EDIT: now I am unable to connect my Pro 5 cameras to my warranty replacement VMB4540 Base station. I spent 6 hours the yesterday trying to get them to connect. I have reset everything multiple times. There is an issue with your firmware not allowing it to connect pro 5 (& pro 3) cameras to the base station. (ORIGINAL POST) Connection to cameras can be buggy. Sometimes I am unable to connect to cameras even though they are running on the high speed network through the base station

the user interface of the app is completely broken. counter-intuitive features in the automations. you can't disable the camera during certain hours for privacy. you can only enable features. minimum of 1 feature but not disable! you cant even disable the camera for a particular mode. they only have privacy mode which keeps the camera pointing down until someone clicks the view button. then your privacy is gone. they need to completely redo the app. returning the cameras immediately.

Using verisure feel safer, can see activities at property well pleased.

The system works well as long as you have a monthly plan. I purchased the smart hub so I could use the system without a monthly subscription. As soon as the free trial was over the cameras stopped picking up motion and activating. The amount of videos recorded while the system was armed went from 70 or more to less than 10 in the same time frame. Very disappointing since it is advertised that it will work the same as using the online storage. Look around for a better security option!

started out good originally but now it uses 6 times the data and not better, light adjustments used to be very sensitive but not anymore. Battery will be worn out pretty soon won't be buying another camera.

This app does not pick up or alert you like its supposed to. Purchase since the beginning and services were really good but now it's a waste of money.

Stopped working after the update. I still get all notifications, but they are no longer recorded. Zones also disappeared so I now get 5x the number of notifications.

Down to 1 star. All my Pro3 Wire-Free stopped triggering alarms when something is moving in front of them. New custom mode not working at all. My advice: don't buy anything Arlo.

connection n video quality are terrible. app is slow clunky and absolutely unreliable. there's always another update that makes it worse. over 75 notifications today for nothing! hours wasted pouring over troubleshooting steps. service costs have tripled in the short time I've been using this camera. contact with Arlo ends in frustration without resolution. my opinion is just best to avoid this company. Camera is now in the trash where it belongs!

10/16/26 release - ver 7.4.0 (7040001) seems to have resolved most of my issues except being able to swipe between recorded videos in local storage and sorting by device and/or date. Please don't mess with it anymore unless you're going to fix that, but I can live without it if it means keeping it's present stability.

It doesn't much matter if the camera is any good when the app regularly refuses to connect to it. It's legitimately surprising that a tech(ish) company can have software this horrible.

forever not working

Trash app. Sometimes it takes a full minute to connect to cameras, sometimes won't connect at all, and frequently says all cameras are offline until I restart the app. The geofencing has NEVER worked properly no matter what I do with permissions, and Arlo shares location data anyway according to their "privacy" policy and trying to find how to opt out has me going in circles. Am I opted in or out? There's no way to tell. Good hardware, very unreliable and buggy app, and dodgy privacy policy.

I purchased one of these camera for this arlo,( 2nd comment) , download app once i was there never sent email ,nothing so I am going to take camera back uninstall and go on. I was trying to opt out most if u do they opt u back in this was senators saying this on TV so I read the privacy policies but all these companies sell share use your info for money. they want money but your information is payment for them and you get breached too 🙄bad. the sloppiest on earth. Nit recommended.NR

Excellent quality of security devices

Doesn't really pick up footage like it should. I never see Amazon deliveries in the act. it's like they show up out of thin air. I've missed some real important footage that I really needed solid proof of.

It would be nice to be able to record 4k while live streaming like before, now you can only do it if you lower your resolution which is absurd. I would like to see better video quality and longer recordings or a better option for 24hr recording than those expensive plans and solar panels, we miss a lot of video footage because of it and almost makes it worthless. I have 4K cameras recording in 2K, please explain..? There are a lot of better optiond out there like Eufy and cheaper at home depot.

Sometimes offline for no reason and the control settings are not very intuitive. When I need to see immediate footage, I'm left fumbling. The window break setting in audio continually sets off while it's raining. A few other quirks that are annoying.

I cannot use motion detection without subscribing which I was not aware of. On box advertising was a bit misleading. I will be returning and getting different cameras that do not require subscription. mine must be broken 😞

app would not let me set up account, kept getting error messages

I have attempted to cancel my subscription and then delete my account several times and I am unable to cancel my subscription. I can't seem to get the help in the chat, because we keep getting disconnected. I'm over it.

App is ok but subscription is too expensive and keeps being jacked up. If you're a longterm subscriber you shouldn't have to pay more for new features. New features are what should justify charging the same rate and keeping your customers.

10-28-2026 I am very happy with Arlo customer service. I found out my 10 cameras are at end of life and no longer supported. I've had a subscription all these years, and I was going to cancel. My cameras are all still working after 12 years. So I ask if I could get a discount on my subscription. They gave me a 50% discount on my annual subscription and offered me discounts on new cameras. My cameras are still working, so I'll take the 50% discount and decide about new camera next year.

Was forcefully 'upgraded' overnight from the old app. which worked brilliantly for me for many years, ever since Arlo launched. The new app has totally destroyed my system and my cameras, lights, alarms are now completely useless. Nothing is working, equipment has disappeared from the app, lost all previous recordings and not now recording at all, despite my full subscription. Take this upgrade at your peril. Switch off all auto updates in Google. My entire system has been junked. Nothing works

Half the time the app won't connect to the camera. Arlo removed features after purchase too. It no longer saves automatic recordings without a subscription. When we bought this system, it would save a week of recordings. Go with any other company. The only thing unique about Arlo is how bad the connectivity is.

I thought i read that the video sensor would record and save but only for less than a day without a subscription. That is not true. The camera is live feed only. It still works as a video doorbell and I guess I'll be able to see a package sitting on my porch with the live feed. So an average rating.

The app keeps closing on me before it even opens up? This has been happening for 4 straight days!!!

I got this because of the reasonable yearly fee and the crisp quality of the video, but typical bait and switch the fee went from $30 year to well over $100 in a year. Find something else.

problems with pan and scan cam reconecting to network when lose of network. Have to loterally reset the device and delete from acc and then have to re-do the connection.... and the pan and scan feature could be better more responsive!!!!!

Aggravating. Every time the battery gets low the cameras need to be removed and reinstalled. Taking multiple attempts to find the same cameras that have been in the app. Neither the cameras or the app are worth the aggravation.

The doorbell rings my app, but I can't answer it. The notification sound goes for 30 to 40 seconds, but it never shows up anywhere on my phone. And while it's ringing, I can do nothing to stop it. Volume doesn't work, power doesn't work, nothing. It just rings and rings and rings with no way to answer. Quite irritating.

I had pro 2 cameras and 3500 base station that worked great for many years. Recently purchased vmb5000 base with essential cameras. Base station keeps going off line, cameras are also off line. very disappointed. looking for alternative systems

I do maintenance for a company that owns dozens of buildings. These are the best of the 3 different systems we are currently using for several reasons and will be the only one we use going forward.

Arlo sucks

playback clips start after the event trigger... I don't want to se someone walking away from my front door I want to see before and during their arrival while they are present and until they are gone. Needs a running 15sec (or adjustable) buffer so after trigger it can record from before event.

love the videos and the easy way to set them up.

signal drops and modem sees the cameras but the cameras don't respond. it flip flops between wired cameras and wireless. one day the wireless ain't working and one day the wired won't work

Bad Bad

I have had so many issues since these were installed with hardware connectivity and the app itself too. Even when it is working, the functionality isn't great, and the recording only starts once there has been movement for more than a second, so can miss a lot. And now the new update has not only broken the recording functionality, but also completely wiped all previous recordings. Plus support is only weekdays during standard work hours. Should've just stuck with my Amazon Ring / Blink set up.

I paid $300 per camera and they still want me to pay a monthly subscription fee. What a joke.

The app has one of the worst UI/UX I have ever had the displeasure of using. Nothing makes sense, everything has a different term than you'd expect, and no feature is all in one place. For example, to enable or configure notifications, you need to go to a grand total of 11 different screens. Not for each camera, but as a base amount of interaction. And half the time nothing works and you have to spend 3+ hours with support for them to tell you "nothing we can do, sorry, lol get rekt loser"

The pop up ads in the app are causing the base and cameras to crash. Also, the Arlo support chat in the app is great, except if you leave the app to look at another app or do anything besides the arlo chat for a few seconds, the support chat ends, and you have to start the support chat process all over again.

cameras delay alerts from 10 sec to 4 min. app and cameras do not sync to features it advertises. customer service 100% blows. they don't keep notes, so every issue you have to start from step 1. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!!

slow! UPDATE 20261024: Just had my mailman ring my Arlo doorbell camera - forced me to log back in twice, and thankfully he knew me well enough to get my neighbor to sign for my letter. Horrible platform and incredibly slow response times! I'd switch companies if I didn't have so much invested in their hardware. Don't make the same mistake I did - stay away from this company.

Zone selected and you STILL DO WHAT YOU WANT 10/26 . STOP RESETTING MY SETTINGS 8/26 between cameras being unresponsive, dropping the connection and default mode resetting itself all of the time, i honestly dont know how Arlo can pretend to be a good security system. 3/25 a murder and crime scene cleanup could be done before Arlo decides to connect. a HORRIBLE company. Update: 3/22 notification of movement but the app doesn't show the recording right away. This should not be used for security.

It's an OK app, nothing to brag about. update: ads.. so much ads it is pretty much an annoyance. the number of times it loses connection increased and battery life is a lot lower. it is sad that since i jumpped into the arlo club, the product has been going down hill. guess my next upgrade will not be arlo.

Absolute rubbish! Purchased renewal of plan through the app only to be told they could see the transaction and was rold by them "you watsed your money". Their exact words! contacted them and google play for refund but never got my money back. would NEVER buy anything from them!!!

Functions may not work when your traveling in a moving vehicle, setup and settings can be tricky, manual not included.

I wish I could add more cameras without paying extra. I have the cameras I just can't add them.

Sometimes connection is a little spotty at times, and I wish there was a way to record video and turn my phone screen off. But otherwise very happy with the features provided.

Arlo Secure. Now (after ui update) mode can not show routine mode rules list at all. Shows error message and list is empty. Thats true for away and home. Standbuy probably does not have many rules so it shows them. I have a lot of cameras and sensors and a lot of rules .

Cant wait to change to someone else. Can never connect to the cameras. Alerts when nothing is there but doesn't pick up when needed. Can't read number plates. AND EVERYTHING IS EXTRA $$$$$. LIKE ITS NOT ENOUGH TO SPEND 500$ ON A CAMERA. Unless you get a monthly expensive subscription its useless, and even with the subscription its useless DONT WASTE YOUR TIME

From a tablet with Android 12 the app is slow and certain features aren't working at all: connection signal test and automations. While in the Beta program motion detection stopped working and I am not able to activate it anymore. I can't disconnect and connect the camera back to the app to try troubleshoot the motion detection because it is bonded under our Verisure contract. The siren isn't working.

First: Their troubleshooting steps never help! Several cams show "offline" & I can't view feeds for long periods, usually until I force stop app & clear cache. It cuts recordings short pretty often despite the 2 minute fixed recording setting. Restarting or removing/adding does not change behavior. Now some won't show a motion event until hours later when another event happens, puts wrong timestamp & never shows new event. Firmware is updated. I'm about done living with these quirks!! Fix it!

Latest version is Broken.. Can't set standby to disable now.. Makes you pick an action.. "operation failed" when trying to turn of animation

I purchased 2 Arlo Essential XL spotlight indoor/outdoor security cameras with a Wasserstein solar panel & an Arlo hub in 2022. My cameras works just fine going through walls 75 feet away outside. It was very easy to set up &straightforward instructions. This app gave me no problems except the Local storage has never worked. It will not let you view your videos from the app & tech support is aware of this problem but has never fixed it, so I have been paying $20 @ month for the cloud for years.

These cameras are just ok. They don't pickup nearly enough activity and are slow to respond when connecting to live feeds. I wish I hadn't bought them. I recommend buying Ring cameras. My one ring camera works very very well.

This is better than a camera that I paid more for.

since last few updates camera fail to activate. camera's were more sensitive triggering, the amounts of traffic going by has definitely not gone down. your AI-slopbot, ignored the problem and told me where to find setup information... since I stated after an update, that should be something to show everything is already installed. you need someone with actual customer service and support to code the system. I do side coding jobs, and I have run multiple world class rate support centers

the latest version per the customers operating steps and setup of the cameras are not as friendly to use in day to day operations as they used to be. Changes should be improvements not ones that make it harder to use and understand.

This service is not good do Not be stupid like me and spend over 700 on equiptment that only works good with costly subscription. the feed keeps cutting out if you are not subscribed to thier costly plans, that they keep raising the price on after years in. I now know now that getting a camera system that dosent rely on subscription is the way to go.

begging you to just go with any brand EXCEPT for arlo Update because of response: I have tried the support function many times, they simply recommended power cycling it and then completely re-setting and re-adding each camera. It'll work for about a day and then go back to completely freezing and not loading any video feeds. They also accuse network speeds despite being on fiber and completely in range of the home base.

The app says my cameras are offline, but I can watch the steam of any camera. This is a bug. I can't change any settings.

I absolutely love these camera's. they are the easiest set up and follows the person, animal or vehicles. hands down would give them 100 stars if I could.

This is a warning to anyone considering Arlo. They have become the worst camera system you can buy. Thankfully I'm moving away from the product. it works 10% of the time if that. It's so bad I'm putting it directly in the garbage. I couldn't in good conscience resell this broken product to.someone.else. Live feeds don't work when you need it. Battery life is great because it never detects anything. I guess it saves Arlo money on cloud storage when it never records.

Don't know what was done to the app but arming the camera while away and putting it in standby mode while home just doesnt work. constant notifications about movement while home even in standby while attempting to use geo fencing automation. Maybe if arlo stopped breaking what wasn't broken and complicating their app even more than it already is it might be useful. However, odds are im going to have to go with a camera that can actually turn on and off the motion notifications properly.

Does not work correctly without buying a plan. Will not be conned into buying.

Dropping this down to 3 stars. The App doesn't refresh after changes are made to the device settings. Also, the feed doesn't refresh automatically when new videos are recorded. Cameras will show as offline but will allow the live fees to play. The only way to fix any of this is to continuously exit the app completely and reopen. That shouldn't be necessary. This has been going on for a while now without being fixed.

l am not able to use my door bell. feeling frustrated because it works only when sorted by the engineers and off again never fully enjoyed the service! Just waiting for my contract to end.

great cameras but (Essentials new gen) ... when expand camera live view from dashboard, app stays in landscape and does not return to portrait. also please allow option to turn off notifications, have to manually do that every day.

Lots of issues since the last app update. I have 4 connected Arlo devices and 2 more not yet installed. I may just trash them all and replace them with another provider's equipment. One month later and still not working right if they can't get their act together, I will replace Arlo with another brand.
