nook you app is a little glitchy. Everytime I back out of a book lately it loses my page. Going back like 3 chapters. please work on this.

I've used it for years with no Issues. Now, it always shuts down.

cannot even sign in. it automatically signed me out when I tried searching store for book. now I can't even sign in. tried changing wifi networks, tried restarting tablet, app up to date, tablet up to date, etc.

a little slow, a little lagged. but good other than that

latest version of the app runs terrible now. constantly having "internal error" which bricks the app and even after reinstalling, books are stuck as "preorder" and will not download even though the release dates have long since past. the app is becoming more problematic overtime regardless if using older or newer device.

the new version gets hung and the pages won't turn. I often have to get out of the app or even reboot my tablet

I understand why I can't pay in the app, but I purchased a book two days ago and it still hasn't been available on my app. Previously, I pre-ordered a book and it didn't show up on my app for three days after the release date. If I can't read it after I buy it, what's the point of the app?

I've been using this app for 10 years now, and in that 10 years, the bug where your Theme changes refuse to save still persists, despite reporting the bug every couple years. Steps to reproduce: Change Nook theme to White Text on Black Background Lock Phone or open another app. Unlock phone or switch back to nook. Theme is now the default black text on white. There needs to be a better way to move my B&N purchased e-books to an e-reader that WORKS. Edit: That design decision makes no sense, devs

still love this app. It was acting a little buggy, so I uninstalled and re-installed. That fixed the issue.

It would be really cool to see the dual page mode for foldables that the kindle app has.

This is a great app.

cant make purchase thru the app wishlist still doesn't work 5 months after they broke it customer support is respectful but just an apology team, with no fixes reading experience is comparable to their competitors available reading material is comparable to competitors. no real reason to choose them, and their tech is, historically, abysmally slow to update/fix. you're basically buying a digital library that may go away if their company goes belly up, and hoping it won't ever have issues.

I've always loved going to Barnes and Noble with my mom growing up. Now it's even better because I have access to Barnes and Noble wherever I go, all of my favorite books in one place!!!

Update 10/10/2026 Nothing but aggravation while using this app. Looking to buy the same ebook from somewhere else just so I can get this trash off my tablet. 06/2026 Horrible app. Pages constantly out of order and touch points highlight other places on the screen. I will avoid buying ebooks from barnes and noble just to avoid having to use this app.

Until early this summer this app worked great. Now it won't download books, gives me an error message every time I open it and generally glitches every time I open it. I've removed and reinstalled multiple times and still its not working. I've power cycled etc. Everything that has been suggested and still have problems.

I have over 30 books from the Nook tablet I used to have. I have had no problems accessing books from either my phone or new tablet and since they sync together, I can read from one and pick up where I left off on the other.

edit2: didn't ask for a trash update that deleted my bookmarks, highlights, and books from my library to do nothing important, without asking. maddening. no wonder Amazon ate their brekky edit1: raising my rating two stars to four bc they finally fixed this. open the app after the download and, bam! all the pdfs I've been reading by painstakingly scrolling through my downloads, for about two painful years. ** crashes almost every time it uses a third party pdf and advertises 3x/week: slick trash

best reading app out there

My library isn't available on new devices. if I want to read books I purchased, I have to charge an old phone. my books will not synch to a new device. I will not purchase one more book from this company and it's actually this that has convinced me to go back to real books

Since they've updated the app. it locks up more and won't download purchased books. The search function doesn't sort properly anymore. Sale prices don't always show. Or books on sale are full price when you try to put in cart. The website tries to force you to use shopify and it's very slow now. It worked better before the update.

I love the nook. And I wish that you had a larger ebook collection. I often have to buy from Kindle just because, for whatever reason, B&N just doesn't have the ebook. There is also a bug in the magazine reader. When a magazine has an italicized initials, like CNN, ICE, etc. it doesn't actually show the full thing, only the first letter.

Update from 5 star. The Nook App is one incredible, big glitch. Update: With another update, the highlight cursor described in previous review I wrote is fixed. The app is great. I love it. Thank you for creating such a useful, so perfect book app! Great App!

Disappointed that when I search for new books they removed the "Cookbook" category under nonfiction. The new CEO of B&N is British, so that probably explains it right there...

Won't download books. Just sits at 0% and flashes red sometimes. Resynced, signed out, forced stop, clear cache, reinstall, restarted phone, turned off cloud, nothing works. Now it says it's blocked by power saver or data usage. I'm on wi-fi, app is enabled for background download, I'm not on power saver, app is unrestricted on storage and data. Samsung S24 Your only support option for the app is an AI chat bot that immediately says it can't help.

I can't save the theme. it always reverts to the default theme. it's very annoying.

I enjoy and take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy a good read when the opportunity presents itself.

Loved nook before the upgrade but now I can't access my library at all just keeps going back the last book I read have had to uninstall twice and it worked for a few minutes then back to no library access. I just got a new phone and now my library is showing completely empty, this app is frustrating and I guess I will cancel this one and give up on actually reading any ebooks on my phone.

I would prefer if I could order books through the Nook app without having to go to the website. Other than that, the app works great!

This is fine for ebooks but I would definitely not recommend for audiobooks. I recently tried to listen to a new audiobook through this app and it kept losing its place each time I started it again. I finally checked the book out from my local library using their app (Libby) and have had no issues at all. What I learned from this is to save my money and get it from the library or Audible.

I thought the character development and continuation of the story were excellent. Looking forward to the fourth book.

everytime I get a new book and try to download it there is an error happening. it didn't do that before.

New book covers are showing as black or white when downloaded. When you open the book the cover is there. Very annoying. Tried emptying cache, reinstalling, archiving, etc nothing works. Love my nook but want to see the covers.

Everytime i want to support Nook for android as an alternative to Kindle, im dissapointed. Textbooks are slow to load, constantly need internet access to update, and fail to handle symbols from formulas properly. I give up on this app.

Really. I am trying to use Nook App to avoid amazon, but this thing is no match for the Kindle app. Very awkward for looking up terms and phrases. You can't highlight quotes etc, only copies one word at a time. If you move between pages too much it lags and you have to wait for it to catch up.

The convenient reading on the go along with the lower priced books, relative to the physical version, is nice.

Hate this app because authors have to CHOOSE to allow continuous scrolling for their books.

first I had to apply twice to get my free account with only one free book, then when it said it came I couldn't download it, this app shows nowhere on my phone not under secure files nor hidden files. I have to open the Google Play store and hit open to open this app and listen every single freaking time. I couldn't even cancel my subscription without having a customer service agent do it for me! so full of glitches I do not recommend the headache.

Overall is ok, it serves its purpose. The only thing I don't like is for some reason when you close the app, the book starts back at the main cover, so I had to find the page I was reading. I solved it by bookmarking the page before exiting the app but it took a few times of me being lost in the book to learn to do that.

I am very happy with this platform. I have had Kindle for years, but I could not get the app on my Chromebook. I have been a hard cover Barnes & Noble customer for years and thought about the Nook. Sure enough, Barnes & Noble provides an app for Chromebook and I am so happy with it because it is easier to use than Kindle and the pages have larger print making it easier for me to read. They even offered me a first read book for free and it's a wonderful story. I am hooked on the Nook! Thank you!

I purchased a Nook in the 1990s because BN said it was digitizing the collections of 5 major university libraries. Did they do that? As a reader of classics and scholarly writing, I have found the Nook moderately useful. I like the size (compared with older, smaller readers). The battery capacity of the current Lenovo is frustratingly small. I have to charge mine at least every other day. I use it almost exclusively at night.

I've been trying to download my books and they dont download, tried all troubleshooting and they say someone will look into it 1 to 5 business days, it's been over 8 business days and still cant get into any of my books on any of my devices. was able to purchase a book, showed up in library but unable to download from the cloud.

I give my 'Shelves' the author's name. The change to the 'Shelves' that removed the grouping by series is a pain. I typically read several books in a series, one after the other. Otherwise, I like the app.

Fix your nook app!!!! Every time I set up your nook app on a new phone for the first time, I know what to do but your app has a hard time and takes a tremendous amount of time finding my ebooks. I sign into my acct and nothing happens. FIX YOUR APP!!!

I tried to stay with Barnes & Noble, as I really like their brick and mortar store. However; apparently they choose not to actually upgrade their app. It has been problematic for years and remains so even now. I tried to search for a book, waited 5 minutes looking at a blank screen. This is a consistent problem. Unfortunately they have chosen not to sl invest in improving the app with any significant upgrades or changes. It's clunky and not very intuitive.

What happened to two column mode in landscape orientation? can't find it. The book I'm currently reading changed to single column after a restart of my tablet. update: 6/23/26 - inexplicably two column mode came back. I'm so confused, and I hope that doesn't happen again.

Loses one star for interrupting my day to ask me to write a review. The e-reader itself is fine, works on my phone and is easy to use. It is annoying however that you can't purchase books on the app--you have to buy them on the website and then open them in the app. It is 2026 people; there are apps that write a book for you but you can't be bothered to add a bog-standard store to your app, and you're a major bookseller? No wonder Amazon trounces you.

I used to like this app, but now it makes you add a credit card to purchase free books. Uninstalled. They responded to say you don't need a card if you are in certain areas. Guess what, I'm in that area and still tells me I need a credit card for free books. Uninstalled again

why.. does your app keep starting my books from the beginning? no one wants to scroll through to find where they left off. 5 mins previously. multiple times a day. when they have full wifi connection and cell signal. it's embarrassing to keep supporting you when stuff like this keeps going on

I've always love the B&N Nook app.

I've used this app for years, and it's always been 5☆, until the recent update. My page turn effects are gone. I change the setting back to curl, but it slides anyway. The dictionary no longer works. At all. Changing text size has no effect on anything other than what the app recognizes as links. So increasing text size will work on chapter titles, since they link back to the table of contents, but the text of the actual book remains unchanged. please fix these issues.

Issues downloading content. Brand new Samsung Android version 16. Bought to have NOOK & Kindle content in one place and save money upgrading terribly outdated readers instead of purchasing a new NOOK and Kindle. While downloading over 600 books for NOOK, a message keeps saying reconnect to wifi. What the heck? There's nothing wrong with my wifi and it's completely secure. I've been purchasing books and ebooks from B&N for over 30 years and always problems downloading to NOOK or any device.

This version on the app is no longer has visible folders. As a result I cannot side load my books that are on my failing device. This makes it pretty worthless to me.

After the April 2, 2026 my book catalogue has gone missing from the Nook App. again after the update. Shelves and books are gone. Can't download books I own. On Friday, June 5, my entire book archive was removed from my device without my permission. I have been trying to get it restored not lose more books. Customer service is NOW non existent. Today, is June 6, 2026 and I can't get to any of the books I want to read!

this app will not let me load my books from my library I'm assuming it's due to the teen status I had to replace my tablet and re download the app on this one I have a large library and cannot access any of them. to download or read

The app is quite buggy. 1) It frequently doesn't save your position, whether you close the app completely while reading or go back out to home first. 2) It often stops displaying words briefly, as it does when rotating, before displaying again, sometimes with the text shifted positions. 3) Turning pages is ultra slow, which is more of an issue when it doesn't remember your progress, so you end up taking excessive time to skip back to your last position.

forgot password. their password reset email opens up a new email window, instead of directing me to the app, and then I have to close out because they also want me to enter a numeric code. so then I have to start over bc the aforementioned email window is not even in my browser history. now I can't do anything because they're saying my connection is bad or w/e. just nevermind.

nook app disconnects Bluetooth on Lenovo tablets from Barnes and Noble. definitely a system bug. I trouble shooted two of the same nooks for two days now. only bypass is accessing digital library on chrome app

I have had a Nook reader since the very start. I have the app downloaded on my phone and tablet. I am a big fan of book series, so I get disappointed when I start a series and then BN for some reason doesn't have some of the books. I had to supplement the series thru Kindle. Sometimes my tablet and phone don't sync up on my wishlist, current page in book and other areas. I have 1568 books with 420 of them unread. However, when you look at my completed list it only shows 1019....

since the newest updated books do not download and open

I'm attempting to boycott Amazon, and so I'm trying not to use Kindle. I wish I could transfer my Kindle books over to this app, but so far, it has been a good experience. However, I'm boycotting Barnes & Noble now.

The app is automatically changing to dark mode without my request. Dark mode is set to off. I have to manually change to white while reading. it's annoying.

After seeing developer notes I tried to do what you recommended but each time I go to write a note, I get to the end of the note and no matter what I try there is no visible button for send or enter or check mark finish and I don't see the notes that I made from my iphone on previous books

Sideloaded books don't allow volume buttons to turn pages anymore. Also cannot change page effect from slide to other options. What happened?

failed to sync and find my existing library. wouldn't let me purchase new books (though it correctly found my gift card balance). wouldn't even load a book's free sample. absolutely worthless app.

I have so much trouble navigating through this app. It is slow and clunky. I have to redo item searches multiple times. Fix the cart and use my phone for account changes.

Opened once, didn't load the books, now won't even open

I haven't been able to access my wishlist in over a year now and now can't search the Nook store. When I contacted them about the wishlist issue, they said they were aware and had no plans to fix it. At least I can still read my books, but if this persists, I will be going elsewhere for my ebooks.

It could just be my phone but the app is slow. When i buy a book it takes me at least 5 days until it actuall fully downloads, but other than that its a great app, i love how you can change the font and background color. Its also very sensitive to touch

Super Buggy. Some books you can only get through this app, which is the only reason I would recommend having it. Otherwise, the reading experience is quite frustating. Pages might randomly come in the wrong order; and error messages constantly pop up.

I bought the very first NOOK and now have hundreds of books in my Digital Library. I read on my PC, because I can control the size of the print, as my sight is diminishing. And now am unable to do so. Why is B&N essentially dumping its sight-challenged subscribers. I understood there was a NOOK for the Web, which is why I'm on this site, but no luck, I clicked the link for Nook for Web ... and nothing.. Am I supposed to buy a Kindle now?

Not liking it buy what are we to do to stop it? I don't see us in the future having as many as we do now.

I have been trying to order a few new books. And am unable to. What happened to the app I’ve been using for at least 15 years? I’ve always loved my Nook, but I’m going to have to switch to Kindle if this doesn’t get fixed soon. Very disappointed.

OK book reader. Occasional hiccups require changing font size to show text hidden by inconsistent paragraph formatting. Annoying "learning reading speed" and chapter/book completion times at bottom, cycled through on each click. Should be option to fix this as page numbers in Settings, disable cycling, since this part of the screen gets clicked all the time switching to other programs. Dictionary is nice, but often just tells you this is the past tense of the root word, without the definition.

the only thing missing is an "unread" view in the library. otherwise I LOVE my Nook

no way to make purchase in app. you need a different app to do that apparently and I'm assuming 20 other apps because good grief why not. if you make an app, make sure it's all inclusive. you can't read online or offline if you can't buy the books. seriously

With the latest download the app will no longer open web links. If I try to open an epub based book the app must be closed before the epub book will open.

This Kris Bock series is a treat. The books are short, but she packs a lot of story into these small packages. I'm always glad to see the next book in this series.
