Don't waste ur time if you just have streaming services and want to use this app. Most of all the shows on it stay locked unless u have a cable or satellite provider. I love the history channel but I am only on streaming services now and am very disappointed I can not pay a membership and have this like I do my other services. Extremely Disappointed

I was excited getting this channel as I love history. as I watched Lincoln. after paying 6 bucks. I was bombarded with ads. 5 min of show, ADS, 5 more min, ADS. brutal. I dont know how you keep people

Have to change my review to 1 star from 5 stars, every time I try to watch something I get the same responds, something went wrong, so why should I keep an app I can't watch, but this action will go right, uninstalling.

Way too many ads. There is an ad break every 9 minutes and 2 minutes of that is ads.

To the one that says he grew up with Comercials, that's just ignorant. adds every 7 minutes is insane. it's not like it's one or two adds. it's 7 adds every 7 to 8 minutes. you should be able to skip them.

45 min episodes. 30 Minutes of commercials. not worse than TV but would not expect this from a streaming service.

when trying to login with Xfinity username app takes you back to the provider list page and doesn't log you in. The app continues in this loop and does not advance. Unable to watch content I am paying for due to this. Would not recommend downloading this app. Stay far far away.

I have the History Channel app on my Roku, connected to my DirecTv. It's always the same commercials, over and over and over again.

Ads, ads, ads. Same ones, over and over and over.

episodes are locked because I cannot log into my cable company because the app banner covers the "click if you are not a robot box"

I'm not sure there is any content on the history channel worth sitting through the ads. I get it. You need to pay for stuff. How much stuff?? You are only going to drive the consumer to another platform or lose them altogether. Same ads, over and over. Whoever thought of the interactive add option (TV app) needs to be fired. Not only do I need to sit through 2 or 3 minutes of ads, now you want me to click something. Now you are making us choose how we are to be annoyed beyond belief??

Playstore gives tells What's New dated May 6, 2026. They forgot the part that says What's Not New. That would be that it doesn't work. Absolutely horrible app when installed on Samsung Smart TV. Watch it freeze, never open, refuse to load when it hits commercial time. Now, it does work on Galaxy phone and tab s11, but the cast to TV function, like so many things inherent to the History Channel apps, doesn't work. Ditto to every poster's gripe about endless adverts. Microft designed this? LOL

I believe it very accurate as well as entertaining.

THEY NEED TO UPDATE THEIR STUFF! app is slow and has LONG repetitive ads that are completely irrelevant to me. same ad played twice in ONE set of 7 ADS!... We pay Dish Network over $130/month because that's pretty much all we get out here in country. But for that price, I shouldn't have to watch ANY of your stupid commercials, especially 6 or 7 in a row, none of which I will EVER use because they keep interrupting my show!

the app cuts part of show when breaking to commercial and when watching on phone in landscape mode, you have to keep rotating your phone back and forth because the app puts the viewing back in portrait orientation when commercial comes on

Soo many ads, repeated over and over and over, like 5 ads that just keep playing again and again, obnoxious, most content is behind a paywall. the audio is out of synch as well when casting. after I finish the show I'm watching I'm deleting.

For some reason I have to delete and re-install the app to get it to load, unless I leave it running all day which is annoying 😒

this is worthless. all it shows is the old reruns unless you already have access through your TV provider, then why do you need this app. I only found reruns. what a bore!

try and try again, it used to stay in full screen mode on my android. now every ad it changes back and then won't go into full screen. someday the developers might get it right.....

was excited to use app, love history channel shows, app kept crashing & when I was finally able to use it without crashing i couldn't watch anything cuz it says "wifi only" but I don't have wifi, only data on my phone. I don't have a TV or computer cuz I live too far out in the middle of nowhere, I barely have cell signal but enough to make it. all my "tv" is whatever i can watch on my phone. so cuz the app only let's u watch on wifi, I had to uninstall it.

I enjoy watching the History Channel because you are always teaching me about new and old things from around the world.

I really like watching this channel because I don't have a television right now and it shows everything but I like to watch especially the animals this is a wonderful TV show to watch

You need to just play the program,we don't need what you're trying>to add to it.

so before the app wasn't working. now it is currently working except when you turn it sideways to have the screen fit your phone it doesn't want to stay it keeps going back and you can't watch it in full view you have to keep turning it I tried looking at all of the settings nothing has worked I had no issues with it before the update thing

Unusable. App states there is a required update. Click ok to update and there isn't an update just gives me the option to open or uninstall. Go to updates in the Playstore, no update there either. So there is a required update needed for the app to work but there is no update available. Uninstall the app restarted phone and reinstalled the app. Still shows required update available. Totally worthless.

does not work, will not let me setup a password, keeps saying bad email. it's the right one. app also wants to update but when I hit update it keeps saying my email is incorrect. keeps going back and forth from login to update back to login, that's all it's doing.

I watched app yesterday, no problems. today it won't play! I tried all the troubleshooting tips and internet is strong. emptied cache on all apps, rebooted twice, & no updates available? so why is it blocking from opening and then stating an update needs to be done. but there is None!!??

keep getting message I need updated app and when I click on "update" it doesn't update - I cannot access it and yes I have the proper browser, software etc very frustrating

App will not allow me to use it. When opening, I'm presented with two buttons: update or cancel. when clicking update, I just get the open button on the play store. Basically a loop. wanting me to upgrade, then not given the opportunity.

I love history. I can't afford the upgraded version so there's many advertisements and limited viewing options, but there's plenty of the shows that I like.

I timed it, there are literally more ads than content on most episodes. plus the ads keep kicking me out of full screen. its so frustrating. its definitely something thats fixable, but they seem to greedy to care. further, id never pay for ad free given how many ads you play per episode. you dont deserve my money. you have a month, fix it or im gone.

Since the last update you can start whatever show & fullscreen, but when that add comes on it flips from fullscreen, then when the ads are done & it goes back to the show it won't let you expand back to full screen. You have to exit the show & the go back in to resume your show & pray it doesn't kick you to an ad, please find a fix!

App is absolute garbage. I have gigabit internet and speed test shows amazing speeds. This useless app still plays video all pixelated. Has no problem playing all the ads in HD though. Absolutely worthless app.

New update made the app work so much better. Thank you! The commercial time is way less. main reason why I gave up watching the app because the commercials were quiet excessive. much less now. I appreciate it. Best Christmas present ever! 😆

Every 5 seconds my phone reports the app is non responsive and asks to close it or wait. I've never had this problem with other apps.

After installing the History app my phone would die rapidly. Even with the app not being open it was responsible for 57% of my battery usage.

The amount of ads placed in the programming is absolutely ridiculous especially all the pharmaceutical ads. You show 1 of 8 ads but then play 10-12. Makes it so I don't even want to bother watching the shows anymore.

Buggy, rarely works with chromecast. still garbage 5 years later, audio always off after first commercial

this app is behind the times, when you want to rewind to a point before a commercial it's impossible. you have yo rewarch the commercials you just watched. come on guys you can do better.

The episodes constantly go out of sync at the commercial breaks with the video being a full 4 seconds ahead of the audio.

For the love of God, stop with the Spanish commercials!!! This is America, our national language is English! They have their own channels, why are you putting it on our English speaking programs!? How disrespectful and annoying, I'll never watch your channel anymore. And, it's annoying more people than you think, clearly.

every five minutes, I get 7 or more ads, and almost all of the shows and episodes are paywalled! This app is one of the biggest money grabs I've ever downloaded!

There's more commercials than actual content when watching a show in this app. First commercial break was 3 ads. 2nd break was 6 ads. 3rd break was NINE ADS! All for a 21-minute episode of "I Was There." I'm not watching anything on this app again.

History channel apps are garbage. Won't stay connected to cast, then won't properly disconnect to try again after reloading the app. Doesn't save any watch progress, doesn't play continuously; I have to start from open screen if I do get to (rarely) watch a whole episode without disconnecting. Closed captions only work half of the time. Sound and video are always unsynced. The paid version is equal bad. Have tried multiple devices.

I can't watch anything. I unlocked all of the episodes using my TV Provider and it just has a loading circle on the screen. ever since I updated the app it's been like this. plus the commercials are SOOOO MUCH louder than the shows are. please fix the app. I love watching the history channel

The screen casting doesn't work with oir smart TV or roku from my amount galaxy. I'm logged in with directv account.

It is rude to allow us to watch only half a season of Skinwalker Ranch and then lock the rest for the entirety of the season. Plus, the ads are quite annoying when they are repetitive and irrelevant. Disappointing.

trying to sign in with dish account and everytime I try the entire app crashes and closes. I have a galaxy s23+. and the ADS! HOLY Mother of Joseph there are so many. way more than others streaming platforms.

difficult. I watch two shows regularly. every time I have to hunt for them. then I have to find the episode I was on, and where I was in that episode. this is most aggravating, as the commercials interrupt my searching continuously -- three or four adds played a dozen times each.

sad to say..I have enjoyed history on Roku, especially the ALONE episodes. seems like this year they aren't unlocking the episodes like they have in the past the day after the episode airs. guess I'll be finding a better App with less glitches when it comes to commercials. being a senior I can't afford to subscribe to all apps especially when I don't enjoy most of the programs. blessings from USA.
