One of the best, minimal and fast Matrix clients available.

so, youve heard about the matrix protocol. and youve registered at matrix org (obviously). youve downloaded the recommended app... and you see no green online dot, something you expect from any messenger. is the app bugged? uh, not particularly. it seems the home of the matrix protocol... have disabled the presence feature. they designed it in a way it "creates performance issues" if enabled. uh. if you need a green dot - ditch matrix. other than that, it sends messages, as expected.

Beautiful, simple and it just works.

Unusable. It takes minutes to open.

Seems like a good app overall but it ignores the 'remove animations' system accessibility setting for some reason and doesn't let you change it, which is a major downside for me (the overscroll animation makes me motion sick). I hope they fix it in the future and add some more customizability in general, the settings menu is a bit barebones. Also for some reason it stopped starting up at all (infinite loading screen) so I'd have to reinstall it probably.

Excellent matrix client, hopefully it is coming to feature parody with Element soon. The only real draw back is that you cannot disable encryption for new rooms/groups. For my usage that has be swapping between fluffy chat & matrix. if there is some developer setting I can use to re-enable that option I would be more then happy to dig for it.

The new version feels nice except there's no way to make the unverified devices warning less prominent or hide it in an encrypted chat. Surely not everyone's risk surface is such that the warning needs to be front and centre at all times.

I like the Material You design of this app and the ability to upload your own stickers. I'm still figuring out the rest.

This application is full of bugs. My keyboard gets stuck and won't pop up sometimes, trying to reposition my cursor while typing will most often result in selecting text instead of moving the cursor, and more.

Great Matrix Frontend but I dislike that messages are shrinked to the width of the media. If you have a tall but narrow image the text is almost not readable. Multi-line text should have a minimum width regardless off attached media or not.

Multi-account support. Notifications arrive on time when app is given "set timers and reminders" permission. Sometimes, notifications are lacking info about sender and content - unsure why. Not a common thing though.

i choose dont compress the uploading video but the compressing video msg still showing up. after a while ....return error . i wonder whats in matrix developer mind ? use an android phone with poor arm cpu power to compress a video ?? in fact the video itself is aleady compressed. if compress means convert the video to other format. probably most android device will start crying and say : i am not intel or amd .let them do the """compression""" please !

I had install element X and registered, but the company recommended that fluffy is quicker than element x Thus I removed element X and installed fluffy! but there's no option to reset password! I forgot my thus I need to reset password please assist me in this regard! I need to register my fluffy ( work related)

when I type my chat group name fluffychat doesn't appear below public room as it should. l have tried more than ten times, so I'm stuck.😭😭😭

Compression actually increases the size when sending videos, and it always ticked on by default, I hate it. make it so it remembers that I unticked it for videos because your video compression algo SUCKS it makes video files BIGGER not smaller. How do you create a compression algorithm that produces file that's triple the size than they were initially, it's amazing actually. Otherwise it's a good app just remove the stupid "enlarge the filesize" option that's falsely marked as "compression"

The app is extremely buggy and on each update, instead of fixing said bugs, they only add half-baked features, bringing more bugs, the developer handles the reported issues poorly, by closing them as "stale" after ignoring them or marking them as can't reproduce because they test them on the iphone version on top of that add matrix's jank as a protocol but for this we can't blame the app developer

the app itself feels polished, messages work well, but the calling feature, which works on Element, doesn't work here, that's pretty much the only issue i have with this.

It's functional but it could do with more features if possible like the desktop version.

Now requires an "identity provider" (link to Google/GitHub/Etc).

Unfortunately calls don't work on this. I liked the interface and layout better, but calls just bug out right away.

Nice client that uses your material you theme. In my opinion the best looking client but the least functional one unfortunately. I don't like the facebook ahh text bubbles. You also cannot see who read what messages only the most recent one. I also can't seem to find the option to import keys on this client.

Would be nice but very unstable. In crashes if adding a ehile, pictued, recording sound or anything adding to the chat. Too bad.

Best matrix app i have used, fast startup and good organization.

1. Allow option in settings to automatically Accept all message requests. It should be optional in FluffyChat Matrix Client . Freedom to choose 2. Please add option to set a welcome message auto reply which is automatically sent when someone messages you immediately even BEFORE accepting chat request, for example, "Thank u for contacting me. I will reply as from 9.01 eastern standard time"

Works well enough for a Matrix client but has some weird quirks and bugs. It is difficult to get to the last read message for example, and fails most of the time. Or the fact that opening a chat doesnt automatically mark it as read.

Definitely the prettiest client, but way too slow and startup takes ages (Likely something to do with E2E). Animation is very choppy. I doubt it is a hardware issue as other Jetpack Compose Material 3 apps work well. Having this as an avtive device also caused some issues with the online backup, but after removing FluffyChat the subsequent messages were backed up just fine. TLDR - UI is great, but bad performance and very buggy. Would wait for a major rewrite.

Can't get notifications to work (not even with ntfy) and I can't export my key for encrypted conversations, so that's locking me into an app I don't even like...

Right To Left formatting for complex language scripts, such as Persian and Arabic language is not fully supported and needs to be done. Element messenger itself has this problem too, but schildichat doesn't have this problem and RTL formatting is fully supported for Persian and Arabic languages. There is another problem that scrolling messages while listening to voice interrupts voice playing and stop it which is so annoying. For UX I suggest to shift menu button to the left side of search bar.

Much better than Element as others have noted. Old messages load up almost instantaneously, while in Element they are often stuck for days. The only missing features for me are: displaying non ASCII characters, profile pictures tend to be fuzzier than in Element, and link previews

By no means a bad app but inferior to element imo, both in terms of visual style and things like reacts. Definitely want to keep an eye on this though as it's promising 🙂

Love that this app is open source, and it's nice to see a "material you" matrix client. Could do with some minor improvements, but generally really good!

Excellent look and feel, ease of use, and responsiveness. Lacks some polish, e.g. (1) not marking group conversations as unread when messages arrive that don't tag you, (2) no separate Spaces view that only shows rooms you're currently in, (3) not respecting Android back button properly in some contexts, (4) not using Android context menu for text fields (instead uses its own one, which interferes with accessibility and extensions), (5) other minor bugs. Otherwise ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.

Doesn't support polls or threads. Bold text increases the message size and it looks really off-putting.

This is good. Probably the best of Matrix apps. But it needs finished features instead of feature placeholders. Matrix needs to fix whatever issue they're having with link previews as this seems to plague all Matrix messengers, even the good ones like this.

Text Input has massive issues which prevents autocorrect from working properly. Right now this makes the app borderline unusable.

I love this App so far: + It is easy and simple to use at the core. (Which not everyone might like but is important to get more people on board). + It supports stickers which also can be used as emoticons. + Multi account support, although still in Beta, works good. - Now also supports drafts 🙌

Seems nice but doesn't support over 60Hz displays, so stutters badly on 90hz (one plus 7 pro) - - > gotta stick to element for now.

Can't answer anymore to any call either audio or video call. Using private synapse server. It worked just fine with 1.5.0. Please fix this huge issue. Thank you!

Can not answer to any call since 1.6.2. The screen with green and red butons appears for few hundred of miliseconds and dissapear. Can not answer anymore.to any call. Tested on 3 phones. Please fix!

Usable and cute. I really like this one, the interface is more intuitive and smoother with the animations than the other clients. Needs work with optimization though. Background sync is nonexistent, the app takes a lot of time to load. Notifications for android are also almost nonexistent. But it supports spaces just like element! And that's beautiful if someone is looking for an element alternative!

Get invites to chats you can't even delete; you get stupid errors like no permission. How about I just delete your stupid app instead? Constant nags about needing my security key. Can't even copy the public key so I can simply paste it into a better app. Just the lack of such basic functionality makes this app feel like it was dredged from the stone ages.

Such a great matrix client, looks and feels amazing. It feels more streamlined and simple compared to element, and I LOVE being able to add custom emotes 11/10.

It's better than element, only downside that prevent me from using it is voice getting stop after you scroll in chat(or exit the chat). Waiting for fix, Thanks.

I am trying, I really am, to sign up to matrix but no matter all the captchas, the verification emails and agreeing to the terms my account doesn't exist and requires me unspecified "additional verification". Even on a different homeserver, using SAML, I with an account actually ready and connected in my browser the app just won't log in. I got frustrated and left the app. Really a bad hit to my already bad day.

By so far this is the most native chat experience with Matrix app, clean and nice. However, inability to upload multiple photos from the gallery is the dealbreaker for me. Also would be nice to be able to swap between photos. Also would be nice to cache photos to avoid constant reloading from the web.

Can't login. Clicking "sign in with one click" buttons does nothing. Trying to reset password results in "Invalid client_secret parameter" error. I set up credentials on another phone, but they're not accepted here. Username invalid? Nope. Password invalid? Nope. Won't login anyway.

Very rough around the edges, but the ux is much better than the "official" matrix client, element, although, even after the 1.0 update, there are many things which are either in weird places or completely inaccessible. Also the logging out issue has been fixed pls stop posting about it lol.

Probably the best Matrix client on mobile. I use nheko reborn on desktop, but this is great!

Great, when it works. Which is not often. It will log you out for no reason, and cannot handle an edge case where your matrix address and home server URL differ.

Logged me out of a session without precedent. I'm still logged into Element, which has a host of problems. Trying to log in with password which I set, doesn't work. Changed password, still doesn't work.

Much nicer than Element except for the fact that push notifications do not work. Seems to be a known issue with no available fix. Unfortunately this is a dealbreaker for me.

great ui, everything looks nice, and i like having the luxury of using custom emojis. however, whenever i type something out, it underlines the word im typing, and if i dont press space after it, the word autotypes out on my next message. i tried messing with my keyboard settings, but to no avail. this is the only app this occurs on, so i think it may be a bug. i am using an LG G8X ThinQ.

I liked the older UI, can you please implement a toggle to switch between the UIs , and a feature to embed links will also be appreciated, overall the UI and design theme of this client is nice (the Main reason I use it) compared to element

Better that Element. Element is super slow and chunky.

2/5/21 Updated-Now much less cluttered. Still one gripe. Read Receipt does not show as the message is read. Have to go out and back in to refresh. Should be corrected on the double.

This all is a really nice Matrix Client. There are still a few usability things that I think would make this app a 5 star (gif keyboard support and some of the slash controls) but it is a really nice client. The voice recording works well too!

Much better than element, and ditto, however one thing I'm seriously missing in all clients though is the preview feature when a link or attachment is posted. Element doesn't have the ability to edit permissions, this does If you post a link it will read the meta and show you an image or for a YouTube link it'll show you the thumbnail. Seems like only element has this feature. Another very useful thing would be for a progress bar with a percentage when uploading or downloading files.

Really nice just wish you could change the color form purple to any color as a setting also at least for me the send image and file buttons do nothing?!

Best matrix client right now. Group chats and encryption work well.

User-Interface appearance good. Can connect with custom matrix-"homeserver". BUT massed up VPN connection settings : though it can connect via VPN dialog/connector in Android, but it uses such network activities that VPN dialog/connector disconnects, then it connects to internet w/o VPN, and all APPs which suppose to go thru VPN, begins to connect to internet servers directly w/o VPN . it does-not hapn Before. We gave 1-Star review rate for such violation of Privacy, Privacy-Rights,etc activity.
