For anyone searching, the last known working version of the app is 1.25.0.26. I have kept app updates disabled and have not had any issues with notifications, auto unlock, touch to unlock, auto lock, passes, key cards, or poor battery life. I do not have the WiFi bridge (came out after I purchased the lock) so do not know if this app version works with the WiFi bridge. I've tried all app updates and consistently revert to 1.25.0.26. Always says it's offline and can't connect to my ring app. App kept randomly opening. Had to uninstall.

Abuses Android permissions. Refuses to function unless granted precise location, but the Nearby Devices permission is sufficient for BLE communication. Location should only be required for the (buggy, poorly-implemented) auto-unlock feature. Developers chose to arbitrarily lock basic lock/unlock functionality behind an extremely invasive permission; this violates Play Store guidelines and should result in removal.

I use infrequently because its for a relative's home. I t worked once or twice but has never worked since despite re-ivinting, uninstall/reinstall, check for updates. It is not a good app, very unreliable.

level locks are the perfect add to a smart house. choose any lock you like and make it smart without the large interior piece. always recommended

notifications are delayed when it comes to battery so I've had experience where I've been locked outside of the house because they had enough power to lock the door but not enough power to unlock which is crazy. if the battery is low there needs to be some kind of logic that does not let it lock so a person does not get locked out of the house or at least gives them a notification at that time. also why is it 4 years and still no support for Google wallet tap to unlock???

Do not purchase this item. I had it installed for 6 months and it worked without issue. it then started shorting out and eating batteries. level is claiming this is an installation issue.

If the lock doesn't engage all the way, like it gets stuck or caught on something, it will not display as locked, but there is no option to unlock it. So you're stuck with a lock that is partially locked and no option in the app to unlock it. I told them about this YEARS ago, and said I wouldn't buy another until they fixed it (and I haven't), and last I checked, they still haven't fixed it. If it doesn't fully lock for whatever reason, you're stuck, because there's no way to unlock it w/the app

I use the lock, bridge and keypad for my Bed & Breakfast. I've had it a few months and has worked so great. I have a fob for each room and it works seamlessly. I don't use the location Bluetooth unlocking, but who needs it when you have a fob or the keypad. So super easy. My only complaint so far is when I'm in a bad cell service or wifi location, the app gets buggy.

I have a man cave in my back yard and the app works great. I lock 🔐 and unlock it when I have people over to feed my dog when I am out of down they can grab a beer or use the rest room and then when they leave I lock it from anywhere in the world I am at the time love this product.

never connects the first time, you always have to try multiple times and even then you're lucky to get in. today I got home and had to take a dump in the bushes because my damn lock wouldn't open genius concept horrible execution.

The Level Bolt is an amazing piece of hardware engineering, but the Wi-Fi version has many issues. Upgraded to the Matter version and resolved issues.

Woof. This company is full of a bunch of Apple fanboys and they can't figure out how to implement parity on the Android/Google side. I can't support companies like this.

I do really love the convenience of having this lock, but there is one thing I'm missing. It would be amazing if you could create a lock screen or home screen widget that I could use to lock and unlock without having to search for and open the app. If that feature was added, easily 5 stars

Level claims that the Level bolt is designed for wooden exterior doors because their system only uses Bluetooth and not wifi like most other smart locks! Don't buy a Level lock if you have a wooden core metal exterior door, it will only work about 25% of the time!

cannot for the life of me get this app to reliably lock and unlock my door. this is a huge issue, as i could get locked out of my house. this should be a top priority for them to fix. I just get "unknown error".

how do you design an app for a lock and not have a scheduling feature

very glitchy & unreliable. Once you get a lock working, it will work very well. But it takes multiple tries, multiple firmware update attempts, factory defaulting every time something doesn't go perfectly and IMMENSE patience. I would not recommend level products to non techy amateurs. I work professionally in surveillance/security technology and I'm pulling my hair out. if it wasn't the ONLY consumer product on the market that fits my needs for one particular gate lock, I wouldn't buy any

It used to work well, but recently as I send invitations, they accept it but when trying to lock or unlock (Level Bolt), it gives error messages and doesn't work at all. I have contacted support and did everything they said to try, and yet nothing! This is so frustrating. It became useless except for me and one more family member who has access. But doesn't work for any new invites for Passes and People. Nada.

Shows "critically low battery" and doesn't work, even after changing battery and reinstalling the app. iPhone version works fine.

Latest "update" to the android all made it far more difficult to use, and it no longer works with Level WiFi Connect. The second you set up the wifi, the device immediately shows offline. The old version had no issues with WiFi, and the Apple version works fine. You need to fix your application since it makes the lock use frustrating. Update: It seems like the app is flawed compared to the old version. If WiFi is off, the level connect appears offline. Basically, you can't use cellular data.

They can make all the claims they want to about Touch to Unlock but the bottom line is that it doesn't work. They need to fire their current dev team and hire a team who has a clue.

7/22/25 Updates: Level fixed the issue with Version 2.1.0.42. Original Comment: Latest version breaks Level Connect! I spent more than 3 hours via online chat with tech support, going through rudimentary troubleshooting steps. I then set up and connected my Level bolt via iOS, and remote w/ Level Connect function just fine. I have an email record from Level confirming they are aware of this issue and are working on a fix.

works well. had problem with app starting every time I set phone on panera bread table. turns out nfc was enabled and caused weird behavior. it stops if you turn nfc off.

Latest update to this app has caused it to quickly drain my phone battery. Even though the app had less than 1m of screen time, it used more battery than always on display. Lots of packets sent which I assume is what was causing the battery drain. Uninstall/reinstall didn't fix the issue, so I have had to deepsleep the app and prevent it from running in the background.

a useless app for an expensive paperweight. save your money and sanity. it doesn't work more than 25% of the time and that's probably being generous. auto unlock does not work in a specifically because of stupid geofencing rules. I constantly get locked out of my house checking on my mail or taking out the trash

the app is fine but my battery went out on my lock and now nothing works. should be simple as replacing the battery, but no the level connect doesn't find my lock and the lock is inoperable without the connect. stupid

Somehow the most recent update has made the app even worse. Now a dialog window pops up telling me I'm out of range (I'm not) that must be closed before being able to hit the button to lock or unlock. Adds even more unnecessary time and user actions to use the lock.

Great product. The earlier app versions were not as stable but the latest one is much better. I have it on my front door and back house. we have three kids so I have needed to lock and unlock the door while away many times.

The new app is a huge improvement. much smoother pairing and operation. note that my Samsung Z Flip had all the app permissions turned off and so I needed to enable that first.

Faulty design of the lock which lacks some thrust to force lock especially when it is designed to work with other brands. Faulty app that doesn't update status through wifi dongle and gives error unable to lock when it actually has the bolt all the way???!!!

I put them on my front & back doors and set them to lock automatically every night, so I know my family is safe every nite.

Awesome new app I have been using level for a while and I really like the product, but the app wasn’t the most user friendly. The recent app update though has made it super great and easy to use. I love not having to use a key for all of my homes, and the app has improved so much. 10 stars!

I've had the Level Lock for a while have been impressed the the various features available through the App. The install is straight forward. I use the touch to lock on a daily basis and love how easy it is to share with friends and family.

It's a good app. It makes coordinating with people easier when our schedules don't match. solid lock too.

Not very reliable, few updates for a costly product

When trying to setup my lock for the first time I'm guided to the end of the set up tutorial and then only given the option to "Skip". When I'm presented with the option to pair my device the app crashes after ~30 seconds, despite the lock responding with a "chirp" as expected. Clearing the cache, redownloading and updated the app and the set up device to Android version 14 didn't effect the experience. I was looking forward to this product working out of the box but severely disappointed.

Cannot sign in to the app because the button is greyed out after I enter my password

Great concept, but auto unlock doesn't work on Pixel 8. I've tried everything. It doesn't even show auto-unlock status in the app like the directions say it's supposed to.

Why it doesn't work?

The Level Home App is so darn slow. I swear, if there was a serial killer on the loose right behind me - I'd be unalived. That's how slow it is.

This has to be one of the worst purchases I have ever made in my life. Stay away from this product. Touch Unlock remained broken for Android for over a year. Now the battery dies and I can't get into my house through the fob. Been locked out two times. I had my door on a low setting, battery died in a matter of weeks. They don't warn you in the app that it's dying. I had to destroy my level lock to get in the house. Will not buy again.

Had some issues with firmware update not working and calibration. However after restarting my phone, it did correct the problem and firmware did install and calibration was a success

Unreliable! always have physical key with you!

What's the point of the "calibrate" option, when it's not calibrating ANYTHING use the extension cap to rectify the lock being sunk into the door 1/4". Door looks better but will not lock all the way in,one would think this would be the purpose of the calibration I guess that would be too easy and appear to be too much common sense used. So after 1 hour with customer support, I guess my options are limited with a sunken lock and a useless calibration button.

My apartment complex installed locks and a thermostat but I can't see them in the app. It hasn't worked once so I haven't been able to use my lock or thermostat, good job 👍🏻

Wish I could give No Stars! This product and app sucks. It just stopped working randomly one day. Changed the battery and no signs of life. Uninstalled app and reinstalled... Lock is completely kicked off and will not re-pair with any devices also no chirps or signs of life during battery reinstall. Customer service is USELESS. They told me to find the serial number inside the lock. If I have to undo my whole lock to find the serial number it's going in straight in the trash. 🤬🗑️🚫👎🏽

App uses more battery on phone than others and rarely works as advertised.

Rarely connects to lock for touch to unlock, I have given all permissions possible and have the app pinned to ensure its always on and still it won't work. Yes, I leave the geo-fence area and meet at the prerequisites to no avail. For this price this device should be flawless. Additionally, the lock notifies me that the battery needs to be replaced within 2 weeks of a new battery, yet I ignore it for quite some time and it still works. Absolute waste of money.

The lock is great but the app stinks and the connect isn't any better.

Worked well for the first few months, but then the auto unlocked stopped working, and after the person is already inside, THEN it unlocks. I replaced the battery and now it doesn't work at all. Very expensive lock that doesn't work via the app, so we're back to using the key, which defeats the whole point of buying this. App suggests firmware update but "update" button doesn't work. Overpriced doorknob at this point.

Terrible experience

What a horrible app. Unresponsive. Slow. Extremely basic. Virtually everyone does it better.

This company has the worst customer service. I have been trying to get my locks to work for 3 weeks now and nothing. I have been calling and sending emails with no response. Don't waste your time and energy with them. Wish I could give 0 stars.

The app really blows, trying to get a deadbolt connect always makes the app crash. I'm checking out other reviews and they confirm the incompetence of this company. STAY AWAY FROM THIS, DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY!

Now the level app auto unlocks for you. Before there is no time limit how long you need to be away for the level lock to unlock. Now you have to be away for a minimum of 10 minutes then come for level lock to unlock. I get it you added in. Very very very inconvenience when both hand are full. I have to drop my bag to get the key or reach out for my phone to unlock the door.

Won't let me log in. After you put in the password the botton to submit is Greyed out and not functioning

Support is slow. Took 10 days after the first email to hear from support. I have them the info they needed and now it's been 7 days of silence. Thermostat is not accurate in temperature or with adjustments via the app. Thermostat doesn't kick in until 2-3° past the set temp then my unit runs all day trying to catch up - very efficient.

My apartment building switched from Vivint to Level and the experience has been very negative. The lights are not responsive, the app provides the wrong temperature (says its 30 degrees in my apt when it's 70), and this it fails to integrate with Google home every time I attempt. I didn't recommend this product.

I took some time but the customer service was very professional on handling and resolving the issues with the app and now the Home lock is exactly what I intended to purchase. Thank you Level Home.

Disappointing and Unreliable! We've been using the Key Level app for a two years now, and I am extremely disappointed. The app is riddled with bugs and crashes frequently, which makes it almost impossible to use. The interface is clunky and outdated, and it takes forever to get into our house. We are back to using our door key! Go figur!

Unable to share lock with others it says invitation is pending but people never get an invitation. Automatic unlock stopped working and hasn't worked for months now. This is an expensive lock I like that it isn't big and bulky but am totally disappointed with the functionality of it. Would not recommend. Update June 2024 The only thing worse than lock itself is the now useless App. This is by far the most disappointing purchase I have made in last 10 years. Absolute trash.

Crashes

Was fine at first, but after I tried to activate my lock, the app does nothing but instantly crash. Fortunately my wife has an iPhone and the iOS version seems to work fine. This is incredibly disappointing for an expensive piece of hardware that advertising cross-platform functionality... My advice is to stay away from this product unless 100% of the people you want to use it are on iOS.

Really dislike this door lock. I currently have the level deadbolt, its really slow the app is useless. At times I'm litteraly locked out of my own home because the app won't connect or the deadbolt won't unlock.

Create a new update. The June update has made locking and unlocking via the app intermittently accurate. App says it locks and standing next to the door, it doesn't lock, and vice versa.

Nothing but trouble for 2 years. My geofence auto unlock has only worked a couple handful of times randomly over last two years. Waste of money

Can not setup lock. App keeps crashing on startup

The app is so buggy that I couldn't even get my first lock installed. I'm probably going to have to return the others I bought if I can't even set up the locks.

As soon as I sign in the app crashes so I can't access or pair my lock. Customer service has suggested I return the lock assuming I am still within return policy and purchase a new lock, not sure how that would fix the app crashing.

Having some major stability issues with the app and connections to the level bolt. Seems like an issue with the app as it working fine for a long time.

I just bought this lock. Spent $199 on it brand new at Lowes and now it won't work. App allows me to sign in then it crashes. WHY???? What the heck is wrong with companies these days that think this is okay. If I wanted to use a key I would not have paid $200 for a electronic lock. This needs to be fixed NOW!!

Too many issues

Doesn't allow me to login. The continue button is disabled every time. It expects to have special characters in password where as in webpage (level.co) it doesn't allow special characters.

App Never work. Lock keeps disconnecting . Cheap locks with basic setup are much better than this.

The recent update is not working and now I can't login to my account. Level techs have no idea what they are doing to help rectify this inconvenience.

We were forced to switch to this on my apt complex, and it doesn't work properly. I hope they will fix it.

This product was great until it wasn't. I have a level bolt and a level connect. My level connect recently stopped working. I've been in a days long back and forth with their support team. They've demanded that I screen record, and video all my attempts to fix it. If I don't send those videos, they'll close my case. This is the most involved support experience. I'm much happier with my august lock, but my wife thinks they're too ugly for the front door.

Can you fix the app. I can't create passes and see passes that were created on android for the last 3 versions!

This has never worked. I've had a support ticket open for 2 weeks. No update. No response. I will call every day until I can use my smart lock and connect to my thermostat. Ridiculous.

I am part of a Mandatory "Upgrade" to our apartment complex. I think the system install is more for the corporation that owns the systems than it is for us. The app is SUPER buggy!! It keeps restarting and taking over my phone. The app opens and restarts itself over and over. I am lucky when I can quickly uninstall the app otherwise I just can't use my phone. The lock & thermostat work well. I haven't had issues yet. I am happy for the most part. I just wish the app wasn't so whacky.

There needs to be a audible phone alert and or chime when the door is not locked, or will not lock. Auto unlock doesn't work well.

Hardware is fine, Software on the other hand cannot be trusted. Company should honestly face a class action lawsuit. I'm sure there are other like me who have had to face the situation of being unintentionally locked out due to something so simple.

my community just installed this system and it sucks. I came from having an August lock and Nest thermostat. I've lost a ton of features and settings I could apply. Everything is all manual now. and the app works sometimes and doesn't sometimes.

The auto unlock is unreliable to the point it's comedic and more frustrating when it actually works. No indication of battery level in app. The lock tells you it's at low battery when it only has one or two more cycles left. Shame because it's a neat looking product but the app is terrible.

Awful app, inconsistent and unreliable. I'm forced to use this for my apartment complex, but am luckily moving soon and I know to use literally any other platform. Thermostat changes are rarely successful through the app, it's ridiculously slow, support is slow to respond, and the features are very minimal. You can't even set up a schedule for your thermostat. Would not recommend this to anyone.

Does not connect to Ring despite saying works with Ring. Have to force stop the app every time I want to use it. Regrettable purchase and terrible app. Month later, still having issues where the app won't let me access my shared user section. Can't add a level connect. App is absolute trash and support goes round and round in circles making you uninstall and reinstall it. Fix your code!!!!

Doesn't tell you it's battery is low until you are locked outside in cold. Takes a minute for app to realize it's in Bluetooth range the level connect takes longer than Bluetooth. Do not buy or download. I left home had the dog walker added to the card she gets there it doesn't work I have the level connect It said offline. The app doesn't tell you when the battery is low or anything

Constant errors. Door lock feature rarely works and it won't let me control the fan for the AC unit if I want to turn it on or change it to auto.

I was able to open the app their first time to create an account as a temporary user. I needed access tk a friend's house, so he sent me the guest link. After which, I haven't been able to open the app for more than a second before it crashes.

The app is buggy and crashes frequently bad enough to the point that I have to get my keys out everytime I come home to use the FOB which is where the key is too. I have the auto lock disabled for fear of getting locked out during the day since I don't take my keys to walk in the yard. Oh and don't forget that its slightly bigger than normal so good luck going to a different after drilling the hole bigger. All this to save 1 second a day using the FOB versus a key.

LOL password won't allow lower case as first character, have to wonder if the app has any security at all.

Invite links simply don't work

The lighting is the only thing that is responsive. The majority of the time I launch the app it just endlessly loads so I have to close and reopen it. Controlling the thermostat feels like pure luck. It maybe works 5% of the time? Every time I try to adjust the temperature it takes 10 sec loading, and then the majority of the time it just reverts back to the original temperature.

I don't need to write anything others already mentioned. I'm changing my l Level lock soon.

As others have stated, the app is buggy and unreliable. The auto unlock feature usually doesn't work (once in a while it surprises me and works). Sometimes, the app freezes up when trying to open it, so I can't even unlock the door manually through the app. For these reasons, I always make sure I have my physical key with me because it's much quicker than the app. No issues with the hardware as of yet, all app-related problems. Please fix it!

The app now isn't responding at all. I have to force stop the app to get it to work. Since the update, the won't lock or unlock the door because it says I'm out range, even if I'm standing near the door. I have to try multiple times, and it rarely works. I have to check the door because the auto lock doesn't work all the time. Before the update, I didn't have these issues.

App is slow to open, slow to bring up settings. Crashes when attempting to pair doorbell to app, when it works, still shows the doorbell as being offline. Galaxy s23 most recent update.

Works for the most part. Can't seem to create temporary credentials with the future date, also calibrating the lock never seems to complete.

New app is always crashing

Writing this review locked out of my house trying to use level app that is showing that I'm out of range even though I'm right next to it. This is by far the worst purchase I made. App is full of bugs and unreliable. I would never recommend anyone using this lock or the app. U are the worst designed product I ever come across.

So far hasn't auto unlocked

March 15th release screwed up everything. The app doesn't open up and I'm un installing and reinstalling to make it work.

My building got this and replaced all of our Google nests. This app does not work. Now our thermostat doesn't do anything. My appartment will be 68.2 degrees no matter what I do. I'm unable to turn the heater on or the fan or the AC. Totally useless, I'm furious my building forced this on us. Do not use this product.

Very buggy, support is slow to respond and when they do they're less than helpful. The app no longer allows me to create temp codes. After assignment, they continue to display a spinner, and I have to kill the app, or it shows a failed sign, and then the code shows as pending in the list and never resolves. At times to code word even when the displays "pending". The phone, keypad, and lock are all within a few feet of each the other and at times, the lock shows a communication error. Theirs more

My apartment complex went from Dwelo to Level. The thermostat does not work correctly. There isn't an option to put the thermostat on a schedule. I just woke up cold again. I miss my smart Honeywell thermostat.

Currently the app won't even open for me

Desktop app requires new account to be made without using special characters. App requires it. I now can't use the app because it says I have an illegal password. Same happens if I do vice versa. This app is so impossibly bad I can't comprehend it

Keeps crashing when I try to add a lock

Do your research before buying. I've had it 2 years. Constant problems. App works great, then they do an update and it crashes. Very buggy. Multiple calls and emails to cs. They do answer the phone, but are off little help. I purchased a different manufacturer today, has good reviews, we'll see. I'd stay away from level

Generally works, but the app constantly opens by itself which is irritating as all get out. Also, why is there no ability to set a thermostat schedule?!

My apartment decided to attempt smart locks. Can't even login to the app can't hit continue on the login screen. App devs these days are jokes does nobody test their own products or are end users the testers. Thank God we still have the key locks.

The app keeps freezing on the install screen

To be fair, pairing was painful. The lock was flawless once the upgrade finished after a few failures. The wifi connect needed to be reset a couple of times. After all that though, I've connected it also via Google Home and everything seems solid now. I love the log of entries and how you can't tell it's a smart lock, since I live in an apartment.

Overall good purpose but very glitchy. 50% of the time the app tells me I'm too far to unlock or update when I'm standing right next to the lock. Other 50% of the time wont open unless I touch my phone to the lock. will randomly keep opening and I can't do anything else on my phone.

Doesn't add the lock. The same generated app.link works fine on iOS but just dumbly opens the app on Android. Edit: 2024-01, still the same, disappointing.

Does the job. App is extremely basic with no frills. It would be nice if there was a battery level indicator, and if there is, I have not been able to find it. It would be nice if it was located on the lock/unlock page. Pros: Easy to install, setup, and operate App is convenient Easy to replace battery Cons: No battery indicator Auto unlock takes a while to work

The company is putting out there unsafe products that do not work. Locks disconnected and are easy hackable. Search around for something better. I bought 3 of these, 2 level connects, 1 pad.. they all suck and the support even more. Spare yourself the problem.

Lock app not working

Just installed a level bolt, with the level connect. Overall the installation went smooth, though I did have to chisel out some space for the bolt to fit properly. Then I tried to install the software. Rather than upgrading directly to the latest firmware, it worked through a cycle of updating 3 or 4 interim firmwares. With multiple retries for each. The connect could not find my wifi which is very strong in the location I chose. Finally the app seems very slow on a S23 Ultra.

Bugs in app that made lock unusable. Level chose to give me a full refund instead of fixing app.

App for Android is poorly designed. The Apple version works much better though it does get flaky from time to time. Vendor should put more time and money on improving the Android app.

The app now opens almost every time I sit my phone down. I see no way to change a setting for this, so I am guessing it is a bug. As far as functionality, it has not worked through my Ring app for ages. It will only work if I am on my wifi, i.e., very close proximity to my door.

Waste of money. Level was instead before we purchased the house. The app states out of range when I am standing in front of the door. I changed the battery and still gave the same problem.

Faulty software. Unrealibility in the face of security sways me from upgrading and possibly even throwing it into the trash.

locks are super unreliable and ended up need to carry a physical key most of the time because it's not worth the hassle.

I have two level locks and love them. Super easy to install and can lock and unlock my doors with the use of level connect bridge. This app is easy to use and work without issue control the Level devices.
