks through Kobo has become a miserable experience. Now, every time I pause the book and come back to it, it's a coin flip as to whether I can pick up where I left off, or whether the book has inexplicably been reset to the beginning. I'm a few hours into my current book and my progress has been reset three times today. I'm considering cancelling my audiobook subscription as a result. ETA: I tried repairing the library. It didn't work.

Lately having this issue on the Phone app, with books that I've already purchased.《Oops! Downloading Paused : It looks like there's a problem with your internet connection. Please check your connection and try again》. There's nothing wrong with my internet, I've also tried clearing cache and removing and redownloading the app

One of the clunkiest apps I've used. Constantly freezes or crashes. Takes forever to load anything. Payment regularly fails. Basically the only thing going for it is that it means I can buy ebooks without using Amazon.

The most recent update seems to have bugged all my audiobook lengths, chapter timings, etc.

The lack of cover view option in the library section makes it very tedious to scroll when I have a lot of books to choose from.

kobo app on my phone use to work but about 2 months ago the search field doesn't work correctly. I uninstalled my app and sent feedback on the kobo website but it's still not fixed. will be cancelling as it's impossible to find books and audiobooks on app.

Great if you like ebooks and would like to help Amazon as little as possible. Kobo plus is cheaper than Kindle unlimited and has some great books at least in the horror genre, probably the others as well.

every time the app closes, my audiobook starts over. Gave up listening for a month and once I'm done with this book I'm canceling my account. not worth the irritation of searching through the book 6+ times a day just to find out where I'm at in a book

The "Oops! Connection Issue" message is getting really annoying. I have tried clearing the cache and have uninstalled and reinstalled and the issue still persists.

Choice of books is pretty good. lack of an option to keep the screen on for longer like almost every other reader app makes me not want to use the app or buy anything using it. if I could download an epub and read it in another app, I would, and would be likely to buy more. but Adobe digital editions is it's own ball of wax to do that
