The speed limits need to be fixed; streets that are 50 kph show as 60 kph on TomTom Go, and 80 kph zones show as 100 kph. Also, for saved places, only the top five show; you need to go into the app to see them all.

15 Sept Today's UK map updates are now failing to complete, presenting a flashing blue ball with varying "waiting for refresh", "update available","up to date". Less than 500mb update but taking ages. It's finally finished. 1 Sept Turning off those online services hasn't prevented TomTom app from failing to start - just watched the spinning starting app for 10 mins before shutting it down. 30 Aug Ok, I'll see whether switching off those online services helps.
Happy customer again, thanks for the support. Problem solved with unrestricted background power: The instructions and map are lagging behind in Android Auto. Sometimes even more than 10 seconds. When I switch to Google Maps everything is fine. So it is not connection related. I am on a 12-Month subscription and suddenly the app has gone from best navigation app to being complete worthless...
This has to be the worst paid app I've ever used. Constantly need a phone restart to get the app to open, I've tried everything I can to get it to work but it just won't load. on the odd occasion it does start it takes for ever to load.
Been a user for five years but this year it is no longer the dependable travelling companion it always had been. Road closures listed on Google Maps and Amigo, but on TomTom GO it shows "everything fine". Speed limits are out of touch with reality re-enforcing you are driving on multi-year stale data. The 'offline' app stalls on start in when you have weak mobile reception (so need to toggle airplane mode) plus the app no longer receives meaningful updates with no support, this is one to avoid.
paying £20 a year for an app for it to be fully unusable last few days. just stays stuck on the opening screen and doesn't open to maps, before that it used to freeze regularly and the speed jump drastically up and down. it's has no updates available, I've deleted cash and data and uninstalled and reinstalled with no luck.
I subscribed for more than 5 years, however the map cannot show congestions and road updates since late Aug 2026, it is weird even I am at home with WiFi, it cannot show at traffic situations updates. disappointed.
logging in now working 2026-09-08 Thank you ====== as of 1 Sep 2026, logging in was difficult and now impossible. A suggestion of resetting does not help and loses all previous data associated with my account in the app. Was working great. Thanks Crashed every time on Samsung tab s8 ultra when giving location permission "only when using app" within the app. Changed to "only this time" and it works. Then in android settings can reset the permission as required. Great product, a bit idiosyncratic.
As it stands right now (06 July 2026) the map is dead. if I try to search an address it just says internal map error or something like that l. deleted everything, reinstalled the app and it show the traffic but still no roads and won't find location. Not a good start for the week. Update 1: the app recovered after a few hours. Update 2: Today is 08 September 2026 and for the second day in a row the app is unable to connect to the servers for live traffic.
Update 9/2026: so I'm not getting any traffic info at all any more. Cannot figure out why I've Uninstalled and reinstalled. It's useless now! Awesome. It's just like the stand alone units. Traffic is absolutely spot on. Routing is awesome. For people complaining about the $2/month, my last TomTom unit cost close to $300. This app is just like a brand new TomTom unit. At $2/month it is going to take you almost 12 years to equal $300! So this is really an incredible deal. Highly recommend it.
2nd edit - I SAID THE LINK YOU PROVIDED IS UNOBTAINABLE... After ages of being rock solid, the app (Android 17 phone) spent a couple of days refusing to connect online whilst driving thus no traffic information so I emptied cache to no effect, so I deleted app, restarted phone, reinstalled app (which fixed the traffic information) but now it refuses to log me into my account and therefore sync several year's worth of 'my places' - any idea why? And how I can fix it?
Really easy to use. can't log into account. error oops something has gone wrong. I am entering the correct details. was ok before but just can't get it to log in anymore
I feel like I was cheated. I paid for a product and the product doesn't work properly. The south U.K was erased automatically out of the app. The live traffic doesn't work at all. This is what I paid for? I had to uninstall the app, install it back and it still doesn't work. Who's paying my internet for downloading back all the maps?
subscribed to this for a year. Previously I had no issues but now, i cant log in - 'oops something went wrong' and i can only see parts of the map and locations. This has been going on for weeks - not sure if i will be subscribing again
I used to really like this for following GPX files, but it now has syncing issues with the account. I will upload a file to the website then sync to device and it will show for the first time I set up the app, but any future routes no longer sync. resetting the app works but this deletes downloaded routes and shouldn't need to be done everytime a route is uploaded.
This app has a terrific user interface with clear guidance and giant "overhead" 3D graphics showing which lane you should be in. The voice announcements are so good you hardly need to look at the screen at all. For complex trips, there's a cool route planning feature built into the website that's not well documented or explained. Once you figure out how it works, you can design a trip on your notebook or desktop computer, then sync the route with the mobile app so it appears in Android Auto.
Every time I add my address to Home, it changes the address and location to across the road from my house. When I put my Work address, it changes the address to the next door address. The addresses I put in exist. Every other TomTom app and device has no problem finding my actual addresses. This app is different.
I had a paid subscription for many years as it was the best app for speed cameras and average speed zones etc. I can't see any of that now and is pointless paying the subscription for this. I've tried resetting and reinstalling etc without any success.
Well it was good all of a sudden its not. App no longer displays traffic. I have all permissions allowed, background data on, no battery optimisation, tried clearing cache, clearing data, deleting and uninstalling app. nothing works only 1/2 way through subscription.
absolute rubbish avoid. purchased this as you can input data of vehicle, size weight height in order to avoid narrow lanes and weight limits. planned a route, tried to take me down road a 7.5 ton road when set at 14 ton. Tried other routes locally and same, doesn't avoid limited roads. DONT buy, truck option is set!tomtom making out i havnt set correct, lots of emails but all is set correct even after reinstall. Many routes tried, faulty product, lots with same problem, won't refund, avoid....
what good is this app if it doesnt open if there is no internet connection, what good is the offline maps then if u cant even get the program to actually open, this picks up half the speed cameras as waze, wont be paying for another subscription. what happened to the mobile speed camera alerts, nothing, ive had to move to waze. that sucks. I've heard of apps being slow to load but this is ridiculous and I've got a galaxy s20 plus snapdragon. again u can't access the offline maps with no internet
Have finally given up and cancelled the Subscription renewal in November after many years. The app now gets stuck on the Loading screen on both my phones, have tried clearing cache, deleting app and offline maps and retrying, regularly takes about 10 minutes to open. TomTom have not added anything new (of note) to this app for ages and it has now fallen way behind other apps. Will stick to Sygic, Waze and Google Maps as they are much better apps and less unreliable!
I signed up for the 12 month subscription of expert. Here's the takeaway. 1. If you don't have reception the app won't start, it just sits on the loading screen forever. 2. The app constantly crashes causing the next turn and distance overlay to disappear completely. 3. Driving around cities, Google Maps gives a much better experience and clearer navigation. Out in the sticks with no reception, Here We Go is still a clear winner by a big margin because it just works.
Warning: Watch out for billing errors. The app disconnected and told me I had to renew my subscription to keep using it, even though I had plenty of time left. I paid for 12 months, and instead of extending my current plan, it just charged me for a second, duplicate subscription. Now my account shows two active subscriptions running at the same time until 2027. Very frustrating experience ! Edit: Thanks for the reply, I already tried and "...this purchase does not qualify for a refund..."
absolute waste of space sick of seeing "opps something went wrong" message every time I open the app wouldn't even let me get directions and clear cache redownload app does nothing thankfully I didn't pay and was only on the free trial save yourself the hassle and don't bother downloading the app!!!!!!
Been a paid customer for at least 15 years and now I cannot seem to be able to open the Go Expert app at all. Absolutely no ideas I drive for a living and rely on a functioning app. Had this ongoing issue for about three weeks now. Google Play not interested and Tom Tom are dragging their heels trying to find a solution. All in all, very disappointing. Paying an annual subscription for something that I simply cannot use.
This app used to run well on my old Android phone. Now it starts sometimes but tends to just sit there with that little wheel going round and around and around. Best not to waste your money. Despite your reply, I did all that, twice, so still frustrated, but happy to revise this review if things change.
It was ones an amazing but getting worse and worse. but tbe worst, it takes so long to load the app. On a 1 hour trip it did not load and had to resort to VW navigation. edit2: I'm afraid the Bluetooth connection was not the issue. I have had the issues now multiple times when my car was nowhere nearby. I even tried disconnecting my smartwatch without succes. The problem occurs randomly it seems. But thank you for looking in to it. can I try anything els?
This is a load of rubbish, I've just started using it, and I've had nothing but trouble. Every time I put in a postcode, it says no route found. It's a total waste of money. Thanks, TomTom. never again. I've done everything you have said, but still rubbish. In my places ie previous destinations it won't,even give me a route. I'm bitterly disappointed and out of pocket to the tune of £55.99. It's very strange that in the reply, I've been asked to contact the company directly to be totally ignored
Been using this app over 10 years but just won't load anymore. Tried clearing cache and data, uninstalling and reinstalling both app and maps. Worked for a couple of days but won't load again. I will be cancelling my subscription if no permanent fix is implemented.
What's going on with tomtom lately? I could rely on navigation very well in the past, now i am directe into oneway streets, Road closures are missing and maximum speeds are incorrect, especially Belgium surroundings. Whatup? For now i am using maps, which seems to be accurate. Missing the clear interface dough.
I've had a TomTom Trucker 6000 Sat Nav for years, after seeing this I thought I'll give it a whirl as it'll mean one less device in my bag. The navigation on this is so sketchy, despite placing the truck dimensions in I've been directed down roads that would be tight in a car many, many a time in just two days of use. Thankfully, common sense has avoided some really awkward situations. Even Google maps navigation designed purely for cars keeps you on main roads better than this app.
I bought and tried to use this app in my work as an interstate truck driver in Australia. I couldn't have imagined a worse experience! This navigator won't route my truck along main highways, as it shows a maximum of 2.9 meters. This shouldn't be the case, as these highways are over 5 meters high. It constantly takes me off the main route and takes me on detours. I don't understand why the navigation is so BAD! I need a refund, please contact me to arrange this.
The roads are no longer being displayed on maps so the App no longer works. Although I have The Netherlands, Belgium and the whole of France installed I get an error Destination not on the current map. The phone is a Pixel 10 pro with the latest updates. After years of often frustrating use of this unreliable app it's time to look for something better. (Edit: re-downloading maps doesn't get past 31%)
I purchased this on subscription hoping it would be like Tom tom GO, despite the settings on traffic,re route etc,it was useless, the bar came & went as it pleased, it led me into long traffic delays that did not even display miles away & nothing to show I was even in traffic, the clock ETA just kept ticking! a total waste of money.
No longer works offline, the TomTom Go app used to be the absolute best offline navigation app, but since the last several updates it will not turn on unless it's connected to the internet, so it's completely useless. I turned every feature off that has the potential to connect to the internet, like I was told, but it makes no difference. TomTom needs to make that the online searching/connecting of the app can be turned off, so the app can be turned on without being connected to the internet.
I have been using the app for a few years. I recently needed to use it but it wouldn't open just a black screen and the wheel of doom to make it worse it wouldn't close either. So I did the uninstall and install all good 2 days later same again unable to open on phone or tablet. Any suggestions or another app needed.
Good navigator, map very clear when driving, reliable speed camera warnings. There are 2 annoying bugs that you do not expect in a mature software like this: app does not start without internet connection (very bad in some situations), often when start navigation, automatic zoom does not work (you have to manually move the map and recenter).
upd: clearing cache and data, downloading all maps again did helped. fortunately, i did have synced the favorites with the cloud. ... and again, last update of App and maps did broke it. maps are not shown, only favorits, but if favorite is selected, there is no option to drive to. no navigation at all...
you are paying for a premium product, but it's not premium. it overloads your phone memory. to many map errors with no easy way to correct or report . slow response from support team when you have a customer query. I've been using tomtom for what must be over 25 years, and every year, it gets progressively worse. I am continuously being told by my family members to use Google maps, saying it's better and doesn't cost you. I am starting to think that they are correct. think before you buy
Constant crashing upon lunch. App is up to date and clearing cash doesn't help. App itself reporting it has a bug. Can someone please fix this. Thanks. Update1 based on suggested steps. Forcing stop, clearing cache and setting battery to unrestricted doesn't help. App crashes upon oppening. Does't show initial location map and just cresh. If clearing data as suggested, wouldn't I lose all saved locations and downloaded maps as well? My app version is 3.6.320. Many people reporting the same.
Great when it works, but struggles to load 90% of the time, then missing route bar etc on android auto. search doesn't work most of the time, no route found (due to map not being up to date). painful experience for £20 a year for a car subscription.
Something is wrong with this app again. It may take eternity to open it. Yes I've cleared cache and reinstalled the app. I can't do it again and again wasting my time and data traffic. Not when I'm at work and need it right here right now. This app have many technical issues I've reported many times and they're never fixed.
Dear Team, After last update It become a nightmare....! I clear cache , uninstall, restart phone and reinstall but app is not even opening just stucked at first step and keep loading app for several hours... I don't know what to do and I can't contact support without opening the app. Is there anyway I can get it done...!
In addition to the problems of fictitious roads that never get corrected the latest problem is the app no longer recognises any UK addresses, and yes I do have the up to date UK maps installed. Its the same problem on both of my Samsung phones. Complete waste of money!
I'm done. won't take addresses, maps get corrupted and then you're troubleshooting this app while on the road. it no longer points me to a way around traffic. i drove in circles for 45 minutes because the app is mental. there is no support but a very stupid AI that's useless and just makes your life more miserable. app is unusable and unfixable. no support at all so I'm cancelling.
I've been using this app at least 10 years, what are the developers doing to it! lately, infact today I couldn't use it,I had no maps. the help section tells you to clear cache and data. I am sure clearing data will get rid of all my favourite locations. if it's not broken, then don't try to fix it. EDIT: all fixed after following instructions, kept all my favourites by enabling My Drive, but I had to go into the app from my old phone as I had deleted the maps according to the help article. Thanks
great app when it works. In may lost all favourites and stored locations suddenly, (known issue) now updated maps as usual, and whole app is corrupted, with maps not registering locations. worse, it is a known bug, but their support bot claims no knowledge and support is found only from Reddit or other forum. no active support, no care, no reliability. a shame, loved it for a longer time, now a gamble of it will work. not what you want for road trips!
very good for years until the last update i have been using tomtom navigation for close to 20 years well before apps where a thing I think I got the 1st navigation unit that was released and have been using tomtom ever since but when the last update was done all the maps of Western Australia have gone there isn't a option the delete the region and reinstall as the Western Australia region isn't there any more so pls tomtom sort it out as Im a paid long long term customer and realy like using it
Like others I opened up my app one day and it has lost all maps. Tells me no route possible for any of my locations. Uninstalled then reinstalled and it won't downloaded maps and every location I put in it says internal search error. Help! Tried suggested steps made no difference will wait for fix. You have until July 29th when my subscription renews, or doesn't.
I was very content with this app until now. I can't sign in. I don't remember the password, but the link won't arrive. It doesn't find the route, it shows "no route possible". I tried everything, but nothing works!
My map wasn't showing at all and no results were showing for anything so I come to the reviews to see other people also having issues. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app as suggested by responses from TomTom and now when I search it says 'internal search error' and the map is still no good.
Was a big fan of TT ever since you used to be able to replace the arrow with a Paint version of your car, and enter your own speed estimates for the 4 road types however, this app where to begin? I found it impossible to install a working version. Maps failed to download fully but without telling you, despite phone sitting next to 1gb fibre connection. Round and round with internal error, clear cache reload map, route impossible etc. Almost got it working but without any warnings. Gave up.
Absolutely terrible to use in Ireland. When you enter the destination when you are "close by" it shows that you arrived but it's not navigating you to the exact location like a Waze or Google maps... Also it reports a speedcam almost in every 5 km when there are nothing at all, it works well in Northern Ireland with the speedcams but in South Ireland it's just terrible. The constant speedcam notification is so annoying... It would be great if would bring you to the right location also ...
Since 2020 I have used this app and I was very pleased with it. Some days ago, (beginning of July) I updated the maps both in my phone and my wife's phone. To our surprise, the maps are blank, without roads. I can see in the reviews from July 2026, that more users have the same issue. The TomTom version in my mobile is a Beta version. I didn't apply for a Beta version. Why does the TomTom company use its clients as Beta testers? We pay for the license and we expect a reliable service in return
used this app a lot whilst at work worked for 2 years no issues then after most recent update maps are blank lost all my data signed me out and states my password or email is wrong and wont actually send me a reset link to email. subscription cancelled! edit I've done what you suggested and its reset my password yet still no saved places or map actually showing....
The app is now non-functioning after the map update. Road graphics are missing (as reported by many others) This app is essential to me and my business and is still not fixed for nearly 2 weeks. I tried clearing cache, clearing data, deleting maps and a full reinstall. Everything is still broken. Shocking for subscribers like me
just updated my europe maps and now the app doesn't work. it loads up but all you see is the cursor of your location but no roads, the screen is blank. I go to my places select 1 and nothing happens. I've even restarted my phone. it's totally unusable. please resolve thank you for the reply, after reinstalling how do I activate my current subscription and will every destination saved in My Places still be there
Maps have suddenly failed to show. I've deleted them and tried to reinstall but they won't work. This app is an expensive pile of junk considering Waze is free and always works. Tried everything you suggested, none of it made any difference. I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling, that worked. Very poor.
After the last map update, they simply disappeared. The app shows them as installed but cannot start navigation; it reports an error and tells me to try again later—and this has been happening for three days straight. When I tried deleting the maps and reinstalling them, the same thing happened. I can neither delete nor install them. Fix it please
Disappearing maps. Two different phones, both broke at the same time. Tried to delete the maps, it said there was a problem. Never would've guessed! Tried clearing cache and data, still broken. Used to be the best satnav app, now, I'm not so sure... I want one that works, not something I have to faff around with for half an hour, re-downloading several GB of maps on the offchance it might fix it.
Get a grip, TomTom. I'm paying for this app as a driving instructor and rely on it every day for work. A few months ago there were major issues with pre-planned routes, and now, after the latest maps update, the app often won't even load the maps. I need a reliable sat nav to run my driving school, not constant bugs and new problems. Please fix the reliability issues instead of creating more.
first time all favourites places were gone, spent 3 hours to retype them manually , then they disappeared again and the old one's reappeared. Yesterday the map was blanc, no route possible, couldn't use the search function, the action buttons from favourites disappeared.i had to uninstall reinstall the app and download the maps again.no customer care number , only ai robot ,and email contact, sent an email still no answer , disappointing.
what u bad program and i didnt sign up for the beta and yet the download is a beta. which i tested for a week and it just keeps sending me with a 17m long truck into towns. also want me to use a roundabout to turn back instead of taking the high way onramp (which goes to the city i need to go) luckily i tested ttgo on a routes i know else i would have had real trouble , so i dont know where all the 5 star reviews are from but not from this piece of .....
Loved this app use it all the time. Recently though I have been having so many issues with the maps and it telling me no route available. Leaves me in a situation then. That leads to me trying to remove maps. reloading them. And it still doesn't work. So changed my review to 1 star. It used to be so reliable but now awful. !!!
not a bad app. my only issue is that when you put multiple stops for a trip it doesn't list the stops in the order they were typed in. It will show the start and finish destinations no problem, but any stops in-between that will not appear in order. Also, its unfortunate that you have to pay to use most trucker gps apps.
Unusable, too laggy. When using the app, the map on screen is behind my location to the extent you miss junctions, morever the button responses are heavily delayed too. I've tried the usual stuff related to battery optimisation, cache, location, decent cable etc - Nothing works, so it's become a wasted subscription.
Traffic services aren't available, not on this app nor their hardware. It came back online for a single day weeks ago and then has been down since. Been using TomTom products since the beginning, but what exactly are we paying for if we're not getting the services we're "supposed" to get. Support has never even responded to my email when I reported a long-term traffic outage many others are having issues with as well.
I will not be renewing and I'm hoping by the end of the year. It will come out with another app system like MapQuest that will work on Android Auto. it has been putting me in traffic ------------update 1/28/26--- i have finally had enough even though I am not at the end of my subscription this app.Keeps putting me through subdivisions instead of keeping me on the main road going around them.(UNINSTALLING)NOW. 2/18/2026. uninstalled and not missing it, Free apps work as good and are FREE
After using this only 3 times, I was sold. Paid for the year. For the first time I have a Navigation app that works near perfect. The settings are great, good customization, good UI, nice features, but the most important thing is that the navigation is flawless. The only nav app that DOESN'T give me anxiety when using it. No worrying that I can't figure out where I'm getting off for the next exit, no ridiculous maneuvers, no trying to figure anything out. Just getting where I need to go easy. 🙂
Note 20 Ultra 5G. This app sucks. Most of the time, the app won't run. Most of the time it says "Your subscription has expired" or "Oops". I wasted almost 70 dollars. "Update" I did the clear cache the first time. It started working after the 3rd or 4th restart. The live traffic didn't work as well as Google Maps btw. The second day I tried to use it, it wouldn't start. That's when I decided to get a refund. Thanks for approving my refund.
This app sucks. The only gimmick is showing which lane you should be in, but even that isn't very helpful since it doesn't show which lane of an exit to be in for the next turn, which Google maps does. Speed limits were wrong, default view when not navigating is way zoomed out, traffic patterns were wrong, zero speed trap warnings, and speech to text is a digital voice from the 1980s. Save your money, Google Maps and Waze, both free, are better in every way.
It might get you there. Downloaded and installed this trying to get away from the Google option. They give you a whole week (woohoo) to try it out before paying for it. There were a couple of glitches that I just couldn't see paying for. In Android Auto, twice the display just stopped moving while driving in an area I've never been. Had to go back to Maps to get where I was going. AA always starts with North up. Would prefer to have the option to change that. And the cartoonishly large arrow??
I used it for a while and decided to try it again. I had to purchase it because I'm not eligible for the free trial again. Ot required me to download a map, which took a long time. It now shows a blue arrow (presumably where I am) against a totally blank background. I just wasted $5. Edit... finally got the map to load but it can't find a destination 7 hours away. Ugh
I've been using this app on Android since it was first released. So much better than the free alternatives. One thing though - when running on Android Auto and in an average-speed zone, I don't get the display showing my average speed, which is shown on the phone screen. This is a very useful feature - can it be added to the Android Auto display?
I had big hopes for this app because it worked with Android Auto. The posted speed is wrong on the app for many roads I travel. For example, if the posted speed is 35, the app shows it as 20. Then, when the posted speed changes to 45, the app shows 30 and takes too long to update. Because of this, I had to turn off the audio speed warning. Also, at different places in my daily travels, the app will drop. My Android Auto will show that it is connected, but the app has lost connection.
When you minimize the screen to use any other function like phone, music app, book app etc, the app reroutes you to what it thinks may be the fastest not what you have already chosen, to maybe avoid the school district when it will be congested halfway through your commute, just because it isn't now. Then it doesn't let you look ahead enough to plan which lane to be in, even when it's almost immediate if you're going 75mph on the interstate, 800 yards goes quickly, then zooms out at odd times.
Using TomTom to navigate to an unknown Point of Interest (POI) has been a long-standing issue, but it was easily resolved by manually adding the POIs. Over the years, I have created a personalized library, and it was always possible to import .ov2 files into the TomTom app. However, in this new version, this simple operation is no longer possible, rendering my files useless. In conclusion, the app has become useless and expensive. I recommend using WAZE, which is free and user-friendly.
They claim it will allow you to set the specifics (height, length) of your vehicle see pictures above, But they don't tell you that it is not an available feature on the basic plan. It is a premium upgrade. So, If you were planning on using this for your van or camper DON'T. As to how it works? Don't know. When I called to talk to customer support about how it was advertised, they gave me directions on how to cancel my subscription.
Overall good, but I have a couple of small issues. The map zoom is weird. It stays really close. You can zoom out and it will stay, but when it zooms in for a turn, it barely zooms back out afterwards, so you only see about a mile ahead. It also does strange routing sometimes. Like trying to go around the perimeter of my neighborhood instead of the faster, direct route straight through. It should also give better alerts when map updates are available.
Not very user friendly if you are driving, you can't search for destination by name of location you need to know exact address only. You can tell the GPS take me to a store and name the city (there is only one in the city) it doesn't work, i.e. take me to Costco in Bonney Lake. Also one time we type the address of another location and it was not found either. I had a year subscription but canceled it because of this fact.
Would love to rate it 5 stars. Absolutely love the look and UI of the app. The maps look great. But I had to go back to Copilot. There are too many stretches of Interstate that it thinks are still closed due to construction. So it tries to route you way out of route. Also there are several secondary roads that it thinks have a 4 ton weight limit that have no signs stating that. As a truck driver I can not afford to have it routing me way out of route. Especially for $19 a month.
Forces you to sign up for 7 day trial followed by $5 per month. You must do this before you can even see the app. You can't preview or decide about the app untill after you have provided payment info. And on top of that you also are notified that there will be ads too. No Thanks. Way too greedy and aggressive.... Uninstalled
Update: I managed to test this product for almost a week. It works great if you enter street addresses. Routing works on point. I really like how I can find gas stations on route. Businesses like restaurants, bowling, etc, that have existed for years are not in the database. This limits it's day to day use. I can justify spending a small one time fee and live with this limitation, but not a subscription.
This app leaves a lot to be desired. First of all, it really struggles to log into the right account (not sure if that's because I have more than one email or not) once I'm finally logged in (which takes so long because once you try the wrong credentials once, it's stuck on a loop where there is no obvious lot out button) then halfway through my trip an ad booted me from my map and I had to pull over to try to get it to work again (I actually couldn't get it to work again. Waste of money. Sad.
Works well with Android Auto. I prefer it over AmiGO which is also by TomTom. Search engine works well and download maps makes for an overall smoother experience when a network signal is weak or non existent. Subscription price is reasonable for what you get. Only thing I'd like to see is the ability for the app to tell you whether your destination is on the left or right when you arrive.
Have three big issues after installing. I predominantly use Android auto. 1st issue, and this is a deal breaker, I can't figure out how to display the current street I'm on w/out a destination programmed. This is a must have feature. 2nd. Font is too small, need to make bigger. Can't see without my readers. 3rd. I need to turn off the speed nany. Update: That setting is enabled. Still no street name. Also I sent an email about inaccurate destinations.
This app is totally worthless. Can't put in addresses, can't do searches. I mean you can put them in but nothing ever comes up to the point you can't even start navigation. Waste of time and download. This happens for all addresses, all states, all locations. I can't share addresses since it happens to everything. I loved the app as it isn't usable. Yes all maps were downloaded and installed.
Being a part time courier I need a good navigation app, I was hoping this would be the app, as the price is very reasonable. Unfortunately I cannot even get it to run on my phone, Galaxy S8, it appears that any map you download won't work. I can't add any places or search for anything, just get 'internal search error' message, have reinstalled several times to no avail. Very disappointed.
No longer usable. I drive to multiple locations each day for work and can now no longer trust the routing nor the estimated arrival time. It frequently tries to send me on routes that I know are wrong that would add an additional drive time of 20 minutes for a 45 minute drive. Even if it sends me on an acceptable route the estimated arrival time is off by a similar amount of time. 70 minutes estimated this morning and I arrived in 48. No traffic. Quickest route with no tolls used at all times
I agree with many other comments, the app was awesome before and worth paying. This updated version is junk. Doesn't show what side of the road the destination will be on. Drops me at wrong locations. The zip codes are no longer correct with the cities. Not sure if I'll be paying for this anymore.
I'm with Neil J!! This used to be a killer app. You'd pay your $21.99 a year and get timely map updates for the whole U.S. or beyond, and it was a done deal. NOW...it's a nightmare. You have to add each state individually, which in and of itself isn't so bad but when you try to add more than a few states at a time, even though the app allows you to do it, you only get a fraction of the states you've selected. Then you have to go back and add and add. Wash. Rinse. Repeat. And it keeps locking up when it's initializing the maps. It's just a nightmare. Also, I have 4 phones and only ONE of them got the "New and Improved" version, while the other 3 still said I had to pay $21.99!! I put in my identification information and it STILL said I had to pay to upgrade, even though I'd already paid the new yearly price of $12.99, auto renewable, for the one phone that got the update. The price is good, but the product is in the crapper now. FIX IT folks! A.S.A.P.
For people having problems loading the app like myself I finally figured it out! Go into settings and then go to apps. Click on the go app. Click storage. Then you want to clear the cache and then clear data. restart your phone or tablet. I did not have to reinstall the go app from the Play Store. Good luck this is what worked for me .
Works well. Traffic problems reported fast. Reroutes to avoid problems good. ETA very good, it would be nice to customize the message automatically. It needs a vehicle type option. My van & trailer are not premeditated on "Express Lanes". Toll roads yes, Express no. The program will repeatedly try to redirect me to the Express lane. 50 miles of this with a redirect every mile gets old.
I just installed the app and downloaded the maps. The maps are comically bad. I live in city of 35,000 in Japan and the map shows all of 10 streets, out of hundreds. 95% or more of the streets are just plain missing. The street I live on, the larger street it branches off of, and the main street that branches off are all just not there--it just shows an arrow plowing along through nothingness, as if I were driving through a huge forest instead of a dense quasi-urban area. Even the major national expressways are missing. Maybe it's better in a few major cities, but if you installed this and tried it out in a big city and thought it was fine, you'd be up a creek once you got past the city limits if you were relying on this app..
It does at a price just what other free apps do for free. It loads very very slow and also rerouting is slow if you deviate from the given route. There is no maps colors to chose from and only one UGLY map color is offered for day and one for night view unlike other free apps that offer nice colors to chose from. Update: in response to the developer answer. I do have a paid version and up to date, but there is no way to change the map COLOR. Answer me about the MAP color not the App color
I attempted to renew the subscription, paid for it, but app won't update. A bar on the top says something about "Purchase Waiting" or some such thing, but tapping it does nothing; and because their support team doesn't work weekends, no help is available. I got a refund from Google and will be uninstalling when the present subscription runs out. Why pay for that kind of non-support? I may as well use a free app. It's a shame because it was my favorite navigation app overall. Oh well.
The app is nice. I seem to be accurate. The is a few annoying thing. There should be an option to save the map to the external memory card. it takes to much memory. Seems to somethings pick the nears intersection, when saving a location. Points of interest is basicly useless. I dont understand, where they come from. I took me on a toll road, even though I had the option set to not do that. It would be nice, if miles would be expressed in decimal 10th miles, instead of fractions.
Price for subscription is too high. I was an early adopter and had used this app years ago, at the time Google maps weren't nearly as good and phone data was more expensive and coverage worse, so it made sense to have a standalone navigation app. nowadays, the cost for data, data coverage and gmaps are much much better, that's why I think for me, I would be willing to pay $10 per year for the otherwise great TomTom interface, but not more.
This is the best of the GPS navigation apps I found for the Android system so far. It shows good maps, and tracks quite well. Has some idiosyncrasies that are annoying, however. For example, in many Urban settings it only tells you every other or every third cross street. When you're simply looking for a certain turn or intersection this can be an extremely annoying omission. We were a little annoyed with the route planning algorithms when trying to drive through Portland Oregon recently. No matter whether we chose the shortest route, or the fastest route, it seems we got either a bunch of turn offs that were unnecessary, or it dragged us off the interstate onto a bunch of side streets just to make sure we were going the shortest distance. It needs to have some option for, perhaps, the simplest route. When you're pulling a trailer you don't want to be exiting and entering a freeway repeatedly, or driving around on a bunch of tiny surface streets. Lastly, I would really like to see an option for displaying your elevation as you're traveling. That's another handy feature when you're dragging a trailer up a long grade. It can be helpful to know how close to the summit you actually are.
