Also ESPN as a some kind of journalist entity should cover this story I just created more often. Now if Disney will let me leave I'll be on my way with five stars less in my pocket thanks to the option I picked up here.

pat McAfee is the worst thing to happen to espn. I used to love espn- now I cant stand it- all because of a steroid raging kicker loser named Pat. What were you thinking? get rid of pat mcaffee or go out of business. id rather see espn die than pat McAfee continue to broadcast. what a loser and espn pumps him up like he's a god. have fun not being a network anymore in less than 5 years- and it is 100% you picking a steroid using nut job over your loyal customers that have been watching you.

Almost perfect but I never get all the notifications for soccer. I'll usually get at least one (a goal or Half Time) but I almost never get subsequent goals or game over.

One star until ESPN fixes its following settings and live updates. I can't disable "Breaking News" or other major notifications—they keep coming after I've turned them off multiple times. The app also frequently shows stale data, with games or events still listed as live hours after they've ended. Today at 5 PM it was still showing 1 PM tee times. Overall, the app has declined due to prioritizing monetization and, possibly, overreliance on AI-assisted software development over quality!!!!

I hardly ever leave reviews, and I'm somebody who has countless streaming apps. But this app is by far the worst of all streaming apps. There are more commercials than content. Its annoying and frustrating. Ads come in at the most inconvenient times. They always seem to exceed 90 seconds. Some as long as over three minutes. Insane. If you have not purchased their subscription packages, do not bother doing so.

My TV provider is YouTube TV. The current app only works for one session after uninstalling and reinstalling. It's a hassle, but at least it's still an awesome app once it gets working.

App doesn't give out all the notification its supposed to. Every Wednesday the NFL buzz file comes out and I never get the notifications despite having notifications turned on for every team mentioned in the article. Also draft article notifications are inconsistent as well.

ESPN is not a sports app 😂 I feel like this is false advertising? I dont think they have the right to "call" themselves a sports app anymore. Im legit paying for 90% commercials to be shoved down my throat and a light sprinkle of sports. Wow, like I read it was bad but had no idea it was this bad. Is ESPN covering only commercials now? Do they know commercials aren't a sport?

impossible to manage your subscription in app. also, its pretty cool that I paid for a membership to not watch ads and I still have to watch 3 minutes of ads before I can even start the stream, and then another set of ads every 5 minutes which takes away from the game. im canceling my subscription immediately. If it wasn't broke why change it. Commentators that were iconic or legends in exchange for Disney take on "diversity and inclusion" I guess. I can't listen to a game with a female broadcasting Men's basketball or football. I know how it sounds and I respect their knowledge, work ethic, and determination but some try too hard others say they are a member of a certain community with saying it and then others have never played or coached but are giving opinions that are laughable. Disney divas.

This is actually an amazing app. it has all of their radio stations, including local espn stations, you can watch sports on it, either with an individual subscription or thru the Disney Hulu espn bundle. good stories, mostly good coverage (-1 star for some recent bungles) it's really a good one stop shop for everything.

Don't fall for ESPN Unlimited. On my Google TV, the ads are buttery smooth but the actual sports start fine and within 5 seconds. stutter to be unwatchable. I've rebooted and reinstalled, all other streaming apps are fine, on 2Gbps fiber. Thought I'd Chromecast instead but no, it hands off to the TV app. Please ask your advertising CDN if you can borrow their tech for what's supposedly your core product.

I guess Google disagreed with my last review, because it got taken down. So, I'm going to leave the exact same review again. ESPN is more concerned about pushing a political agenda than about accurately covering sports happenings. As a result, I am deleting their app and not watching any of their shows. When/if ESPN delivers quality sports content instead of politics, then I will be back. As for now, I will find another app. EDIT 10/23/2026: Gave them another try and nothing's changed.

I use to like this app but lately it is making me angry. It does not hold the alerts I set for games I want to be notified about and it is sending me breaking news about sports I dont care for. I have breaking news alerts turned off but still getting NBA news when I dislike the NBA! NBA even shows in my top events when I DONT LIKE THE NBA!!

Incredible app but notifications are still broken. There are too many praises to list for this app (including 3rd party account integration) but notifications are just broke. On the surface it looks like it has great controls for tailoring what things you get notifications for, but it just doesn't work. I've turned off all notifications except for "game start" for 3 teams and I still get notifications for breaking news despite those being explicitly turned off. Fix it and you'd have a 5 star app

Regularly refuses to stream live. Just attempted to live stream MNF on an Android phone, the stream would not play. I was only going to stream on the phone until I reach the living room to turn on the TV. The Watch feature always has issues.

App has gotten so much better last few months but just noticed a minor bug when watching epsn channels live on my phone. For some reason there is a small black bar at bottom of video when phone is in landscape view. So if there is a ticker or score, the bottom gets cut off. Doesn't do this when phone is in portrait view. And it's only for live videos as watching non live videos there is no black bar or anything cut off. Also, why doesn't your app show the NFL teams on a bye for each week?

wish you could watch games live for free

Almost never opens the page that it linked from. When I'm already on the ESPN website and click on something, I don't want it opening the app instead. Just take me to the page on the website. Atrocious UX.

football ESPN

Historically has always been a terrible app at any moment in time. Dark mode in 2025 is a win, but the redesign is rough; seeing stat leaders for a game is convoluted now with different lines and font sizes. Verts are low quality media. It's essentially a gambling app and sports in general are just harder to enjoy with gambling everywhere. What responsibile parent would expose their kids to this? ESPN use to be cool, but now your the product, not sports. Stay safe, don't give your money away.

This app is getting worse. Every game I watch has 15 second audio delay behind the video I'm watching. I put in the sports I want to watch and it put every sport I could care less about as the first options to watch first. why did I put favorite in then?

They have you pick your favorite teams which is nice, but what is the point if you have to search for your favorite teams to watch or see a score. Then they trick you into thinking you can watch your favorite team...opps, nope, sorry you need a TV provider to watch your team on ESPN Ocho...what a total pathetic excuse of an app.

Why do I keep getting notifications almost exclusively for things I'm not subscribed to? College football? I'm not subscribed to any college sports. NFL? Nope, not that either. WNBA? No, sir. I'm subscribed to 2 European football (soccer) teams, and everything else is disabled. Please stop spamming me unless you want me to delete you.

Terrible app and tech. Even if you try to hide the scores to live TV it doesn't work reliably and it's impossible to fast forward or rewind in any sensible way. Of all the streaming apps this is the one with the worst tech

Why in the hell do I have to log in? And pay for another plan to watch the college game on CW network. I have ESPN I have C. W on my subscription plan so why the f can I not watch the c? W game on my phone or compute

I use this app strictly to get game notifications from teams I follow such as game start, scoring play, and final. Recently even though I have every other notification type turned off in the app including the trending ones, I have been getting absolutely DROWNED in notifications I do NOT care about. I don't want notifications that say things like "WE ARE NOT WORTY" because of some dudes one handed catch. I don't care.

Just like everything ESPN does these days, this app is trash. Their fantasy app is trash. Their website is trash. ESPN is trash. The videos never play. The app is clunky when switching screens.

This app works when it wants to. It's really quick to send you an update on anything, but once you click on that update, it doesn't load, EVER. So good luck on that. Super frustrating 😤

this is just junk. first of all when i go in to watch a hockey game or any game after its started i dont want to know the score. when you try and watch from beginning and fast forward through commercials it will freeze and you will have to start all over again. the streaming quality is junk too. i wish i didnt have to watch anything through espn but sometimes theres no other choice.

People need to boycott this app, or at least stop giving money. It is ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE to spam users with notifications that they did not sign up for and cannot turn off (without turning off the notifications they actually want)! I just got a notification for someone I was not tracking that according to Android was under the "All Notifications" area, and there is no way to disable notifications like that in the app, meaning that I will lose other notifications if I disable this category!
