I was out of country during those 2 extra weeks with adults at home and no delivery those 2 weeks. They will not do anything. This is a scam newspaper. Do not waste your $$

The font size is too small. While every competitor offers a way to adjust the font size without changing the phone's font, WSJ does not. I cannot fathom why. What a horrible experience it is turning out to be!

Quality news. Very poor App. Crashes a little too much and pushes 50% of the articles to the web browser. This is not hard girls; just provide the same article in the app. I hate going from dark to bright white background when clicking on a story. Such a simple fix tells me you outsourced the tech with zero oversight.

I hate the fact that I have to change the system font to adjust the app font. My system font is just where I want it but the app font is too small. No other app I use has this restriction. For an app that I only use for reading articles it's so frustrating that the articles are so difficult to read because I can't change the font or it's size!

I have been a paying subscriber for years, with recent updates I have to log in almost every time I open the app. When I choose the push news notifications, it brings me to a log in screen and then who wants to put in their login credentials every time they choose a news update notification? Something is wrong with the way the app handles logins and I really hope the developers can fix it - which is a shame because the content of WSJ is great journalism!

Suprisongly ineptly written compared to the NYT & WaPo apps. It forgets credentials every couple of days, and when you log back in, it thinks its a different device. So after a while, WSJ contacts you complaining about the large number of devices using you account. All when in fact, it's their phone app. Still does not support comments 99% of the time. The app does not currently do a good job of refreshing the print edition to the most current date. even after manual refresh the app continues to show print editions days old. additionally a few things that do annoy me are that some articles open in a web browser vs through the app. also, it seems randomly some articles will require you to log back in even though you're already logged in through the app.

If, like me, you have an old account without your full name on the public profile, you may be blocked from commenting. They tell you to contact them to get the profile fixed, but this is also automated and the bots don't understand, so it doesn't get fixed. You'll pay for a full subscription but be forbidden to comment along with everyone else. I've tried twice and ended up canceling subscription both times.

Great News, app needs work. Crossword interface is improving (couldn't even play before) but still leaves a lot to be desired. No way to quickly swap between across and down clues, and it won't mark a crossword as complete even when everything is green after checking grid. Why is it so hard to build a reader app? Offline mode doesn't work for most articles, because the app loads them in a web view. If you lock the screen while reading an article and then unlock the screen, the app will force a reload of the article your were reading. This is fine if you are on a good network connection, as it will take a second or two. However when you are on a poor network it can take a minute. Poor design choice. Edit: Deducting a star for constantly having to sign in

You get a listing of articles, which looks normal. But you cannot read the articles, making the app utterly useless. (What happens? You click on the article and that leads to an invitation to subscribe. But I've already subscribed! I have the email from WSJ to confirm that!) I emailed Customer Support but I'm not confident that the prompt I followed actually sent the email. I'd read this complaint elsewhere before subscribing.

Paid subscriber here. The news is great, but this app is so buggy that it is difficult to use. Lately, about 1/3 to 1/2 of the articles won't open when clicked. The only solution is to click "share", then "copy link" then past into a browser to read the article. Buggie, stories often don't load or open. No other app install/reinstall/clear cache/force stop as this app. And it is required multiple times of day. Also, WSJ is militant in limiting the # of logins you can have on devices, so you are constantly having to re-login. A greedy, anti-consumer company, so they make you jump thru all sorts "verification" checks when you first subscribe. For the cost of a subscription to WSJ, you would expect much better.

I have an app-only subscription. The major problem is that the app opens some of the stories in the browser instead of continuing in the app. This situation has improved over the year in that recently I've been able to read many of these without browser warnings about using up my free views for the month. I like WSJ's content, but the app itself is barely functional. Clicking on a banner notification tries to open the article in a browser instead of in the app. Clicking on an article link elsewhere also opens in a browser instead of the app. Searching by byline sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, and you can't click on a byline in an article to see what else that person has written. This app is terrible, it's just a web browser limited to just the WSJ. I came over from reading the WSJ on Kindle Newsstand for the last 10+ years...I always thought that app was clunky, I had no idea how bad it could get! I'm repeatedly asked to sign in as the app brings me to an article that's paywalled. Some articles refuse to use dark mode so at night or in the morning my phone will suddenly sear my eyeballs. The app is alright. It scrolls well and searching by byline goes about as well as one can hope, meaning not well at all. The gripe that led to this review is that articles have a random chance of opening not in the app, but through the in-app web browser. When this happens, there's no option to save articles and sometimes I am prompted to subscribe/login to read the article, which takes me back to the app which then opens the article online and so the article remains unread. Unacceptable.

The app is well designed and easy to use. However, I need to log-in every time I click to read an article that pops up as a notification. It's a bit dumb that a news app would require you to consistently log back on. It's like if Outlook on your phone would require you to enter your log-in every time you wanted to check an email. I'm actually considering unsubscribing to be honest.

The app frequently doesn't remember me, and i need to sign in repeatedly.. Sometimes it hangs up or crashes during sign in process. Also, i dislike that articles can't be saved to Pocket for TTS. Otherwise the app functions similarly to other news apps. Just unacceptable to have major IT problems when paying a significant amount for a subscription (more than other subscriptions), and for a product devoted largely to business and technology journalism.

Notification features where new and breaking stories pop up in my notification center don't always load. Article links sometimes take me to different article. If this is fixed I'd rate at 5 stars. Update - Same issues, now it will frequently log me out, or think that its logged out, despite the fact that I'm logged in, resulting in a game of trying to log in and out to view articles.

Offered me a 4 week trial. After turning off my app (been 5 days of trial) the trial no longer works. So I try to sign in and apparently I never created new account so I can't sign in. But there is no option to create an account, only sign in. So not only am I unable to create an account but the so-called "4 week free trial" actually expired after 5 days. Now I'm locked out completely. What a waste of time. The app froze on me constantly too. I had to restart the app every 10-15 minutes.

This app never works for me. Always signs me out. I sign back in and still cannot access full articles. I pay every month and get zero service. After a long wait on the phone I spoke with the representative who told me to uninstall and reinstall the app. This Nintendo 64-style solution proved to be short lived, and I am still unable to access full length articles. Having to uninstall and reinstall the app to read one article is completely unacceptable.

This app and the company did NOT allow me to view full articles even after signing up for an account and paying for the service. When I asked the support team they had no idea what I was referring and asked that I resubmit a trouble ticket. After stating I would like a refund they simply referred me to Google support. Seriously disappointed in what I would have considered a good purchase.

I have had an online subscription to the WSJ for fifteen years. I'm about to drop it. With every other app on my phone, I only have to log into the app ONCE, when I set up a new phone. The WSJ app consistently and persistently forgets logins, requiring me to log in over and over again. It is very annoying and unacceptable. The FT app remembers my login -- I'm about to switch to FT full time.

Never received one delivery of the actual paper, despite paying for the print and digital subscription. They charge your account days before the actual renewal date, and don't refund any renewal. The cancellation process is aggravating. It took me 20 minutes, and I had to call and listen to somebody give me offer after offer when I really just wanted to cancel. The actual stories and reporting were just fine. It's similar to any other reputable news source, just way more aggravating.

There is almost always a message telling me there was an error loading an article, even when the article successfully loads. The messages is imposed over the article as I scroll, which makes it annoying as I scroll through. I also am not a fan of how the sections are organized. Glad I only played $1 for a two month trial. MSN Money is way better.

Love the fact that I have access to all the great news content from WSJ, but there's a glitch in the Android app that shows an error message when I try to access an article from the notification pull down tray. I can still see the article, but there's an error message super imposed on top of it that obscures parts of the article. I've emailed WSJ about this buy the problem persists. The monthly subscription fee is too high for me to have to deal with this glitch.

When you get a breaking news alert and click on it, it often comes up with some kind of error message hovering on it. Most of the time you can still read the story anyway although sometimes it will redirect you to log in. But if I go into the app and look up the same story I can read it just fine. Other than this problem with the alerts no complaints.

WSJ is my preferred news source, but starting a few months ago, it can't seem to regularly recognize me as a subscriber. As a result, I often have to login before reading an article that I receive email and Android-driven notices about. Articles pop up with just a paragraph or two and an annoying watermark that says content isn't available right now. However, it always is after I relog in. Tech support says to uninstall and reinstall the app, but that makes no difference.

Was a good app. The May 29 update doesn't work . It logged me out and taping log in just blinks the screen and nothing happens. Haven't been able to login since. The app is a data hog compared to other papers. Another fault is it always wants to be logged in. You can't download and read off line ex. Read during a flight is not possible without a wifi connection.

Easy to subscribe, difficult to un-subscribe. The only way to do it is by calling a number (not working in the week-ends), wait a long time to talk with someone that then will waste even more of your time trying to convince you not to unsubscribe. I think un-subscribe should at least as simple as subscribing: there should be a huge button somewhere in your Manage profile section of the app. That a journal as prestigious as WSJ has to use these cheap tricks to get an extra month of bill is lame

This app is very weak. It claims it downloads overnight and keeps 7 days of issues. However, if you try to access that without WiFi you will find that they mostly don't exist. You will need a wifi connection to get most articles and virtually all pictures. Just experienced this on an international flight. Has been an issue for multiple years and many complaints from their users but they don't want to fix it for some reason, or they don't know how.

The WSJ app never works, which makes my subscription a total waste of money since I'm rarely on my desktop PC when I need to access articles. Every time I click a WSJ article in Twitter, the app gives me nothing but the spinning arrow. The only way I can get to an article is by searching for it in a web browser, so I usually have to give up rather than waste time trying to find it that way. WSJ is the only one of dozens of apps/links I have this issue with so it is definitely the app.

Many problems with login, both Android app and browser/website. These arose bc my wsj account and my Barron's account were sharing cookie storage but had different login credentials, so being logged into one caused the other to say both that i was logged in and that articles were all locked. So whenever I switched from reading one to the other, i had to first log out, then login. After some years of being told by customer service that they could not change my account name to fix this, they did.

The Wall Street Journal is not cheap. For the coat of a subscription, we should get a much better app than this. If left open in the background, it invariably drops your session, forcing you to log back in. There are often links to stories on the WSJ website, which, when clicked, prompt you again for login credentials. Etc. A clumsy experience, overall. At a premium price, to boot.

Reading/page formats are different for each device.....phone, tablet, lap top.....very confusing. On tablet the app frequently stops working during reading, usually around the opinion, business sections requiring closing and reopen the app.....very annoying. Delivery of the product is no where near the journalism professionalism. Have been a reader since 1955....about 64 years.

Borderline perfect, the only issue is that sometimes when you go back to the home screen while you're reading an article, and you switch back to the app, it acts like you're not signed in. To fix it you can just hit back once and go right back into your article and you dont actually have to sign in. Otherwise, the app is fast, well organized, and very easy to use. That said; I'm using a flagship phone so I dont know how well the app performs on other devices.

The cost for WSJ is out-of-family high compared with other quality journalism. I expect a phenomenal app, and this one isn't it. Unhappy that I receive notifications to read articles that I've already read. That's an easy one to fix. Unhappy that I can't seem to find settings to fine-tune data usage. Something that possibly only downloads the text without photos. Or downloads article intros but I can pick and choose what to load. Happy with "today's paper" and "next article" features.

Several problems: First, the smartphone app works beautifully, but when logging onto the laptop, the website does not recognize that you have a subscription. Secondly, there is no way to cancel the subscription on your phone. You must log into Google Play on your laptop in order to be able to cancel the subscription. These are serious flaws, and considering how expensive the monthly subscription is, it's really not worth the aggravation. This has no bearing on the content of WSJ, or the performance of the smartphone app itself. But you're better off subscribing through their website, not through Google Play.

It never ceases to amaze that such a great newspaper can have such a poor App. Regularly experience wrong story links (choosing one headline takes one to a different article). And really guys - I have been an online reader for more than 15 years - do you really need me to repeat my sign-in once a week using my regular device, from home? This is thoroughly frustrating - does the delivery guy demand proof of payment once a week before delivering the print version? Your App sucks.

this app gets you the news you need, but they could do such a better job with it. the sign in is really messed up. everytime I want to read a story on my phone, I have to sign in. if I want to read another article after finishing one, it sometimes asks me to log in all over again. I have several other apps that can manage to save my login credentials without me having to login this frequently, and I wish I could say the same about the wsj app. messages to the dev team are unhelpful.

This app needs a lot of work. It will refresh and take me to the top of the feed without prompt, making me scroll through dozens of stories to get back to my place. After clicking on some of the stories I am prompted to sign in to read them, which I have obviously already done to read the paper. Ridiculous that the app is this bad considering they are shifting to digital deliveries

I'm not sure if articles are updated regularly. Dark theme ability is good. Less strain on eyes. But this app is a data guzzler. Chewed through 1GB of data within 10 days even though I had selected the option to restrict download to Wi-Fi only. I'm trying a couple of other things. If that doesn't help, I'll need to uninstall.

Updated on 10/8/18. The app now crashes every time I try to read a story. The update just made it worse! The app stopped working for me. I'm a subscriber but after the latest update the app reports that I'm logged in but will not allow me to enter a login. I called. They say they are aware of the problem. But it's been a month and no change. Just give us the old version that worked username (email)
