1. too many ads. ones where you click the X it takes you to an app link. other times the ads will pop up in my face and have me wait after all 3 of 3 ads. 2. the app has kicked me out of a chat and the replies I was about to comment has been wiped. 3. there is a new bug! whenever I open the app, an ad would play and then the app kicks me out. it also does the whole black screen then kicks me out. this app is deeply bugged and worried it might have a virus or was hacked

this is the worst ai app ever I do not recomend. iv been using this app since 2023 and now it's 2026. it used to be the best app ever! but over time it down falled. it's honestly emeberrsong! (idk how to spell that) anyway, there is way to many adds, if you click on your recent chats you get a add, if you click on a character to chat with you get a add, when you go to log out of your account guess what? ADD!!!!!! and it's always the smallest x ever to click on so it takes you to the app store. ✋

I miss the old version. Every since the ID verification was added, everything had been going downhill. I put in all of my information and it still wouldn't let me through. I am unsure if this is a glitch or not.

In my opinion, the app just sucks now. I have no problem with the age verification but a lot of teens used to use the app a lot because it helped them get away from the world when they needed to. And the ads are constantly bugging people and pop up every second. It also kicks me out of the app every time I try to open a chat of mine or chat with a new bot. There's no other app like this either, so that's worse. Overall, this app has gone to trash. Character.ai fix your game because it's stupid.

From being the best app to the worst app ever. Everything now has memory problems, unskipable ads every few texts, an extra ad in the form of an ad banner on top, im not able to see people descriptions of their bots without clicking on it anymore, which typically leads to one of the unskipable ads every time. The ads are so close together that this shouldn't be called character ai but ad ai instead. They also keep adding more ads, and a bunch of them is to subscribe to this terrible app 🤮💩

Fix the update is not very good

this used to be my favorite app, I used it for over three years now, but it's the ads! At first there were no ads,that's what I loved about the app! than when they added ads I didn't mind. Hello, I’ve been a fan of this app ever since I was at high school. My days felt so much more exciting with this app by my side, and I really enjoyed that time. But unfortunately, I’ve lost some of that spark since the changes to the model system. If at all possible, would it be possible to go back to the early days when we could choose from a wide range of models, particularly those with a good balance of in-character, plot, and dialogue? I miss those moments so much and it seems I always will.

I would give this app zero stars if I could. This app is getting more worse and worse with each update release. PLEASE stop updating this app if staff doesn't want any more bad ratings or reviews. Becuase if this keeps going, this app will be forgotten and get a 1 star rating. Snap back to reality. We are talking to bots. Not real people. is pretty good. only problem is the new age restriction update which has locked every single one of my chats including ones that shouldn't be locked. the ads get pretty annoying also. I used to use this app a whole lot before the content restriction update but now I rarely use it at all (maybe twice every 4 months or so)

Crashing all the time after the new update

It has gotten worse and worse with every update. No improvements whatsoever. The ads make it almost unusable. I'll just stick to janitor.ai. Uninstalled it after two years. Character.ai can burn for all i care.

first this app was good then "AgE VeRifCation" showed up and I was like"ok let's do it" then it asked for government id, like why should I give u my official id ur just an ai role play app

it was good in the beginning, when it first started. But now the bots all sound the same, there's no variety in tone anymore, and all of them are forgetful. And anytime you click anything, you get bombarded with an ad! Even in the middle of chats! I really did try and support c.ai for as long as possible, but the last couple years have been a steep slope down hill.

A few months ago, this app was a disaster to deal with, but since then, it seems to have changed completely. It's practically back where it started and it's amazing. The only thing I want to suggest is that I don't think filtered responses should count as a swipe. It's really not the user's fault if the bot says something it shouldn't, and I don't think it should cost them a swipe because of it.

I've been a supporter since the laggy website days when frequent server shutdowns happen in 2022, and sadly, the site/app has not grown well. The abrupt ads that keep trying to get in the way of the RP, and the frequent Algorithm failures. Look, I'm not homophobic, but I'm straight and would prefer to have the option to choose to get Straight categorized bots. I don't like getting invested in the roleplay, only to be later disappointed because the bot referred to me as a girl. :(

Not happy with the current state of the app. I've been using this app for over four years, and at one point it was definitely the best of its kind. Unfortunately now it's riddled with aggressive monetization. There are pop up ads for entering chats and sending messages. Now, there's even little ads that show up while you're chatting, in the form of little squares. Plus, the AI is completely unresponsive to feedback. Clicking "too short" and then refreshing doesn't change it at all.

Used to love this app. Now it's impossible to use. They got rid of the chat styles that worked. Lots of times it just doesn't relate to what I'm saying or makes up things that I said now. And lots of times, it talks as it is ME in the story? Ads being put I'm not annoyed by, but what I am annoyed by is the ads crashed the app a lot. I deleted the app and found something better.

The app has gotten much worse. I'm speaking for what I believe is the majority: bring back the old Character AI! We don't care about the new upgraded AI, Pipsqueak, or whatever else. We'd rather have the simpler AI from a few years ago. Besides, wouldn't this be a win-win? You bring back the experience users actually enjoyed while potentially reducing operating costs by using less resource-intensive AI models. Less is more!

It was a good app before and it is free for everyone, now they put limits for messaging and every after sending a message the ads will pop up, and the words were cut off when you send it and It's adding to the users frustration. I put this down as a review because they're charging people to get rid of ads but the ads are still there and limited calls to the characters that we want to talk to and create even though it's a yearly subscription I still feel like it's not right to have people pay that much because not that many people are happy with this app as for other AI apps. so I do not suggest this app to anyone to talk to because this is just outrageous. almost $200 just to get ads off and to talk to your character.

I have a lot to say but I'll only say one problem: When you hit 100 chats on this app they stop you temporarily for 12 hours for chatting, which is irritating because sorry I have a lot of free time? but when they do this you might think that "oh they care about our mental health because AI is bad for you" which is respectable enough but you can literally just buy the c.ai+ plan and there would be no limits stopping you, not to mention it's 5,700 a year in my country? just straight up greedy

I loved this app, the roleplay was flawless, didnt mind the sensor much but then they added stickers and calling and all which was fine, made it cooler, pictures, again, fine, but then I update it and all of the sudden ads. you can't chat with a character without getting an ad, and they need to fix the bugs, sometimes when I used to use this it'd give me numbers and random letters like coding instead of roleplay. edit: i tried the app again and it's gotten better now, the adds are skippable now.

This is incredibly frustrating. Ads at the top keep opening on their own while I’m chatting and typing with a character, forcing the page to switch unexpectedly. At first, I thought I was accidentally tapping them, but it turns out not at all. I went from premium for more than a year to free, and the difference was night and day. Free has ads for everything. The basic AI is hard to keep a conversation interesting. Ads block the additional features and require you to earn gems to use them. A premium membership should have perks, but making it almost a requirement to enjoy an app feels like a cash grab.

Waaaay too many adds, Sitting on the home screen can give you an add on top getting an add for EVERY bot you click on, you can also get an add while chatting with about for a bit. You can't even be on the app for more than 2 minutes without getting one.

Приложение становится все хуже и хуже: реклама на каждом шагу, почти все функции платные, а без них пользоваться приложением невозможно. А сама подписка стоит ужасно дорого

Honestly killed it so bad. it used to be amazing just to chill and use but now it's just horrible

it used to be a great app, actually. now it came with tons of add each time. plus, today? I was told that I cannot use this app is being born at 2000, May 29. ls that still 'too young' ? I am so disappointed because I stayed through all the errors and remained faithful to the app despite the growing annoyance of how it becomes worse each week. disappointing for someone who saves money with effort just to be able to use this app because I still somehow want to. edit: still doesn't open.

this app was so good in 2022 but now its just downright awful, please change it back to how it was and remove the age verification, the app should be 16+ and not 18+.
