the app works fine and functions like it's supposed to. you can download videos for offline viewing, however, when viewing videos in offline/downloaded mode it does not save the progress of where you were up to in an episode. for example in Reincarnated as a Sword I was 16 minutes into the episode. it saved the progress for online viewing but not for offline viewing.

Dubing stinks of laziness and they don't even dub the written language. Only really worth anything if you don't speak English.

great content..wish I could afford it every month..so I just watch for a few months and take a break until new animes come out

App is incredibly buggy. It will log you out of your account if you don't use it for more than a few hours. It's also incredibly difficult to find what you're looking for or browse for new anime. the selection of content is small and not worth the price of the subscription.

I like the app as it has some better options than Crunchyroll, and English Dubs that it doesn't have. but it would be great if you could create apps for consoles and TV's as well.

downloaded the app to watch some of the exclusives. user interface on the phone (android) is fine. saved watch list. saves the episode your on in each series. could use with a like button to help get an accurate understanding of user preferences. also could do with a mote refined browser feature with more filter options. but overall happy with the app considering the bad ratings it currently has on Apple store

This app is incredibly glitchy. I have new problems with it every month. Currently, the app won't work when I'm on wifi. I have to turn off wifi to get anything to load. Once the video starts, I can put it back on wifi. Reinstalling the app does not fix any of my issues.

Why does your app keep logging me out, saying my session has expired after being logged in for less than 2 hours? AND IT'S TAKING FOREVER TO LOAD ANYTHING!!!

really bad app the auto rotate in app will randomly rotate even tho I have it off on my phone. and every time it buffers it'll rotate the screen. crunchyroll is far superior. i wanted to watch a few shows only on here so I started the 7 day trial .. ill definitely be canceling it this apps the worst its almost unusable. and why do I have to turn the caption off on every video? the words dont even match what they are saying!!

I wish that they would add a DUB option to the filters so I can filter out the sub only anime due to watching anime with my father who has a TBI. Other than that, has a great selection of anime (most of it uncensored-thank you 🫡)and id highly recommend it to the anime lover in your life

It was fine until it stopped working. I keep getting connection failure errors. The worse part is I pay for a subscription and can't even log in to cancel if I can't use the service.

app isnt great, recent(past year-2) library reduction is pretty terrible, but they're making somewhat of an attempt to release new fantasy ecchi comedy anime. personally I feel that's good enough to try to support. as a last hope for supporting anime that is not crunchyturd, it isn't terrible. I feel 2.4/5 is a bit too harsh. I was expecting 3.4/5. however, if you keep your expectations low, you wont be disappointed.

It's been around 1.5 years since my previous review of 1 star. They've improved the app. Slowly... sooo dam slowly to adjust or fix issues. My gripes recently is the UI (TV version) for what you have selected is hard to see and can easily lose where you're at. It signs me out after a period of time and no real indication that you're signed out until you try to watch something. And lastly my biggest grip! The 30 second scrubbing in videos! It was 10s before, why go back to the 30s?!

No option to change subtitle color. They are always this annoying yellow color instead of white, like literally every other subtitle ever.

the app is logging out, while I'm streaming. most recently, it has signed out five or more times within an hour of watching, really annoying..or no more Dub Filter? the Dub category seems to be smaller, 50 is my count..hidive has gone downhill over the years apparently.. definitely not worth the upcharge..

its a great service for watching anime but the app itself is the issue it has bugs i had to uninstall it and reinstall it because all I was getting was a black screen as well as its data heavy even if you download the anime it still uses an insane amount the only way around it is if you're in airplane mode which is inconvenient

not worth getting it's worse than Crunchyroll not to mention their support is a joke when it comes to assistance and fixing a issue where the subtitles even though you have them fully set to off they still keep popping up so there no better than Crunchyroll in fact they may be worse can't recommend it myself anymore

I was deeply disappointed recently as they've gotten rid of all queer, BL, Yaoi. but are perfectly content with keeping GL and Yuri content. the hypocrisy in this decision is deeply disappointing. And I likely will not be renewing my subscription when it expires due to this decision. redo healer is ok, but boys kissing in an anime isn't. that's a pretty weird standard.

I like the anime selection, and your a competitor to crunchyroll who basically holds a monopoly on western anime distribution. However the audio quality and dubs are far worse the crunchyroll too. Its probably just because yall are a lot smaller than crunchyroll, but I still hope it improves. I dont understand the other reviews saying the app is hard to use and sometimes things don't work, as personally I haven't experienced any difficulty using the app. Buttery smooth.

I personally don't understand the amount of hate this app gets. It's a smaller company so it is obviously going to have a smaller more select library. You can find anime here you can't find other places. They have a "dubs" section so easy to find if that's how you prefer watching. I've also really enjoyed some of their newer animes-been some sleeper hits for me. They also often offer trials or promos so you can give it a test run.

FIX YOUR AUTO PLAY!!!!Second-worst app I've ever used (FU Apple tv plus). No wonder Crunchyroll is dominating you. When choosing a show you can't pick the season you want to start at. You have to search for it. At the start of every dubbed episode, it switches to sub and I have to exit out and restart it for it to play dubz. Sort defeats the point of streaming. No options (worth anything) in the options menu. Just get crunchyroll

The app itself is pretty good. No issues streaming, no crashes, intuitive. I really appreciate it supports PIP so you don't have to stop a show to check something else on your Android device. I think my only knocks are on the content side. I would like to see a larger library mainly. I would also like to see some overlay translations for text like some competitors do.

The app has gotten a little bit better. But they are very slow at adding anime and lately they've just been adding really old anime. They lose anime all the time.

Originally HiDive worked well, despite the issue of finding content you wanted to watch being troublesome however now, often the app has problems loading ANY content. Just recently an error stating "something went wrong" uninstalling and reinstalling the app does nothing to solve this. Highly disappointing.

most of these reviews are user error because I was able to navigate the app just fine on a Samsung tablet and phone. However it does randomly sign me out and sometimes it's hard to sign back in.

Useless. Has been fine for ages, but now just displays a "something went wrong" message on a black screen. Using a browser instead works fine.

I set the audio to Japanese with English subtitles. I got English with English sub and the sub won't turn off. UPDATE: Roku has to be told to turn off subtitles every episode. Also the spoken language still will not change. I want Japanese language with English subtitles.

Like most reviews, the content isn't the issue. The GUI & UX is horrendous. All the basic functions of a streaming service are missing. watched eps disappear, you're lucky to be able to quickly pick up where you left off in a series. Search, mixes , randomly between eps and series, the eps you mostly don't even know what series it belongs too. All it takes is to look at any other major streaming platform and copy it. a price hike shouldn't have been placed until these basic functions were fixed.

I've been pending cancellation for months.. they just charged me again. $85...DO NOT USE THIS APP, THERE'S NO WAY TO CANCEL UNLESS YOU CALL YOUR CREDIT CARD AND BLOCK THEM

they need to fix the "I forgot my password" system for when you get forced logged off and you can't remember your password, it shouldn't be ask for the password you forgot, and just make a new one.

no content available message for multiple titles. frequently freezes requiring restart. autoplay doesnt work and you have to go back to title screen. subtitles are poorly created and appear on top of each other. cant make setting changes in app. have to go to website to make changes.

Tried Hidive when it was new, app was complete garbage. Recently re-subscribed because of the consistently decent titles, the app is STILL garbage. Some titles play, some don't. The subtitle options are either zero or 1000 and the app freezes any time you want to change it. Generally all the customization options are stuck in the dark ages.. and technical support? What's that? Using browsers and apps, honestly have a 100% better experience on pirating sites unfortunately, even with ads.

they have made it very difficult to cancel your subscription. it does not show up in Google play store. like they said, and it does not let you cancel through the webpage. and it billed me twice for several months!

Other than the occasional Wi-Fi glitch, it ain't that bad, the one thing that Crunchyroll doesn't do is that you can see the date of when to expect your next episode ( for my case I love seeing the next episode date, i watch a lot of new anime on Crunchyroll and having to remember when it comes out takes a long time ) or when they have a new anime, you can see when they add the dub, if they ever do.

very close to five stars just needs more organized downloads rather than just having all of your downloads in a list by episode name, should be grouped into folders by the show's anime name. there is a new bug with the latest update, there is a new notification that pops up when an episode is done downloading and if you were watching anything it will force the phone into portrait mode to show a notification at the bottom of your screen.

Really good app to watch anime all the needs, it's a rating system.

Edit: Android app runs well now and search functionality works way better than it did, even just browsing is improved. Most importantly I haven't been experiencing crashing, auto play not working or show forgetting what episode im on. App is pretty bad overall. From constant crashing to not accurately tracking your shows watched. But has some good exclusives and is cheap compared to other streaming services. Edit to 1 star. Even downloaded shows constantly crash due to errors.

Too much $ for the tiny amount of new entertaining content. Basically every 12 weeks you get 1 new series that is good which is released live (1 episode per week).

good streaming app , but lacks up to date anime

To be honest HDIVE hasn't really updated the app or website properly in years at this point. The fact that it has no where near the polish nor the ability to remember watch history like all the competition is making me not want it anymore. The exclusives keep me using it but is i ever lose my place it is far from easy to pick up right where I left off. Even if you find the episode where you left off in the watch history it will often just play the one episode and then stop... Copy other sites...

you have to currently go into dub so you can turn on subtitles for the sub. every single time you open the app or even sometimes when you minimize it for more than 30 seconds. Limited and Expensive At first it seemed ok for £40 per a year but now it's gone up to £60 per a year and it doesn't provide a lot really so I don't think it's worth it. I've cancelled my subscription just yesterday sorry. I think it would be better if all the shows were added to Hulu.

it's been good but the series I was watching lost english dubbing halfway through the series. I understand this isn't controlled by the app but an auto pause feature would be good so you can read the subtitles before they go off the screen, or a text to speech dub for when normal dubbing isn't available. I downloaded the app to my tv but it tends to have trouble playing. it keeps skipping frames.

App is a little clunky, but it worked decently well. Emphasis on the past tense. I have tried force stopping the app, uninstalling and reinstalling, as well as closing and reopening the app, but nothing will make it work lately. It just loads up the HiDive logo and sits there forever. Literally unusable.

I've been using hidive for years in the last couple months, the subtitles will not pop-up on the app on my phone. I've reached out to customer service multiple times and they just told me to go to my browser, but on my browser, I have to watch it not on full screen in order to see the subtitles, but on the tv it's fine. it's highly inconvenient because I typically watch it on my phone, and i've had no help fixing the problem of getting any subtitles to show.

I have been using this app for the last year on my phone and now any anime I watch in sub I can't watch as the sub is not thier in the sttimg menu and can only watch if it in English and Japanese. this has only just started in the last 2 weeks. I like the Website as it has alot of anime that I watch when I was younger and like to watch now and then. if this is not fix i will have to end my sub and go back to piracy again.

Loads of anime but I don't like the controls/lay out. Like you can't just move the joystick forward on console to fastforward. You have to use the arrows to fastforward but it doesn't show you where you are at. So you keep going for forward or backward to get to the spot you want to be at. update: still a horrible app with an absolute garbage layout... they make no effort to improve it either when the fixes are soo easy. still ran by idiots, apparently in 2026...

Bruh its 2026, why do episodes still launch in dub despite my preferences being saved to Japanese as my preferred audio? why is it when I click a show to "continue watching," you dont show me the next episodes of the show underneath and instead show me related shows. Why would you think my User Experience for watching a show would benefit by revolving around other shows I didnt choose to watch? Literally every other streaming service, episodes are easy to access and "more like this" is elsewhere

poor quality apps and poor management decisions although they have shows you won't find elsewhere, they consistently remove titles. their apps showcase poor quantity from their development team and a lack of proper management to try and improve them. It makes it hard to justify paying for their service.

My concern is the fact that you have to cancel subscriptions through whatever device you used to set it up on. It's not something you can just do on their website. So if you did it on your Roku TV you've got to go through Roku, if on your phone either Google Play or Apple Store, etc. I apparently did mine on a Roku TV that doesn't belong to me. Meaning that I have no way of canceling my subscription without their assistance. I'll just cancel my credit card. Also, Ai-Chan sucks at trying to help.

love the different selection to choose from however their simulcasts take quite a while before they even offer subtitles so I can't exactly watch them as they start streaming. I would give a higher rating if y'all at least release subs in English with the shows that aren't available in dubs

I don't think I have the service. if it's not playing a video by the end of tomorrow expect the cancellation of my next service payment.

As someone who tends to prefer anime that isn't necessarily "trending" or widely popular, I find this service to be a good alternative to Crunchyroll. While I still utilize Crunchyroll, I also appreciate what this service offers. For example, I don't like Chainsaw Man, Demon Slayer, or Fairy Tail. I believe that popularity doesn't inherently dictate whether one should watch something, even if it's frequently presented. If a series doesn't capture my interest in 5 episodes I drop them.

I think it is fair to say that the service is quite good. not as some users said that they encountered extreme difficulties to use. It's either they don't give a second chance and never return or hate the company too much. The app will record your watching progress, no issue with loading videos, the subs are embedded. Plus, you could select 1.5x speed and it can remain a small picture in picture. The service has definitely improved from listening to the customers' feedback.

App freezes and content wont load. Save yourself time and hassle and go watch your shows elsewhere.

Your shows are subpar compared to other platforms so why would I pay for whats free and better quality elsewhere... had this ap for 3+ years and only found 4 shows worth watching, definitely not paying.

Subtitles never work the same day an episode comes out.

no reason I'm paying for an app that doesn't work half the time. it signs you out for no reason the other half it only shows you three episodes or no episodes. worst anime app I've ever used

Hidive is misleading customers into purchasing a subscription by advertising content not available in certain regions. When viewing the app this is not made clear. Only after subscribing and receiving 'content unavailable' when clicking on shows, did I find this out. I understand it is due to licensing restrictions, but I believe it is dishonest to then advertise shows in countries they are not available. As an anime fan I want to support legal streaming but can no longer support Hidive

Fantastic content badly let down by truly terrible streaming technology. it was getting better but then they took away the ability to search for dubs.

decent amount of content, but incredibly buggy...icons like casting disappear after .1 seconds

I like that they are at least trying, which is far more than crunchyroll ever tries to do. but on the mobile app, there is no way to turn subtitles on or change audio. among the new problems, the majority of the old problems are still there but much prettier now, so that's a start.

yes, worth it, don't hesitate. Ignore the lazy sacks of a$$ that don't wanna push a few buttons because they've never seen hard work a day in their life let alone a gym or an aspiration... the user interface isn't the best and is a bit unstructured, in terms of no auto play and pressing your finger to the screen to choose the next episode (so difficult right?) and the way you create lists is a little off.... aside from that it has a bunch of good titles and at a fraction of the price of C.R.

It a great app but there needs to be auto play and made a like and dislike button. and the app feels okay to use. so it's a okay anime app to use overall.

good selection, app frequently doesn't work, horrid UI

Almost every single time I use the app, something ends up happening: 1- Closed captions not appearing while they're enable (both streaming & on downloads) 2- Error loading the episode (happens more often with bad connectivity, but even with downloads!) 3- Some audio glitches (when listening with bluetooth headphones, only happens with this app) 4- Pretty bad at saving the watch progress (even worse with downloads) 5- Have to download one-by-one to stay in order & not download all simultaneously

Paid with Samsung store. No option to cancel subscription through either. Contacted both several times and they blame each other and will not cancel for me. Avoid like the plague.

This message is intended for your team's review. In my assessment, the user interface is commendable, as is the video player from previous iterations. However, I encourage you to persist in addressing any outstanding issues.

This app has really stepped it up here lately. The interface is much better, skip into's are on point. Works on my phone and the Firestick well. Next they need to work on the search function and recommendations. If they can get those down, it would put the app ahead of Crunchyroll in my book.

Hidive sucks... literally the only other paid anime specific site apart from Crunchyroll in Australia and it SUCKS. BUGGY AS HECK. CHARGED ME YESTERDAY FOR MY ACCOUNT AND IT WON'T LOG IN SIGNED UP WITH SAME EMAIL AND IT LET ME SO THEY DELETED MY ACCOUNT AND STILL CHARGED ME FOR IT. I LOST MY PROFILE AND EVERYTHING. Will NOT be signing up again for this... not even worth $9 a month.

hardly anything in subbed and when you want to cancel your subscription they play a stupid game and say that they cannot cancel a subscription to there own website... seems pretty shady to me. Even after I canceled they still keep trying to charge me and when brought to their attention, they said it's on me because I didn't cancel the scription to their website correctly even though they could do it in a heartbeat themselves. if you are having problems with HIDIVE talk to a lawyer... after 2 weeks, I think I'm gonna go back to crunchy roll. app is almost unusable. after 2 weeks with no issues. I can't stay logged in more then 5 min before I get the expired session msg. instantly logged out. hot garbage. I've done all the suggested troubleshooting nothing is working. I'll pass

Can you really consider a show to be subbed if it doesn't have any subtitles....

they want you to pay and not ever watch or find anything. good luck using the app or even the webpage.

show freeze , I tried to watch a show but it would stop, I couldn't exit or anything, I tried watching in the phone and same results.

app won't open anymore. it just stays on the HIDIVE logo for 5-10 minutes
