Easily the best newspaper app. Functionally this app works well and aesthetically it's the ultimate. Journalism is second to none and happily neglects the dross we don't need to know in favour of the quality detail we do. Compared to the few broadsheet newspaper apps in the UK, although their Journalism is almost equal the apps are dire.

The FT widget is broken since the most recent update i did. i had a whole page with the widget that was showing me all important headlines including subheadlines. now, even though the widget is full screen, black and it only shows 2 lines and is horribly formatted. Bring the old widget back!!! This happens when you rewrite a beautiful feature with horrible AI! Edit: also since the latest update, the app keeps crashing when you have voice reading activated and switch to another app.

Great app, appreciate the offline feature. The next steps would be to be able to queue articles for listening and to able to download the article for offline listening.

There's a problem with ads in this app. whenever the network is choppy (e.g. when travelling on a train), ads resize, causing your position in an article to jump back and forth, as they expand or contract and push the text around. This makes reading impossible! I raised this with support and sent them a video, but they were unable to fix this despite several attempts. Otherwise everything works fine.

Since a few weeks the articles jump constantly up and down on android, making reading very annoying. I believe this is due to ads resizing or simar, pls fix asap!

nice app. works really well and you can access crosswords from the paper too. you can also look at markets, save articles, and sign up to newsletters so as far as news apps go, it does a lot!

20 Oct 2026, 4 star: The FT Widget displays FULL article titles again. Thank you for the good decision to do it. However, the atypical font diverts from the ones intuitively associated with the FT. The innovation is quietly telling us of upcoming changes to the paper's presentation/typography. 17 Sep 2026, 3 star: Great app until now. The Top Stories widget used to show readable titles. But now it is showing only THE FIRST 4 WORDS OF AN ARTICLE TITLE.

Best news app I've used. Slick & easy to use. Its caching is fast and effective. So I can read stuff even on the tube! And ofc the journalism is top notch. minor problems: - switching for protrait to landscape send me back to the previous article - using the back navigation when an image is zoomed takes you back to the previous article. not too the current article.

widget doesn't work after upgrading the app to latest version, it is squeezed and only showing 3 rows

For news content and coverage, I would rate this app 4 Star, however for ease of use 1. it keeps dropping off while on Audio and there is no provision to create a queue of articles that you wish to hear.. very basic stuff. Great news team, poor technology team which needs immediate performance review based on reader feedback..

What happened to the widget? I accidentally deleted and re-downloaded the app, so had to add back the widget and now it's HIDEOUS. Just scrolling white text on a black background instead of split into articles + descriptions. Looks worse than AP. You guys know the widget for people who use it is a big part of the reading experience and is basically the digital version of how you'd show up in a newsstand, right? It's such a turnoff, looks cheap and uninspired now. Please fix ASAP.

The articles are great. I had a problem with the app always forcing me to login, almost every time I opened it, but it seems that it's now working properly.

Super app. FT really provides in depth more or less neutral coverage. Although focused on finance, it also provides coverage on other topics.

clumsy app, journalism is ok but far below what it once was. Many articles are opinion pieces. I miss the days when the FT provided information and believed its readers could form their own opinions.

The app asks me for sign on so often it is annoying. It also does not like my email address. Works well otherwise. Quality of the articles have improved since 2023-4 .

Excellent content, the best UK newspaper. These days, I can't justify the cost of a full subscription so I have FT Edit, which gives a well chosen selection of articles at a very reasonable price. This is great on Apple devices as it has its own section, formerly a separate app, but this isn't available on other platforms which makes finding the relevant articles less smooth - hence only 4 stars.

just the First FT newsletter every morning is worth the subscription. The amazingly rich and balanced content is about half of my daily news intake.

Hard core Global newspaper. If you want to develop a perspective on issues that matter especially in finance, Geo-strategy, sustainability, etc. then this is your go to newspaper.

Animated ads in the middle of the text I try to read is just unacceptable. Especially for this price.

The comments are frequently better than the articles. On paper you don't get to see them. Update: I am still using the app. It's still good. Still here, two years later. Hard to beat.

It works, rarely crashes, nice widget. UPDATE eight years later. When reading via VPN, it helps avoid being blocked by CloudFlare.

This is the best news app I have tried so far. Great and simple layout. Does what it's supposed to do without any bloat. Doesn't send you any advertisements. Non-sensationalist headlines and informative content. Of course you do need a subscription for the FT. Very happy with the overall experience.

The main page doesn't refresh on it's own when you open the app and even after selecting the topics, still shows local news and not much on the world view

Heavily edited for comments no freedom of views. Commented on a poorly written article which was misleading. Rather than correct the story, they turn off comments. cancelled the subscription.

had a few glitches but overall it is a good app. There are no excuses for the lack of a dark theme. Reading news in the evening on a white themed app is not OK. This is something that can be done in a couple of days tops with testing, now in the era of AI coding.

A disappointing effort from a premium publication. The app presents FT content in a phone-friendly swipeable format, but peppers it with advertisements (often animated) even for those paying £100s to subscribe. When a user hits an article which is not included in their subscription, the app no longer allows them simply to move on; instead a pop-up has to be dismissed, with no way to move straight to the next article. Now uninstalled, for me reading in a browser works better.
