stopped working after the new update, i used this app for 2 years with OBD MX+ i use a yearly subscription since i used to like this app a lot. after the new update it doesn't support OBD MX+ like before they force you to buy their own device only for customisations OBD MX+ does customisations with this app before but they block the support. i am unsubscribing from their paid future and deleting this trash app. 🗑️

Awesome tool. Was able to register some TPMS sensors on my Camry that my Techstream couldn't handle. Took several attempts, but it did the job.

Waste of money, the app showed it could put my parking brake into service mode, paid the monthly fee, and then it says it can't do it... don't waste your money on this!

Fake features advertised. Once you pay, half the options disappear, then they refuse to reimburse. edit: don't be fooled by their answers to my review. I did reach out to them. Their answer is essentially "T&C say that we don't reimburse and you accepted that".

Easy Peasy! I paid for a one month subscription and made several adjustments to my 2022 RAV4 Hybrid that would have cost my a lot more at a dealership.

Absolute SCAM! makes you go through an unnecessary "sign in" process, then a whole "loading screen" for 3-4 minutes (that i guarantee is unnecessary and just to make you invested), then when attempting to actually use the app, it just redirects you to give them 60 bucks for a "subscription". not to mention trying to convince you to buy their overpriced propriety scanner that is no better than the $8 amazon ones. Wish i could give less than 1 star.

it said I would get 30 day free trial if I sign up for yearly okay and not be charged today. it charged me full price and no free trial. edit. can't get anyone to contact me. I've written support twice and nothing. also, the app keeps telling me to sign up so I got restore but it will not let me use it. edit to respond, the free trail is on your site page when I was signing up for it so it should be honored!!! if you're not offering it then it needs to be taken down.

Updated review after resolution of the issue. The app is ok but honestly I was let down. It gets frequent updates but the paid subscription is annoying. The customer service is... there. The fact that it automatically sets your payment to a monthly subscription, even if you select the one month option, is still annoying and (may I say) shady. And let's not forget you need the Dongle extra. Overall an ok app but unless you have a specific niche you need to solve, I'd go with other options.

Purchased the Carista EVO OBD2 device then subscribed for full year on the app. Connected car, went to customization, and consistently reports connection error. Tried various scenarios of off and on states no luck. Browsed the other tools and all it does is act as a basic OBD2 reader. If you want to try this, maybe subscribe for the month, so if it doesn't work, you won't have to fuss with trying to get a refund. Asked Gemini about this and it said it was guaranteed to work for my need, wrong.

You pay 60 bucks for a scanner and yet you must pay additional fees to perform most functions with it. What a scam. Do not reccomend at all and don't give your hard earned cash to this scam company.

Big Tease. It lets you go all the way to the point of writing new tpms codes in the ID fields. Then it shows the save button. I click it, AND? Purchase for $60/year! I definitely wouldn't pay $60. But after that kind of tease I wouldn't pay $1. Uninstall.

You buy a car, you use it to change the setting once and it goes in a drawer for 4 years, till you're getting rid of the car and want to change things back but you can only pay £20 for a month or £60 for a year for the privilege, definitely need more subscriptions options if that's the way they want to go about it for something that gets use twice a decade.

used to be very good. especially for adjusting settings on audis but no reliability on Bluetooth hardware any more, don't waste your money like I did

This app is definitely not worth the price! I paid a measly £5 for Car Scanner lifetime and it gives the same functions as this app. This is just a glorified version. I do not recommend downloading or even paying for one month. I genuinely recommend just using Car Scanner and pay for that instead. Cat Scanner can do everything this app does and more. I do not recommend this app 👎🏾

constantly paywalling features. I can't even check my VW specific engine codes without paying a monthly subscription. I understand a subscription for customization, and even special mechanical abilities for maintenance (ie. haldex service), but when I can't even tell what's wrong without paying $20 a month what's even the point? I used to be able to do this, but now it's paywalled!

Should state that the app can't connect with JDM vechile computers deeply for the customisable features. So I paid for a one month subscription that I couldn't do anything more with than I could already access through the dash menu, infact i can do more with my factory adjustment menu.

This is a great way to set the options you want activated.

Too slow while performing diagnostic function

Purchased to turn on one custom feature on two of my cars it advertised as available. Neither could be turned on or even show up in the app. After having to pay a hefty one month subscription and purchase their obd2 device.

Don't be a sucker. You buy the scanner. Bought mine on Amazon. Then you have to buy a subscription. I bought the 30 day trial. $20. The web site lists loads of custom settings for my vehicle. Loaded it and found that half are not there and not supported. Still waiting on an answer from tech support. This is clearly misleading. Subscription is non refundable. Quite the hustle. Waste of money. Returned scanner to Amazon. Shame on Carista and Google for allowing this on the Play Store.

Too expensive for the monthly. After buying the dongle I have been led to believe you would get an introductory discount or one month free or something similar. Turns out there are less functions available than with a cheaper Walmart OBD2 dongle that is completely free once you've purchased that adapter.

why do I need an account for checking a local device??? why are you collecting personal data after forcing to register...

so, all of a sudden, without any prior warning, when I'm trying to use the device, I'm now receiving a message that the app (that was compatible with my device before) is no longer compatible with my device...and no upgrade is available...so, the device that I bought is now a totally useless piece of plastic. I will NEVER buy another product from Carista EVER again!

It Does not work with Audi A6 I have proof from their software that reported it couldn't connect & asked me to send debug report to carista so they could fix it. I've sent proof of not working & request a refund but no response from Carista. highly Do not recommend this App does not work with Audi A6.

Unimpressed. If the app says no errors found, and the abs light is on the dash, I'm not going to buy a subscription to see if it can see the abs error. If the trial version said abs error detected, I'd be inclined to pay. I had no confidence it would detect the fault so uninstalled it. Let it detect all the errors then offer a subscription to let the user clear them. That would improve the conversion rate.

Predatory Company. If you want to customize your car features, don't waste your money. This app doesn't have much and even changing one setting is considered "extensive use" and they will not honor their money back guarantee. Stay away!!

I have paid for one year, but the app keeps pushing for a subscription. Pressing “Restore” does not help. At this price level it should work flawlessly, without gimmicks or repeated subscription prompts, especially when I am logged into the same account. Furthermore, the app has become heavily commercialised. Previously it was possible to start a DPF regeneration directly from the app, but now that function appears blocked unless I buy your own OBD hardware. This is a major downgrade. Cancelled

bait and switch. purchased the hardware, then to actually use it I have to pay a lot of money for an app subscription. looking to return my carista device, but they refuse. legitimately stole my money among many others. I expect a class action law suit. they mislead, then try to charge you an arm and a leg for a service any mechanic will do for free. I'm serious, any mechanic will reset all the codes on your car for free

If you try 1 month subscribtion they automatically charge you for another month as soon as it ends, bloody theft App works fine for what it's made for, but this greedy auto renewal is a no go, wont use again.

Subscription model sucks. Prefer one time purchase. Unfortunately this is the only app that will change a specific setting on my Lexus. If you can get by with Car Scanner app use that instead, unfortunately it didn't have the setting I needed for my lift gate sensor.

Its a great tool but so unclear on what happens when you cancel subscrition - if you dont cancel you get stung for 60! If I cancel subscription it suggests it just stops so I could have paid for a year cancel to avoid repeat charge and lose access to what Ive paid for. feels very misleading.

App successfully connected to my BT ELM327 scanner, I paid a monthly subscription hoping I'd be able to register new car battery just to get a message that my OBD scanner is defective and I can't use the paid features. There's no support email to request refund at. edit: support email will get you in an endless argument with AI bot. BEWARE FUTURE USERS, MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTIONS ARE NOT REFUNDED EVEN THOUGH APP DOESN'T WORK AS ADVERTISED!!!

refuses to honor 14 day refund policy on software when not used extensively. app did not work with my car for service mode and they refuse to honor their refund policy. I have email proof of this and will be posting on car forums everywhere.

This app might be useless for some car brands. All basic functions are present but it really lacks the advanced functions they market on the app info. page. They're informing you that "i" some of the functions might not be available depending on the cars configuration. So if the car is equipped with the module it should scan and if it scans you should be able to execute any adjustments advertised. I was just trying to reset and re-write TPMS sensors on my Prius...as advertised.NO GOOD!

would be great if we could 'pin' or prioritise some features. I only regularly use 1 or 2 features, worries love a short cut to these features. it can be quite slow to navigate to and use them.

It's basically scam. They're telling that you can customise Fiesta but basically there is nothing that you can do. Don't waste your money with this scam.

You have to pay for their adaptor, and then if you want to change any settings on your car you have to pay a monthly subscription of TWENTY QUID!!! This is NOT made very clear when buying the gadget. Twenty quid just to turn off a dinging noise in my car. Feel like a right right mug now. Avoid this app.

the two features I only cared about customizing found out it actually didn't work and the other wasn't supported. So not only is this completly useless for me they claim they cant refund my subscription. So they force people to pay a subscription in addition to the product then only to find out it doesnt do what they want or claim, and refuse to offer a refund. Buyer beware. Do not get the 1 year subscription. Youll be wasting more money than a monthly subscription you won't get back.

Customize keeps saying vehicle not responding but everything else works.

Scam and money wasted. It doesn't even connect to their own brand dongle anymore. The only thing it's good at is showing You ads to spend more money. Since I bought it years ago it never actually worked (always asking for more money for anything that was supposed to work out of the box) but at least it was able to check and clear regular OBD2 codes (just like any $3 dongle). Now after some upgrades to the app it stopped doing even that. Can't connect to the phone at all, just showing more ads.

refund issues. did not work maybe my hardware issues. they charged me twice. request refund within minutes of using app. they have not given me back charges for one of the double charges. Later they refunded one of the double charges. One they are refusing to refund Claiming they do not do refunds on monthly subscription. This is totally unfair for an app that Did not work at all. Just understand if you download this and sign up for their subscription and it doesn't work at all You're stuck

On the positive...it works and works well. On the downside...it's sooo expensive I'm not sure who would pay to use it more than once unless you work as a mechanic.

Great for simple cosmetic changes, but no longer works to disable the auto start-stop feature on my C8 S6 or SQ8- my primary reason for subscribing. No control for Matrix LED headlights, either. Great if you want to disable little things like your seat belt chime, or tach sweep on startup, but no longer very useful for VAG vehicles. edit: have contacted support, confirmed the feature no longer works.

Don't bother with an ELM OBDII adapter, does nothing but ask for subscription. To clarify, all I've got from the app was option to pay to see basic results and a warning my probe is not good. Many free tools give you much more.

It got soo much worse recently that it's really frustrating to use 70% of time. I've been using it for last few years on all of my cars due to simple and intuitive interface. Tool is great for beginners and easy to use. But recently it's slow, laggy and crashes frequently. Require internet at all times. Now if stuck somewhere with no network it's basically useless. Can't even read the codes which is it's the main use. I'll wait till end of subscription and move on to alternative.

I can only give it 1 star they lied and said they support Hyundai cars, I paid for the yearly subscription only to be told I needed to buy the carista evo and it would clear codes and not customize my car. Best to avoid.

Good, but not great! Misleading marketing! Poor support for 2020+ VAG cars. 5* for the Carista EVO device + case. Nice! 5* for intuitive and easy to use app. 1* for support and 0* for how it's being advertised!

The Amazon website told me only the white scanner works on my car and iPhone. The white scanner works on my car but cannot be seen on my iPhone 14 via bluetooth. Fortunately I can see it on my Samsung A15, so finally got it to work. Advertising is annoying. I also thought I wouldn't have to pay for accessing the full service, but in the end it was discounted for the first year. The whole app experience is confusing and poorly designed until you get used to it. However, it worked in the end.

Seems to be a good app Had a full rundown of engine faults with full explanation. Then cleared them all. Shows faults without subscription, but need subscription for details info and to be able to clear them.

Grossly over sold. Advertised features for my vehicle were not available when I hooked it to my truck. In fact there were virtually no features I could change and this was with a subscription. What features it did show I could change from the center display.

The app is easy to use, but you have to buy a subscription to make any changes. I purchased a 1 month subscription but the one thing I wanted to change gave me an error message and asked me to submit a ticket to support. I will probably return this item.

I bought this app for my Jeep and it worked perfectly showing me codes and being able to clear them and they even being able to view live data as the engine was running and then all of the sudden the app stops supporting my vehicle and I cannot use it for anything. it is now a complete waste of money and I wish I never would have bought anything from this company and I urge you to not support this company as they can randomly just stop supporting your vehicle. Good until it wasn't. the newest update completely stopped my scanner from working. I've used it for years now and it won't even connect to my phone anymore.

Paid for a months useage. Used the app to rewind the handbrake in order to replace pads and disks on my Alhambra. worked perfectly! Planning on using it to prime the fuel pump when I change the fuel filter next week...

APP AGAIN IS UNSTABLE!! NOW IT DOESNT RECOGNIZE MY ACCOUNT LOG IN!!! Editing review: I have reset the Carista OBD2 module by pulling it out and putting it back in. It appears to be workiing fine now. I have requested some time ago that you make the font for the TPMS reading a little bigger. The screeen has plenty of room on it but the vital numbers, the actual Tire Pressure are so small I need to take the phone out of it's cradle to read it. Every other useless font is big enough to read.

i pay so i can read data real quick . but guess what i got the obd mx + should work it works amazing with other apps and but some how with this one the connection is very unstable it connects and stop working it did work for the data that i needed but for the price should connects good with the obds .

They say it is not a scam to hook recurring charges, but they don't respond to email asking about cancellation, and will charge you month after month without having any easy way to cancel those charges. There is no Cancel Subscription button, which there could be, if they listened to customers.

Great app. I don't mind paying but can understand why this is a monthly cost. I only need this app to update some settings so going to cancel right after I make the changes.

Found it Interesting at the begining but find it limited compared with other subscription based apps. Recently the app stopped working on my phones(Google pixel 7 and 9) therefore unusable anymore.

Scam Bait. Carista said if I paid for a month I can use my current Bluetooth obd device. I subscribed and they still wanted me to buy their carista specific device. I recommend staying away from this kind of payment scheme. Also I can't get my money back for this month too which is frustrating.

I bought the Carista OBD2 adapter and a subscription about 2 years ago. I unlocked some features on my Toyota and canceled the subscription. Now that I have a different car, I checked for compatibility and it said I could unlock features. Only after paying $15 did it bother to tell me I need the upgraded adapter. I spent the money, but to do anything they need more. Feels like bait and switch at this point.

Beware, this is a scam. if you purchase a 1 month subscription, it enrolls you in a MONTHLY subscription. This is not stated anywhere. The device was missing features they advertised, so if you think you're paying for a one month trial, you're not. Check your Google Play account.

The subscription is priced way too high for what the app is. $15 per month is just too much.

garbage app, requires a subscription to anything with your car, can't even do a simple battery registration without a pro subscription

When the first thing upon opening an app that you would like to test out is a forced login; run away! nope; not happenning. In this day and age you would think that by now developers would understand that that kind of business model will destroy their growth potential, just foolish and a shame of the disconnect.

i just tested on a car (active subscription) in Iran, did not work even with carista evo hardware. also website was not accessible. so i use competitions now

Excellent and easy to use app for diagnostics, much more than basic OBD2. Nice interface, quick response, can unlock a lot of hidden festures, whuch you cannot via car built in menus. BUT you cannot perform maintenance tasks, like bleed brakes, reset service intervals, test systems, like ABS, vipers etc, which you can do with ThinkDiag or Carly for example. If you ask me, Carista has most user friendly interface, ThinkDiag has all features almost all mechanic needs, but interface is confusing.
