Everything is fine in this app, but one thing is not right. The text limit in this app is very small, which gets cut off from the photo in the middle, so you have to write without spaces.

I'm very frustrated because Phonto is *almost* perfect for my needs, but curving text upwards cuts off the top of the text and there doesn appear to be a solution for this.

I liked it very much.I am using this app from long time.🙏 After making any banner it must in HD quality but it is normal.When the content is pasted, lines should be generated automatically, and pages should be created automatically based on the page setup.Please add this features in this app.

my go-to! I love this app. the only downfall is that the quality lowers if the background is a more advanced design. sometimes it's a simple background with a subtle design & the text is still slightly blurred. I also wish the grid would apply to the photo, that way I know if the text is centered or not. otherwise, this is my fav text app!

So I've been using Phonto for well over a decade now (easily 15+ years). Simple, free and does what it's supposed to do without a single bug, glitch or complication. Comes with a wide variety of fonts to which you can add more. Tools don't need to be complicated, they just need to be intuitive and actually work. Easily 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

For Some Reason my Permissions on my App is Grey'd Out & so I can't allow Photo permissions , please please please can you add it to your permissions so I can use this app I've used it for years .please and thankyou x

i used the app one and after I used it again and when I try to save the image it doesn't work and it shows error.

This is a good text adder in images you can even import fonts for free! (unlike picsart where you need a stupid plus). So I'll recommend this for people who wants to add text to their photos. 5 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I think more features should be added. Like changing font or colours of some alphabets between words, making fonts shimmery, glossy, elevated etc. all round, it is a very good app, I use it for book titles n all!!

Whatever you've done to this app recently has completely tanked it. Images fail to save both as PNG/.jpg and as a project. Most of the time when I do manage to get anything to save, the layers aren't even there.

I have used this app for years. Suddenly there are many features that just don't work right. For example, I cannot make the text in colors other than black or white, I cannot change the color or the stroke of the text and more. *changing review, because Phonto has fixed bugs. there remains room for improvement still, but I highly recommend the app. thanks!

overall the app is very well and its fonts also good but it hard to typing in hindi words and very heard to find every single thing in Hindi typing maybe they should make it more easier in future updates

when I try changing the color of the font, the font doesn't appear on the screen, just the background picture, it's frustrating because it won't let me see what the new color of the font looks like, same thing with the shadow and other things I've done before, the app had an update and since the update I can't do things I used to do

This was One of the Best Apps but greed of Advertising has totally ruined it. I have given one star because there is NO PROVISION to give negative stars! Their Ads shows their arrogance as one can't skip it, can't move forward and compulsorily have to watch irrelevant Ads. Some Ads are in other than English which we can't even understand! used this app for years. used to be able to restore earlier projects. the feature is gone now. my phone often closes all of my apps even when I'm not trying to on accident. leaving 1 star until this feature is brought back because there is zero reason to NOT have this feature. otherwise, this would be 5 stars

It has been working great so far. The adds are not disruptive at all and it lets you continue with your project. No pressure about selling you stuff. Unlike other apps and their annoying marketing campain. Update, after years of using it, it stopped working. It let's compose a message on an image, but only in plain text. The editing options don't work anymore.

This app is excellent and even though the commercials are annoying they are absolutely not overbearing with them and so I welcome the commercials when they do come even though I don't necessarily like them. because I understand that great apps like this need to have funding.

I'd like to curve the text. also could be better if we could replace the color of text with a different background. nonetheless, great app!!

It's not the same on this new android as it was on my iPhone. I paid to have it n only got some things extra but now I can't have them on this android n can't even have what was free on the iPhone. Can't do much on this one. If I was still on the iPhone I would give it at least 4 but as it is I can barely give it the 2. And on top of that it now has ads, n before with more on it there were no ads. I don't like it much anymore.

it's okay. i've been using this for years and it's good if i just need to put simple texts to to simple photos. however, it would be better of they put like a sign or an indicator if the text is centered, cause i usually just trust my guts lol also, a feature where i can re-edit my recent or past projects without the need of saving it.

I'm sorry but apparently this app doesn't like Android. I could not figure out how to install my font file. I used AI (co-pilot)for assistance and followed it's step by step instructions and it even said that this app is very touchy when it comes to Android. after several tries that wasted way more time than I should have allowed I decided to quit because it shouldn't be that difficult regardless what system you use. I tried though.

pretty much a ride or die photo editing app for me - it doesn't lock features behind a paywall, can add custom fonts, etc. the low star rating is because it doesn't allow you to save images with a transparent bg (so pngs) so any work you did is lost in an error, and there's also no undo button or way to access items underneath the top layer of text, like if you have two elements overlapping. that said, fantastic app outside of that.

I've used this app for 10 years, it's the best app for fonts, adding text to photos, making memes, making your own flyers or logos or anything you want to add text or words to. It has tons of really good fonts, for real, like actual good ones, and you can add fonts really easy. I truly love this app, I redownload it every time I get a new phone, no lie.

This used to be brilliant. It had many different styles, colours and ways out doing everything I want from it. However it suddenly stopped allowing me to upload my photos so it is useless. I have not even recieved an apology or how to correct it. I have read now that so many people are giving similar comments... the saying.. if it isn't broken don't fix it well this app is useless so fix it!

it's good for writing with different fonts in different language in different languages, good for designing anything... but the problem is that you can't save that image or share...+ You have to move the fonts manually. outside the app...so you can write anything you want in any font you like, but you can save it or share it. phonto should be updated.

This is a fantastic app that does what it should do and has so many font and other visual options to help get the look and purpose I need! And it's so easy and direct to use! Never had a problem with it! Thanks!! / UPDATE (2025): First review up there was 4 years ago. I had loved this app. Now it's gone from five stars to one. I cannot save images after adding watermark. Error message pops up instead. I have to screenshot page and then crop it in order to save image. What happened to this app??

I've been using this app for years and usually it's amazing. But lately, it's been having a lot of issues when I try to save my photos. I often get an error message that says "attempt to invoke virtual method on a null object reference." It doesn't matter what photo or font I use, it keeps giving me this error message. And I'm using the same process I've used for years. Please fix this, I don't want to have to go to another app.

This app is good. Free to use plus you can always download new fonts from their(?) website. But it is a matter of sorrow that we can not make an account and save our data in it to reuse it further in future. I accidentally re-started my phone and lost 100+ fonts I downloaded in the past years! T_T I hope the software team comes with an update in the future.

I bought the Paid version to get rid of the ads, and because I found that I was using it more and more because it is easy and does what I want. I would love to see an option for persistsnt sorting, so when I open a Pic in a folder & sort by new, the next Pics would also be sorted by new. Also, a way to change the default Save location would be great. And a way to rotate text in 45° or 90° increments would be nice, too. Are you still updating this app?

Does what it should. Simple app for adding text to images with more than enough font options (even the option to add your own from your files), and the necessary formatting options. One small thing that I would like added is the option to select a portion of text inside a text box to change the formatting of, rather than having to choose the entire text box. Still, great app, and I appreciate not having to pay for it like other apps do.

compared to iOS, sadly this app is missing the other half of its feature set: boarders. I used phonto as much for the fonts as I did for adding boarders to a photo, and on my iPhone I liked phonto because it allowed me to give non-square photos a square boarder, right in the same clean, minimal app I'd add text on. Other apps are overwhelming.. and I love phonto for it's minimal and to the point design. But please, bring the boarders to android.

Photo is so useful , especially when your a fanpage in TikTok ! 🫶 , the quality is so nice to , but if you don't know how to use Photo , first go to the three dots in the right top of your screen ! and then go to the three line on the left on your screen ( the hamburger thing ! ) and then you can see the options like... example : : massager , screenshots and a lot more ! ‼️ but if you want to make themes using a video , search vont in play store. ( if you have an android ! ) , any apps !

I loved this App, but it lost a few things. For one, you used to be able to add photos and had the choice for them to appear as any letter of the alphabet and a multitude of shapes. That was so cool. I made a lot of creative arts this way, but no longer. There were once templates, filters, more fonts. WTH?

I have used this program for a couple of years, I believe by now, it has been a couple years now, it is the best program for accomplishing text on photos. only thing that cold make it better is to automate the process, ie. put the same text in the same spot on ever file/photo I choose, or even from a said directory, instead of having to individually place and save then load and reapply.

This app is a great tool for creating simplistic thumbnails for YouTube or just creating memes for your friends. You can import any font you've downloaded and use it. I gave it 4 stars because while your able to save edits and return to them later, there is no auto save feature which means you'll have to remember to save your image as a project before you leave the app. Also, I've not seen a way to auto center text, which can be a bit annoying. It is a great app for being free and I'm happy!

Great! Until recently... Don't know what happened but in the last few days, it only gives me 3 album options to choose from to edit. Phonto used to access my entire phone album but now I'd have to search by date! And there's very few settings to check to try and fix this, if at all. I uninstalled it then reinstalled it but no dice. It's basically now unusable.

Used to be the best darn meme tool period. Until a recent update where you can only install fonts via Google fonts, they fixed it to allow other TrueType fonts. But now I have problems saving my images on the new version. It keeps getting errors during the saving and sharing process. The only I can save the image is if I do a screenshot. I hope you fix this error, otherwise I might have to find a new app.

Perfect! I didn't know I could pay for the ad free version until today and immediately purchased it and now I'm writing this! This is genuinely the best experience with adding text to pictures. The controls are simple AF and I crank out memes like it was my job!! The font collection is excellent as well, plus the amount of details you can change.....I will LITERALLY never use another app for text, this is the one. Like stop looking, it does NOT get any better than this I assure you!!!

This app is great, for what I use it for anyway. I use it to make thumbnails for my YouTube videos, and this is great for doing that, the app allows you to write things with custom downloaded fonts and let's you edit the texts size, shadow, outline, and colour. You can even add gradients to your text. The only ads I've come across are at the end after you've saved your image ams I'm very happy with that

It works great for putting text on photos, but what's even cooler, in my opinion, is that I can put another image into the photo I'm editing. Then easily move the inserted image around on the photo, and reduce, or increase its size to fit anywhere on the photoll. Phonto, has the easiest to use tools. I like to mix reality, and make believe in photos. Sometimes my avatar wears a T-shirt with an image of me on it. Beneath the photo it reads, The Real Me. I thought it was clever, LOL.

This is one of my favorite apps except lately it hasn't really been working like I will go and put my font onto a photo and when I hit the okay button my font never shows up. So periodically I have to delete the app for a while and then re load so that it'll work for a little bit and then it stops working. It's very frustrating because I love this app so much..

Great writer's app. If you find it difficult don't quit, it takes some meaningful effort to learn all the ins and outs. Many of the compliants I've read were mine, too, until I kept trying to figure out how to correct my issues. Keep going, folks, it's the best app for writing.

Lots of options and seemingly easy to use, however there is too much guess and check due to the preview image not accurately adjusting in regards to the "style" tab and adding shadow and text color etc. It almost never looks the same on your actual text if using more than maybe 3 words. So i would say recommended for single word prints sure, but not lengthy quotes.

Great app to put names and info onto photos or artwork , I've used Phonto for years to make album covers for local bands in my area. For flyers about garage sales , boxes of kittens and events at the VFW and American Legion . I've never had a problem with this app until recently. I can't change the colour of the fonts i can pick red or whatever but the art stays black? I can still resize, curve, point of perspective etc. Just cant change the colour. I'd give it more stars if it would let me

I am just blown away by this app. I'm a cynical old person who isn't easily pleased but this app offers a really great level of customised text, custom fonts from zips, shadowing, curving, outlines, multiple layers of photos, and several other features that just knock it out of the park. I can edit a photo in snapseed, bring it into phonto and add text exactly how I want to. Even handles obscure fonts and glyphs like Farsi that don't work well in illustrator. Frankly ingenious.

I've always loved this app! It's my go-to for adding text to everything! I still like it but ever since I got a new phone, not only did I lose the hundreds of fonts that I've downloaded but also all of the drafts I've had saved. And I paid for the ad free version on my old phone but that didn't transfer over so I had to pay for it all over again. Which isn't a huge deal but I just wish I would have been able to retrieve my lost fonts and drafts.

This is actually a REALLY good text editing app!! It has simple controls that allow for both precision and accuracy in text placement, and a bunch of non-obscure fonts, (including the wii sports font.) The ads aren't super in the way, only showing up after you're done with a project or as a small banner. I fully reccomend it! :D

Works great! I use it for flyers for my shows. It's very user friendly as I am somewhat of a tool, at times. It's very easy to understand and if you make a few cool flyers, you forget it's a free app and you can't open a shop selling web flyers and make a million dollars. I can't afford much for advertising so, all jokes aside, it's saved me quite a bit of money.

I love the Phonto app, but I honestly feel there are a lot of limits to it. For instance, because there are many sizes to your photos, you can't crop your chosen image to your liking and it honestly doesn't make sense. Asides from that, Phonto is a great app for aesthetics but I feel like you're just a little close to perfect— you can do better.

Photo middle of the road for me. It would be so much better if you could zoom in on what it is your working on. For smaller font that's have thin typeface it makes it hard to get things exactly where the need to be. That and recently I've had quit a bit of difficulty installing fonts. Where as previously it wasn't such a struggle to find one that works.

I enjoy the app tremendously for adding text to my drawings. My only complaint after the first week is I can't seem to close one project and open another without leaving the app in between, closing my current project out. Maybe you could add an "open project" link in the drop menu? Otherwise, custom font shapes, colors, shadows, and plenty of other text tweaks are really, simply available.

I love the app but can you please add it a feature wherein the user can connect the app in either Google, Facebook, or Sign up so that the downloaded fonts will not be erased when the app is downloaded in other device. I hope you will sooner or later read this because I want that to happen so bad!!! 😄😁😄 And I wish you could also add a feature where a user can zoom in and out the picture and is able to erase (NOT delete) the text. It's fine for beginners or non-tech savy users. I don't want to rate this zero because I'm sure some people might find this app easy to use. But as an editor that uses picsart and canva - I can't actually see the use for this for me personally. It's a very vanilla app that is safe, easy, and not much thought or creativity is necessary to use this app. That's both good and bad. Good for the beginners, bad for us that have edited on our phones (when on the go) so download what's best for you

Best typesetting app out there. Can get you some epic text-only pictures with its built-in transparent background option which you can edit later in another app, or if you're in a pinch you can just add text on top of any picture in your gallery with tons of stuff you can do to it in app alone. Text movement is clean, crisp as precise, ,nd to top it all off, you can add as many of your own fonts as you please - all for free. Very versatile and feature-rich for not a single penny.

I love this app, but one suggestion to make it better ? I would ask that you make it possible to add a photo from camera roll to the color options and background options. And possibly a bevel and emboss options, mainly the photos though ! Like what photoshop on the PC is capable of doing. Sadly, no apps, including photoshop are able to do this on a mobile phone and it'd be super convenient if it could!!! Then I'd give 5 stars!

Love using Phonto to create one of a kind imagery with my poetry. It allows for the kind of versatility I need in order to create the style I envisioned in my head for a specific piece. I have many lots of font option to choose from and styles within the font to make each poem / page unique. Thanks for giving me a great tool to have that is easy to use and versatile!

Highly recommended I'm a major geek for any type of editing apps. By far Phonto is the best one I've come across. Its very easy and simple to use. So many font options and you can also download your own fonts! The only issue I have with it is just the time it takes to export your photo. Maybe I'm just impatient or maybe it really does take a long time. I'm still giving it a 5-star for its user-friendlyness, and its amount of font options! I think this is perfect for any type of photo editing!

I don't really like this app, it has many issues. For one, when I try to add a custom font using the custom font option, it cuts off half of it so I can't even see what the text says! It does the same thing when I use a capital letter. Won't let me save images, constantly kicks me out for no reason, is buggy and laggy. I could go on and on. This app is definitely not one I recommend.

I think this is probably the best FREE “text over image” app out there. You can use your own images, and you can use your own font collection (although it comes with a very nice collection of fonts). Several improvements could be made; but, the app is far superior to others and deserves the five stars I gave it.

This is a great app to edit images with. You can add text, add images on top of other images. The creative features give you a range of looks and there's a bunch of fonts. Literally loads of fonts. You can even download your own from the Internet to use with the app. I used this for many things such as a profile picture for my business. It gives really professional look if you know how to use it properly. Just play around with it and you'll be a pro pretty easily if you know photoshop. 😊✨

The app is so easy to use. Very simple, and you don't need tutorials on how to use it! The one thing is, I have problems in making my texts the exact perfect size that I need, so if maybe you could add a zoom in and zoom out, I'd really appreciate it. Hope you can have this feature updated in the near future. This app will last long in my phone, it will prolly not be uninstalled forever, haha.

Color stopped working. They get me used to this app and really loving it and then all of a sudden I can't add any color. I have updated the app, tried several things, the only time I can add color is if I put it on curve but then you can't break up any text. And I don't want my letters on curve so I'm going to look for another app. It really just makes me wonder if they gave me time to get used to it and now want me to pay for an upgrade.

I used to love using this app for editing and it was so easy to download fonts, but recently my downloaded fonts stopped showing up in the app. I tried updating the app, and uninstalling and reinstalling it again. I even deleted the fonts and re-added them, but nothing has worked. Please fix the problem and I will change my rating because this is a good app, but this problem is pissing me off.

The app is cool, but would be cooler with more customizable color and blurring options, would be cool if when you blur the shadow behind a stroke, the shadow didn't dim in appearance, and please, give me the option to get out of dark mode. This is the only app I use with a white background. Because I use a black background for my text. This is very hard to see with my astigmatism.

This is one of the apps I would recommend to use if you want to add text ! It has the least number of ad , I have ever seen . You can download font from different websites and use it and if you don't even want to do that , there are variety in this app also ! I hardly write description about an app but this one needs !!! This is exactly what I need to edit photos, their fonts make everything just so pretty! There's the problem that they sometimes don't fit and get cut in half but after that the app is great! Just be careful if you try to use a complicated or big font as it isn't really kind with those. Would consider giving 5 full stars if that problem was fixed tho.

A good ap for adding text to pics. It isn't the easiest or fastest thing, as you have to keep selecting options rather than use finger gestures. That might actually be better on cheaper or less responsive phones. I really do like that the fonts are labeled by name, so user can know & memorize which styles are best. The thing I Would ask is to make all editing movements done while you see the picture.

It's a great app to use for writing any word out on any photo in different styles and different color as well. There's a lot of styles to choose from, print, cursive, bold, but they all have their own unique name. You can also increase or decrease words and rotate. And best of all you can add pictures inside of a of a picture or on pictures basically put 4 pictures in one picture or more.

I've used this app for quite a while, both on my old iPhone and on my current Android. The Android version DOES NOT have the capability to take pictures in the app like the Apple version; instead, you have to take a picture with your phone's camera, then open the app and select the image you want to write on/edit, which takes more time and is kind of annoying. Don't get me wrong though, I use it for "watermarking" all of my instagram pictures and it does the job well.

Free! And the ads don't bother me at all-- It's a welcome pause. By the way I do use it on an Android and it works very well. I particularly use for adding text. Really like the free font selection and colors choices, and that I could outline them or add shadows It's really quite perfect. Wish it had a way to add a sheer text box. But appreciate nonetheless.

Very good! I got it last year and I absolutely LOVE it! Only I would like to see the same fonts as on a computer please. (I use an android phone). Because I was looking for a specific font and, it wasn't there even though I saw it somewhere else, when someone was using the app. And if some of the fonts could be a bit more clearer that would be extremely appreciated! The best app for photo editing by far but unfortunately, that's only if you are using an iPhone / iPad. The app goes from 10/10 to a 1/10 when using an Android phone. Disappointing! Some guy by the name of uthhr is responding to people criticising the app for its poor android productivity, by saying "by an iPhone". Wow, what a great solution?!?!

A no learning curve, text with background color, and precision size and placement. And Russian keyboard friendly. What's not to like??? By far the easiest way to make an address label or business card, or drop text on pictures and photos. And if you want to work from a full page blank image simply screen capture a blank page and load it into the app as if from the gallery.

Would be nice if you could save presets of your previous work so you can just keep making numerous versions of the same without starting over, also I would like it if when I pasted text it would automatically make it fit into the picture in a proper structure because how it is now the words just keep going off the picture to the right as one long sentence, a lot of quote maker apps do this and it would just truly make this app perfect if it could do that.

I've been using this app for over 3 years and to be honest, theres so much more you can do than just add texts to photos.... I'm a graphic designer so I guess any tool can be awesome in the hands of the right person... I would however like If I was able to undo an action as well as be able to edit the added image like tap and bring it above everything....also it would be amazing if the ad free option came with the image packs and be able to share editable templates.

It's only been installed less than a minute but already I can tell you Phonto is the perfect go-to text tool. Simple and Fast. Nice easy to read fonts in a variety of legible typefaces for any occasion. Super Easy controls. You can even apply a color pattern. But honestly, you should hate the ads and just buy the app. That's exactly what I did. I know I'll be using this app a lot.

I use this app for thumbnails on YouTube all the time and I love it! Sometimes it gets annoying how you have to pay for some stuff and how you can only import one photo. Maybe if you could add more fonts it would be nearly perfect. Other than that I enjoy this app and hope to see more like it in the near future!

Good fonts, good interface, no intrusive ads, and overall, a great app! Well, until you see the finished image or the preview... The placement of text on the editor, preview, and finished file are all different. For example, text is slightly moved to the right in the preview and finished file. This is usually fine, until you want to center something or fit text in a certain place on an image. This should be an easy bug to fix (I know as I am a programmer myself), but it still hasn't been fixed!

This is by far the best text adding app out there. if you are willing to deal with a few ads, this is the best! on any photo with any font you want, lots of colors and sizes. It is easy to put the text where you want it, and you can easily make a professional looking photo in seconds!!! As long as you have tough enough skin to handle some ads (hopefully you do 😑), then this is the greatest text adding app ever!!!

Finally a good font selection. The app needs a lot of work but what it does is very promising. The font selection and uploading own fonts are winners. If the first choice of selected attributes are remembered it will be even better as it is a time consuming and annoying after a while. Its UI takes some guessing how it works but it's fast. The saving process is not properly presented so it's easy to miss a fleeting message that it has successfully saved. Great for making cards.

great app with hundreds upon hundreds of fonts available, it's easy to use, you can change the font colour to virtually any colour imaginable. It's great. only concern is that sometimes when I save my photo the text size or colour changes after it's saved to my gallery even though it's how I want it when it's shown in the app. very annoying as I'll have to go back and remake the photo. any way you can fix this?

First off. those of you BEGGING for features like in the IOS version, read the description. this app has always done just what I needed it to. I write on apps a lot and this helps me make story covers. And it's not hard to download fonts from a website. I couldn't be happier with how this app functions and it saves every time! Great app! I reccomend it to any online writers!

I adore this app. I use it for my edit photos or photo with texts. But the only issues here are: 1.) Sometimes, there are inappropriate ads. 2.) When I add a gradient pattern and add a shadow, the colors of the gradient match with the shadow. And the only way to remove it is adding stroke. But sometimes I DON'T WANT a stroke.

Something I think would help users: you are having issues about it being blurry or sharp after saving obviously it's a great idea to screen shot it and then crop the image. It's not that hard. My Feedback: The app is FANTASTIC!! One feature that needs to be added would if you made it so people can select their own colour using a colour spectrum. You shoudl also add a place where people can input a # so then people can get the exact colour they want without doing anything!

If you're looking for a basic, free watermarking app, this works. There are a variety of fonts & color options, the basic necessities. The Android version has none of the IOS features that would make it worth using or paying for anything. I wouldn't spend money on any of the in-app purchases when there are so many high-quality, free options on other apps like Photofy. Photofy also allows you to edit pictures and fade your backgrounds for free.
