terrible platform

Pretty useless, won't let me use any feature unless I setup autopay. Unfortunately it has a habit of billing more than it's supposed to and cleans out my bank account.

Update: Double notifications persist. The application works well for parents overall. It is nice to be able to follow my son's activities during a school day. Unfortunately, the latest update has the application sending double notifications each time a teacher posts something.

Smartcare charges a convenience fee for automatic payments withdrawn directly from my checking account. This is the only company I've ever seen do that. This means the amount withdrawn from my account is higher than what is shown on the invoice. Seems shady to me.

If you get to payment options there is no way to go back, you stuck on the screen and Android options to go back or home screen are disabled as well. This is arguably one of the most idiotic design decisions I ever witnessed.

works okay but every time you try to switch cards or if it just use trying to make changes to your payment the keyboard always seems to lock into place and then you have to restart the app to go through with payment

It's convenient, but you pay for the convenience with the extra fee they tax onto the original price. And don't forget about hitting the "pay now" button only once because sometimes it'll take a little bit for the screen to refresh and if you don't have the patience it will take out a second payment.

Would really like it if it were easier to view what has been paid and charged. Feel like if these 2 things, including any other charges, looked like a banks transaction history, it would be considerably easier to see what has been paid and you wouldn't have to go back and forth to hope you can ensure you haven't overpaid. There is definitely some room for improvement.

The staff here truly had heart. they are very attentive to specific requests we have for our daughter. Our daughter is growing and thriving, thanks to the nurture and care of their staff.

I un-installed, reinstalled, reset passwords, and everything I could think of. Still doesn't work.

The app sends 2 notifications every time. I can't delete all the notifications from my home screen. I have to delete them 1 by 1 and on most days it is at least 10 notifications because it is duplicating them.

Effective for its purpose, but I always get double notifications when signing out and quadruple notifications when signing in. It's pretty annoying.

Please make the notifications group together so they don't fill up my notifications area.

The download and share buttons under Media no longer work. Very annoying. Additionally, notifications should have more options such as being able to select check-in and check-out only, etc... Most other apps do this already. But not being able to download or share the Media is the biggest problem.

While reading through some other reviews, I also have the same problem with pictures initially coming up just black. A section for parents to add notes themselves would be great, child's items that were taken (diapers, wipes, clothes, etc), a place to make notes of issues that were talked about with the daycare, etc.

The notifications don't group as any other app I have. Other than that, app is ok.

I have the latest version installed 3.4.0, but there are no push notifications or even in-app notifications of chat messages. You have to manually go to the chat section which is mostly useless.

The latest fix has fixed notifications. Overall good app, speedy when needed for check in and out.

I'm REALLY disappointed in this app. After the app was updated, I never received any of the updates on my phone like I used to. Is there a FIX for this?

Push notifications are not appearing on my phone, even though all the settings should allow this. I have to actually open the app to see the notifications, which means I sometimes miss very important time-sensitive messages from my child's preschool. When I first got the app, I didn't even know push notifications were possible because there were none. Then they were randomly activated and were appearing for a while. They randomly disappeared again. I uninstalled, reinstalled, still not working.

Notifications are not working in the latest update. Can someone from the app team please look into this?

The functionality is generally good, but the app overall is rather slow. More troubling is that every single update breaks notifications. Occasionally they issue "fix" updates, which may not actually address the problem. I had frozen updates when notifications were actually working, but allowed them again to get the recent major update; they do not work now. This is true for both Android phones on which it is installed. I would recommend and rate this much higher if notifications were reliable.

App has suddenly stopped working. Says unexpected error on login. Reinstall did not help.

There is no link to create an account! Therefore you can not login with the proper creditials!

Not a good app. They stopped sending me notifications. I even have the app set up to receive notifications based on the apps notifications settings. I also have my phone set up to receive them as well. I have even logged out and reinstalled it. I have reached out to my daycare and they reached out to Smartcare app and they keep saying the same thing to check the settings. Which I have multiple times. They need to fix the bugs in there app. I rely on this app for updates about my daughter day.

App previously sent push notifications for check in and check out which was great. Now I get emails which are annoying. Please revert to push notifications. Same goes for daily reports. Or better yet, make it an option or preference setting in the app which the user would prefer.

Always an issue if I need to update the card info. Now the issue is the expiration date..again... the app will not all you to enter the full expiration date. It is only allowing the year so.of course.. card won't save due to the error

Android version is hit or miss, can be twitchy and unresponsive about 50% of the time.

Why does my app not show settings at the bottom & I cannot switch centers

Signed up through web browser. Downloaded the app and cannot log in on the app. It just spins and goes back to the log in screen.

This app made it very easy for me to track my child's account so that I never owed his school.

The green "make a donation" button is confusing. I would expect such a huge button in the middle of the screen to be for example "confirm the payment" especially because i go to billing section specifically to pay my bill. And meanwhile "pay now" button is tiny and hiding. That is misleading. Please make it proper.

Stopped using app 10+ months after my daughter left the school. Started using it again when my youngest was enrolled and was impressed it still had the timeline history from before. Love the ability to set frequency and which notifications I want. Only con- default card payment is automatic, have to remember to change payment type when it changes and the only way to do it is through settings.

Ridiculous app. Many needed functions dont work amd support is least interested in solving those. Listing a few major ones below. 1. Crashes on launch of chat so can't send messages to daycare through the app. 2. Cant sign in child with the drop off information 3. Meal/Activity calender glitches making impossible to read

Wow this app must really be terrible. The reviews sound as if the developer really doesn't care for his product. All I've done so far is download the app. Immediately after opening it, it tells me to sign in but I cannot create an account, I came to the reviews and that explained a lot.

Needs work. Lots of bugs.

Immediately upon opening it, I was asked whether I wanted to allow the app to take pictures and video. I said no, which apparently is the wrong answer. The app refused to accept no, and just kept popping up the same message. I have no idea what else the app might do well, but that was a terrible enough experience to warrant one star.

I enjoyed the SmartCare for Parents app until his school started using Preschool2Me earlier this month. I am no longer getting the text notifications that my child has been signed in/out of school and I cannot view the updates from days prior to today via the app. When I try to view Today's Updates for "all", I get a message that I need to enable the updates above. Each time I try to enable it, I get a "connection error" and can't do it. When I go to the Today's Updates for my child (where they are named specifically), I sometimes see a message that no updates have been sent by the teacher, but other time see a message that I need to enable the updates. I have uninstalled the app, restarted my phone, reinstalled the app, and it still didn't work. I also applied an update to my phone late last week and that didn't help either.

My daughter's school uses this app for parents to sign in and out thier children and to do a covid-19 questionnaire every morning before the children even arrive. This was my first time trying to use it and it won't allow me any options to sign up. It just says email and password. I uninstalled and reinstalled. Still the same thing. Please fix this problem so that I can communicate with my child's teacher and get pictures of her tomorrow is her first day!

Poor user experience overall. Most areas of the app need to be polished up, very inconsistent... sometimes it works and most times doesn't. --- now unable to send messages, when you select "chat" the app crashes.

Today is the 1st day of using this app for my daughter's school. I am not impressed. The billing doesn't show on my app. I checked with the school and everything is right on their end. A pic was sent today of my daughter, I got the email notification but it isn't on the app. The school advised me to uninstall and reinstall, it didn't change anything. Please fix this issue.

I love it! It gives me a way to be connected to my little guys and let's me know where he is at during the day while he is at school. As a new mom, I love being able to know those details.

The sign in/out system is ok but I do not like the billing system. It is difficult to follow and our school has had multiple issues.

Everything I try to log in it doesn't register my email as valid.

Garbage app since last month. "Updates and bug" fixes did the opposite. Straight garbage. And please don't respond with "sounds like an easy fix, contact us"...blah blah.. just fix the thing!!

Crashed when trying to do anything in the app. Downloaded today to use it. It worked once and never worked again. Judging from other reviews, this has been ongoing with no resolution.

App crashes when trying to scan student in/out. Started after latest update. Update: An update sent out by dev team fixed the issue. It is working great again.

Same as other users, crashes when I try to scan the QR code. What the update notes should say is we broke what was already working. Also, no response from the developers to address this terrible update.

UPDATE CAUSING APP TO CRASH

When try and load app it says app has stopped working please try again later. Ive done it several times with no sucess.

How do you even join it?

I can't understand how anybody can make an app this bad. Do the developers even user test this? When you click on an event in your timeline and hit the back button when done viewing, it puts you all the way back to the top of the timeline. This basically makes it impossible to see anything more than a few days old. This is the whole point of this app! When you save pictures, there aren't recognized by your phone and are in some proprietary format. Those are deal-breakers for me.

Entirety too basic for what is promised. There's not an easy way to send the teachers messages and they do not receive comment notifications. The apps just to simplified.

My child has been out of daycare coming up on a year. I emailed app they said daycare had to notify them, I reached out to day care they said they no longer work with the app. I don't understand how my invoices are up almost $3000 when there were no daycare during pandemic and absolutely No daycare would allow someone to owe that much money without closing its doors on you.

Decent app but concerning that a basic function like push notifications doesn't work... **Update** notifications work as expected. App is much better now.

App is buggy. Teachers can't easily modify an entry. Qr codes are buggy. And today the app suddenly decided to stop giving me any feed. I get the Push notifications on my phone but when I click into the app, my time line is supposedly empty (but shouldn't be because the teachers have been recording events for my child all day)

I can't remember my password and when i try to reset it it keep telling me that my password is not found. 😞

I have to delete and reinstall every couple mths cause the app quits notifying me when my kids are checked in or out. Or the qr code wont load to check them out.

You use your email statements to shill your app for bill payment, then AFTER installing your app, and AFTER giving you payment info you sneak in the 3% service fee?! KMA! Reply: We have very different definitions of "clearly displayed." And no, I've wasted enough time with you. After trying to use your app for bill pay I was informed by my wife that the daycare specifically instructed her NOT to use it. I now know why.

This app is consistent with its constant crashing, constant tellin me it is an error, constant not working the way it should... I just uninstalled and reinstalled it again for a better result and I'm left out to dry with the same issue. Find your issues and fix them. Thank you in advanced

Since the last update (June 2020), the app just crashes when I attempt to log in. No error messages - just crashing. I've tried clearing cache and reinstalling to no avail.

2nd Update: After upgrading phones I'm no longer able to access the app. It reads "there was a problem connecting to the server. Please check your internet connection and try again". I've done this several times also restarting, uninstalling the app, switching to 4G, 5G or wifi. I contacted customer service and received nothing. Update: After contacting the company they quickly responded and solved my issue. My app will not update. I have tried uninstalling and restarting but it will not update.

Very handy for checking in and out and receiving updates during the day as needed. I feel there is capacity to make this great for parents by including portals for more information: a place to post the lunch/snack schedule so I don't have to take a picture of it to refer to everyday, or a parking place for our contracts with the center so we can check back if we have questions, notices of Christmas programs/photo days, etc... A fine app for the use, I just feel like it can be so much more. (unless these are features that our center just doesn't subscribe, then please correct me if they are available).

Aw snap an error occurred...every single time i log in. I cant pay my bill and the balance is outdated.

The app keeps saying Aw Snap an unexpected error occured every time I try to select sign in/out and when viewing notifications. I have uninstalled the reinstalled multiple times. FRUSTRATING!!!!

Update 1/20/2020: still not receiving push notifications. I have emailed and just receive the same response... They are working on it, or that is not a feature (separate feed for kids). Also unable to easily chat with teachers. I do not receive push notifications. I put in a request months ago, but it has not been fixed. Additionally, users are unable to separate feed by kid. Lastly, users are unable to easily chat with teachers. Maybe incorporate a calendar that allows you to click on the day.

This app is garbage!! I installed and tried to use but it fails and closes immediately. So I uninstall and reinstall.... Same thing!! Fix this already!! Update as of 1/15/2020... Still does not work right! Keeps saying error and will not allow me to turn on autopay. Very dissapointing app. Everyone who uses it at the Learning lamp ccomplains about it.

I continue to get an error message. I can not check my child in or out. Unable to make payments. Error is "oh snapp something went wrong"..

Crashing constantly

Update: I did e-mail Smartcare and they responded with a fix within minutes. Wonderful customer service! Every time the app updates, or my phone updates the app stops working. The timeline doesn't update, the billing doesn't update and I get no notifications. I have uninstalled and re-installed, still doesn't work. I just get the "aw snap, something's wrong" pop-up at the bottom of the screen.

I've loved this app and found it very convenient for making daycare payments. However, since the update on 12/18/19, my app only gives me an error message and won't allow me to make payments or communicate with my daycare. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, turned my phone off and on, and still error message. I sent a help ticket via email for support as well. The only response I've received is the canned thank you for your message response.

Convenient and easy to use with the school's setup. They have small tablets mounted in 2 hallways and it allows checking in and out using QR code assigned to your account (or PIN). It allows for teachers to share pics with the parents and announcements so they don't need to send to parents' cell numbers and/or emails. We still do email announcements so parents without smartphones can still get info.
