Actually in the first time I don't know what is android system WebView and also I uninstalled it from my all apps but it cause my phone crash and abnormally.

Another app I never installed, probably the Hacker that's been trolling me for six (6) months now. They fully utilize GOOGLE'S developer options for the free tools to hack my stuff and destroy my life. I'm going to the police next week and if there's a way I would love to hold GOOGLE liable as they are clearly helping hackers with free tools!

most of the reviews here are misleading, this app does not cause your phone to get hacked, crash, degrade and so on. it is used in apps to embed websites in android apps, it doesn't provide internet nor is it a web browser on its own. It can be faster than the official chrome app if you use the Via browser, which uses this specific system app to show you websites. it is not malware, it is not slop. let it update

This app was pre-installed. It seems good. I haven't really noticed anything about it.

update: fixed issue by turning off (force to external device) in the developers options settings. if this doesn't work, clear cache and data on Google play store app on the device

you have to switch off developer options to install or update. this has been going on for a while now, fix this. you can also just switch off 'force allow apps to external storage' in the developer options. And switch back on after update/grade. iTunes form , read above why only 1 star! And I know, for me, this is a huge bug. No other apps have this issue.

Buggy, doesn't even appear in the Play store. Kept my Gmail app from loading mail for years till AI came along to diagnose. Had to reinstall ( update with the update it thought it already had.) Brand new phone should not have these problems.

The 5\5\2026 update for this resulted in any app that was installed to a mounted SDmicro card to disappear from the Apps tab on SHIELD TV devices, as well as Favorites on the Home tab. You can still run those apps by going into settings & running them from there, this appears to also add them back to the bottom of the Apps tab. I'm NOT happy with this update...

This app is malware it reinstall all by itself even if you have apps on do not to reinstall automatic. It has gotten worst. It installs every other day now. It screws with the internet apps you have for browsing. If you erase all data & catches & force it to stop working, to have it a day later installed again all on its own. Do not trust this app at all. You dont need it to work your phone at all. The phone works just fine without it. Thee only app doing this. I send reports zero results done.

Literally makes all my apps lag and crash. I've tried everything to figure out what happened in between the past week tht would've done this and it seems others are having the same issue. I've deleted all apps re-downloaded etc etc. And they're still so laggy, as in I'll click on something and about 5-8 seconds later it Will register and that's if it doesn't force closes on itself.

The phone was working just great. It is just when you get updated from Google and also installed unknown apps on the phone that make phones act different. I believe customer should be notified by the developer that just an item is ready, and you should have a choice to want it or refuse 😉 the app. This should not be apply as a one app fit all. Considering this Web view app is a part of the Android operating system, that is needed for certain things to work, it is very annoying that it still has an unresolved issue that is causing some apps to repeatedly crash. Unfortunately the app that keeps crashing on my phone is one that I use every day, often multiple times. The message that came up and told me this app is crashing that one tells me to uninstall it then says it will delete my data if I do, with no explanation of what data it has.

Freezes apps, shuts down apps, refuses to let me open links, phone rings & won't allow me to answer, won't block calls, drains my battery, and a ton more. Going to switch to an IPhone because Android obviously doesn't care if they have our business or not. App is a sorry POS and this Samsung bloated up phone is nothing but loads of Spyware. Disgusting. Wish I could give it a zero rating from day 1 .

It's the worst app I have experienced. It opens constantly when I'm in the middle of a game, or when ever it feels like it. I have disabled it dozen of times, but it enables itself a few days after. This tablet be belongs to me. Apps have no business doing what they please, and constantly opening when it feels like it. It gets dozens of zero stars from me. This is garbage...This is keep changing my call settings so I cant block unknown numbers, it keeps opening up random apps, freezing them, and making me have to keep turning my phone on/off for it to stop for 30-60mins just for it to start back up again. It says I have an update but it wont let me update this app or even uninstall it... I knew there was a reason I switched over to Apple, they dont have these problems at all like Androids do.

If people would manually update then they'd see that the developers haven't done any updates even though it may try to when you set your phone to automatically update. I've learned this when I had issues with fb and other apps. You can go to playstore, manage your apps and update or choose not to when you tap the arrow to the right of each app. People usually set their phones to automatically update and thats great but I learned it downloads stuff that you may /may not want. 10-23 still nothing.

Wont update. It does this sporadically..as in it will go for months updating with no problem, then, for weeks/months it wont download and install. This has been going on for at least 2 years. However, this time it's downloading but then wont install(I get an Error Message w link to troubleshooting webpage). In the past when it wouldn't update, it wouldn't even get to downloading stage. Aways has bug fixes and speedy improvements per month. Never updates very fast. Always slow as anyone can read from other reviews about this one. Why so many bugs? Doesn't instill confidence. What's the point, other then to collect more information about a person, their education, how gullible they may be, and the over all useless endeavor of posting a review of frustration and futility. Nothing's gonna make a difference to the end user.

I have a lot of malfunctions that seem caused by programs from different companies. Also, I don't understand a lot of the technical terms and am afraid of accepting "updates" because a lot of so-called updates are often changes that I don't like and create problems with searching, emails and sharing. What I need is phone-based one-on-one support that is always available. Microsoft used to provide access to live technicians for the cost of a long-distance charge (remember?).

App will not update, even with auto-update selected. When the app is opened, it constantly open a window stating update is needed. It's very very frustrating. I'm not a complainer, usually, but this is frustrating beyond words, especially when a person is not able to go to a lady Gaga concert that they have been waiting on and waiting on and waiting on and we're not able to go and now there is difficulty in retrieving the money for the tickets that were sold. The app doesn't cause your connection to stop, it's the amount of ram you're using. Close multiple tabs on tab bar and run device care. Clear ram, optimize, and that will stop crashes. You don't have to restart your phone to get your connection back, put your phone on airplane mode for 30 seconds and then turn it off, your phone will automatically reconnect at a faster speed. Check what apps you've got running in the background and deny permission to run in the background unless it's necessary.

Says update but doesnt update. It says it can't. You need to fix this issue because I can't remove it from my electronics. That's right multiple electronics, so it's not my problem it is this app. Something that was installed into electronics that can not be removed and yet has many months of complaints, which are the same, says A LOT and yet here we are. Does the app maker not check these?

It's a required app, it basically allows internet access to all the Android apps. Without it, Android apps would fail to collect to the internet. Regarding the app updates, I didn't notice any benefit from updating. As a matter of fact, it seems like the updates make the phone and apps run a little slower and freeze sometimes. Plus, it uses up more storage space. But I assume it helps increase security I suppose. Though I had better experience using the factory version of this app.

After updating all my apps and the system update, my phone still didn't stop randomly crashing my apps in the midst of using them. And when I try to open any app (not just the one that crashed) after that, it will crash immediately. This has been happening since January this year. I have to restart phone or disable this webviewer thing to make them work again. Updating webviewer didn't help, crashes still occur.

Stuck on "update". It refuses to actually update EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. It's been trying to update since November of 2021 at least. Not even what the actual point of this thing is but it doesn't seem to do anything. My Chrome browser is also doing this and started having this issue at the same time but I'm not sure they're connected, I hope they aren't.

This app is always in my dropdown menu bar of my phone. It says "signin error". The app is locked and will not allow you to block notifications. So I have this permanent triangle exclamation bage in the top left of my phone. I have had this galaxy s10+ since they came out and an android phone since 2009. The control factor is out of control. They want you to sign into everything, rate everything, and don't get to "own" your device even after spending over $1k for it.

I was pleased with this app until a week or so ago. My phone started being slow and it got annoying. I have a Samsung Galaxy A51 and it just had a software update last night. It's a version 11 right now. This morning I couldn't even get into my phone for about 5 minutes, and when I did all my apps kept closing and just glitching out. I tried restarting my phone and it finally did. It works okay now but I can't update system WebView, it just says 'pending'. I hope for this to ge fixed soon

The app wants to be updated. But it just sits at pending, spinning away, doing absolutely nothing. So I restart phone, nope, still nothing. Then it tells me suddenly that it's installing, and again sits and spins away. This goes on for three hours during which time I use a non-Google product which works like a dream. It's difficult to understand how a company can survive with products that do nothing to help their customers.

Latest update messed up my volume side buttons on One Plus 7 pro. When I'm in an app like Facebook or Insta & need to turn down volume, it's now been programmed to lower phone call volume instead of app volume. I'm not on a phone call, so why?? Fix please. I shouldn't have to hunt for another step to find & adjust the phone volume while I'm in an app & NOT on a phone call. *Issues w/ pairing & streaming in car now. It just drops back to the phone. I can't hear notifications sounds now as well.

Its not updating... so I think yall need to fix those bugs again. I wrote this on 3/19/2021 and it still doesn't want to update, no one answers emails from the android systems team.. like who do we contact to get help with this issue? It's constantly shutting down my games, internet books, movies...ect. And it's very annoying to deal with because when it does that, I'm always shutting my phone off and restarting it.... It's been a while and even after updating the app I'm experiencing the exact same problems as before. It's been a few months or more and this is still messed up. The only way I can get any apps downloaded to work is by uninstalling the updates for this one. I tried clearing the cache and data for the play store as well as restarting my device and it didn't do any good.

Since the last update, I can't open or run any routines in the Google Home app, and whenever I use any Google app I'm constantly getting a flicker of an error message saying Google has crashed that only appears for a split second. Sometimes the app won't stay open a second before crashing. I have an early morning alarm routine that I can't open which means I can't turn it off or change the time while I'm on vacation this week. Going to have to unplug my speaker overnight so it doesn't wake me.

For those who are having an issue with this app, you have to Uninstall the update to fix the problem. If it is still doing it Uninstall the update again, keep doing it until you have no more problems. That is what I did when certain apps closed out on me and I looked it up on why my apps where force closing. Hope this was any help for you.

Everything sucks. I can't open Chrome, Google Maps, Instagram, Facebook or any of my Samsung apps (gallery, notes, etc) without crashing or freezing at least twice. Oh, and my wifi disconnects every time my phone goes to sleep. Yes, I've corrected all settings and done everything but reset to factory, which is not a viable option. Please please fix this hot garbage.

Since the last update on April 26, 2021. I am unable to open any of my news feed articles and my phone seems to freeze up on certain tasks (i.e., texting, when and if I can click on a news feed article it tends to freeze, or watching a video) never had any of these issues before your last update! I don't think that the latest update fixed any 'bug issues', but, it certainly has caused more 'bug issues'' that I prefer not to encounter!

After the 2 latest updates many apps are crashing..I can't even open them. And since the web view is already updated then I have to continously clear my cache and storage data a million times a day for the apps to start working again (but only for seconds!! Cause if I close the app then I have to clear everything all over again in order for the app to work!) It's extremely frustrating and upsetting that I have a brand new phone, latest version and I can't enjoy using it...!!!

Not sure what happened but on one of my local weather apps, I could watch live video feed, older weather reports, etc, then suddenly, I couldn't watch any of the videos anymore. I've uninstalled, and reinstalled several times, made sure all software updates were successful and I'm at the end of my rope. Nothing fixes the problem. Ugh

For all of those having issues with this app since the update, if you Uninstall all of the updates, then set the program to not auto update, it will fix your issue. I was having the same problems. Talked to a tech friend of mine and he suggested this solution. Never had a problem since. Until a real solution is found, it's our best possible option. To Android... why are you fixing things that don't need fixing? You're chasing users to Apple products.

I wish I could rate it less. I have uninstalled this app dozens of times as well as turn off the auto update. But every day, sometimes multiple times a day, it automatically gets reinstalled. I don't know why, or how, it is automatically reinstalling even though I set it to not. Every time it does it crashes and or causes bugs with most any app I have downloaded.

Update crashes apps. Things were working fine, and this latest "fix" just made many of my apps instantly crash. As you see by the reviews, the issue has yet to be addressed by the developers. It's rendering the phone unusable. I've unistalled, reinstalled, cleared cache, disabled, etc. to no avail. How long until this gets resolved? It's been a couple of weeks now, and still no repair! Come on, get on it already!

I no longer receive notifications for Gmail and any media app I have stops after about 30 seconds. Not being able to listen to music or knowing if I have new/important emails is infuriating. And that's just what I've experienced so far. Would rate negative stars if I could. Having it so we have to download an app to make the phone run more effectively is sneaky, especially when it isn't working.

So haven't been able to open several items including email. The nature of my job makes it necessary for me to be able to revew emails all day everyday. If this app doesn't work, why am I not able to Uninstall or Update it as per the Google recommendation. Like for everyone else, this app kept crashing 90% of my apps, rendering the phone all but unusable. Then it couldn't be updated following the official guidelines. It would stay in "Pending" until it stopped trying. Fortunately, someone posted a workaround (you have to update all apps, then this one gets updated too). Stupid joke. I couldn't even pay my bills for 2 days, as the banking app was one of those crashing. Trust in Android gone for a long time. Good thing I also have an iPhone.

Just rubbish. Clearly this has not been properly thought through. How can you just leave so many customers without their ability to access bank accounts, emails etc. We are still in lockdown and a lot of these services are more important than ever. I have tried numerous times to follow the half baked instructions to fix this issue with no success. The apps are still pending after 2 days!!! Get a proper solution in place immediately.

Thanks a lot for this crazy app & for waiting so long to tell everyone that there was a problem with it, because I've been losing my mind these past several days trying to figure out why my apps kept crashing, closing & wouldn't open. I thought someone had hacked & put a virus on my phone, which I've only had a couple of months, and was debating whether or not to factory reset it earlier tonight, but thankfully I read a news article about the problem before I did.

Like most of us, I lost access to over half of the apps on my phone after the 3/22/21 Update this week. I have spent the past two days trying to correct the problem. Finally read a review that I should type in "update all" in the search bar. This worked. Thank you for that review. You must update ALL. After 2 days of frustration I can access my apps. UPDATE all in the search bar.

I'd give 0 stars if I could. This app has completely screwed up my phone thanks to its recent update, and I'm livid. Now I can't access half my apps because they shut down, kick me out. On top of that, my phone also gets random messages saying apps I haven't used in years are having difficulties running. The problem has apparently been 'fixed', and all you need to do is update this usless app, but my phone doesn't have the option to update it, or uninstall it for that matter. So I'm stuck.

Well several of my apps started crashing out of nowhere. There are no options to uninstall the updates or the app itself so I'm stuck with this dead weight on my phone. Judging by other reviews, this doesn't look like it'll be fixed anytime soon. I uninstalled and reinstalled the apps that got effected and that seems to work. I don't think I ever wanna get a phone running Android OS if this is what happens to my phone that isn't even a year old yet.

After all the app crashes yesterday, tech pages and announcements are saying this app is part of the problem, and the solution is to Uninstall Updates, or Clear Data from it, but you can't, or, at least I can't. The app is Disabled on my phone, with No Option to Enable it or uninstall any updates, and even here, looking at it in the app store, you have no options. Its here, but you can't uninstall, reinstall, or update it. It's just here.

The latest update, released 12 March 2021, broke a number of other apps for me, including Google (search) and Samsung's Email app. Whenever I tried to use them, they would crash with the error message " keeps stopping". Not only could I not access my emails, but every minute I'd get this error message poping up, as the email app presumably restarted or tried to sync. Very irritating! I'm lucky I managed to discover the issue was this, and uninstall all updates!

Today, most of my apps kept crashing along with my google widget. After research, many users found the fix and that fix was uninstalling this app. I did it, and it worked. I tried everything from clearing memory, storage, cache and restarting multiple times. I will not allow this app on my phone again, hell no. The scary thing is when things like this happen, it leads you to believe it's time to upgrade to a new phone or even so, I'm sure many end up upgrading instead of fixing the issue.

Same problem with Chrome. It won't download. From what I hear the people that were able to are still having problems. Glitches, black screens, not being able to get into an app. I think they stopped us from being able to download an update with problems. I wouldn't even try again until you see some positive feedback. Looks like more trouble until then.

First of all I'm curious as to how Google derives its metrics (i.e. so many one and two star reviews, averaging four stars plus). Until this last update I never had to restart my Moto G5 Plus several times a day as I do now; not to mention I seem to always be running out of internal storage space, having to constantly delete whatever I can to make the warning messages ("...some of your apps may not work") go away, for a day or two, anyway, until they come back again. Time to root another one!!!

After the most recent system update, all Google and Android apps won't download updates. Restarting phones and things don't work when it is a functional issue. I had 5 apps update fine, and 2 that won't do anything but start to load and then "request update". For anyone else wondering, it is not your fault. The troubleshooting ideas won't help, and it is not efficient to contact the developer as if it is an individual issue.

It took literally days for me to update. This program nor chrome would update for some reason, until I read a review. Some said they deleted the data on both apps, restated their device and then tried to install. I was apprehensive. I did it and it worked. If you have unlimited data like I do try doing it on wifi as well. I don't know if that made a difference but I couldn't take any chances that is how fed-up I was.

New update, I've been trying to avoid it for 2 weeks, but it forced itself on my phone today. All the logos for the Android / Samsung apps have changed, and NOT for the better. They are much harder to distinguish. The keyboard has changed again, too. Terrible keyboard for someone who actually knows how to type and spell. Worst of all: the time display is now 04 (for the hour) with the minutes (48) displayed underneath. I'm sure the Programmers thought this looked cool. It just looks STUPID.
