Rosetta Stone is a great tool to help learn some basics in a language, I'm interested to see how much I will learn after finishing the Spanish course!

I have the all time subscription, this app doesn't work as well as it used to on my older phone but I still enjoy using it. it's very slow on launch but once it's finally on the main menu I managed to recover my progress.

I love Rosetta Stone, I am a long time user and I also use Duolingo. Sometimes I like using them in tandem, but overall I prefer Rosetta Stone. even though they've gone back to only offering subscriptions, I'd highly recommend them to anyone. I bet Sapphire is beyond cool.

word pronunciation is embarrassing. audio captures awfully and has made the app hard to open. picture formatting is rough for phone screens

Enjoyable

This is now my favorite language learning platform. Besides the basic lessons, there are live videos, on-demand videos, interactive videos, opportunities to record your reading in the language you are studying and so much more! I feel like I am learning faster with this app than I was with Duolingo and I am definitely understanding just about everything I hear in the language I am studying. Many people have commented that I speak well and even have the accent down. Thank you Rosetta Stone!

Rosetta Stone allows me to go at my own pace, and drii down on words and phrases. Good stuff!

New Edit: 5 star for almost everything, but the Italian refuses to recognize I said anything most of the time in the pronunciation lesson. I don't know if it will continue to work in the other parts, or if it broke down completely. I downloaded Swedish, Italian, Spanish, and French several days ago. I do a lesson of each one every day. Italian is the ONLY ONE that tells me everything is wrong. It also, occasionally, tells me I'm too loud or too quiet. No rhyme or reason to that. Sigh

Probably, they have the most awful curriculum. During the lessons your primary objectuve is to remember 3-4 words and then repeatedly pick the corresponding images for 15 bloody minutes. Thus you don't actually learn and understand the material, but rather jag (4 words!) to finish the 'lesson'. I can read and am capable of memorising 4 words, so just give me the final test and let me go, for I can't spend 2 hours on funny pictures. I'm sorry my uni decided to outsource teaching to this company.

This is one of the best apps if you are serious about really learning a language in a easy way without struggling to buy course books etc, then its the best app . but theres only small amounts of lessons that are free the whole language course is paid.. but its better than learning few words on duolingo which has nothing to do with real life conversations i would recommend you this i really want the app to make more lessons free like if we could watch ads to unlock it then that would great.

I thought the Rosetta stone I had included "digital downlaod" for use with my phone. I have not used in years, and went to go back only to my surprise I only have lesson 1 not 1,2, and 3 that I purchased years ago. I call and am now told that was only a temporary usage for mobile, even though my Rosetta Stone says digital download included with purchase. Now I have to purchase again. I will now be on the look put for a different language learning app.

Definitely worth the money, although obviously difficult. If you feel you need an app to learn on the go, this should be your go to!

app is completely incapable of understanding anything you say. will tell you repeatedly your saying it wrong then mark it perfect when you say " what the ***" do you think I'm saying.

I bet there will be no further improvements to the "lifetime" Rosetta Stone Classic 2024 app going forward. Typical enshitification tactic by Rosetta Stone. Edit: Notice the developer says nothing about future development/updates for Rosetta Stone Classic, lifetime now means abandonware when they want more money.

good so far. Sometimes it doesnt pick up words at all when spoken. but thats overshadowed by how fun it is to use this app.

after using this app for years I can say save your money. the app get worse every time I use it. Using the speaking portions actively make you want to quit learning . the Ai voice detector is buggy and i have had people siting next to me say you are say it right as the app keep saying it is incorrect. if i was not gifted a lifetime membership I would never use it again. only giving it two stars because you can learn very basic sentences and vocabulary from it

Great feedback on pronunciation. Good pace. Each lesson is only 10 min long, so you can stop to complete other activities and return later! This encourages me to continue.

Another app that isn't authentic in its teaching, giving you basic phrases and still not accepting correct pronunciation even after other apps and even native speakers confirm you to be correct. Honestly, does this app even have native speakers that help with the development of this app? How is it struggling this much with understanding accurate speech? The app gets way too much praise for something so overpriced and hard to use.

I wish they would dive right into tourist phrases. But method works pretty well. ---- Update (2026): In 2 years I hardly ever bothered using this app, preferring Earworms, Drops, and audiobook courses instead. This app is clunky and the lesson sequence does not teach travel basics first, which is what I wanted. Also they do not honor the spirit of the lifetime subscription. They have migrated to a new app (Sapphire) but are blocking lifetime subscribers from accessing it. Seems dishonest.

As I have a lifetime subscription (for now), I dip in and out of it. I find it has a role. The style is boring and lessons are repetitive. It's slow and won't teach useful language if you just need some quick basics. HOWEVER, if you like understanding the language foundations, it's pretty good for that with good audio tracks. It also helps me with pronunciation. You need to combine it with other resources. I just use the core lessons, which is tolerable. I combine it with other resources.

You can only use this app if you have an exisiting sub. If you don't, it leads you to Saphire, an app which not all phones can (apparently) use. My phone is fairly new (a couple years old). Too old for Saphire apparently. 0/10. Horrible. Use a book, I guess.

This is the app to download if you have an older account, like I do (from around 2021). Until today, I was using the website on my laptop, but since my computer is down, I've figured out that the other Rosetta Stone app (Sapphire) is not compatible with older accounts. I found this Classic app when I tried going to the website on my phone. I was able to continue where I left off on the website.

They don't give direct translations, but you pictures instead, so you learn the languages the way a child would learn a language. Very easy and fun to use and makes it a convenient task to study daily! Great for easy daily study.

Hi everyone. I'm an English teacher and I've been using this app to practice Italian. I recommend it to everyone.

I had the entire complete set to learn Spanish yes ago and lost the password and account info to get into it so I was seriously bummed out for a long time (bcuz i in no way could afford to replace the set). I just discovered how to get back into my account so I can continue learning, I'm absolutely THRILLED!!!

Always have enjoyed learning by sight and figuring things out. Rosetta is a great way to learn in a different style from most other apps.

awesome, but would be nice to have more just audio no clicking, and also a progress bar within the lessons. But the "non-translation" style learning is great. As I learn multiple languages I'm not cross translating back and forth like I do in English to German, just Spanish based on an action or an image. Super helpful.

I have a $1,200 samsung android smartphone. and I downloaded Rosetta stone to help me learn Spanish more fluently....and in the app I can't speak into the microphone.....I have to keep skipping my lessons because the microphone in the app is worthless. my phone 📱 is not a problem, I speak fluently in english and Spanish.

I have been enjoying learning espanol with the aid of Rosetta. I bought the disk set fifteen years ago, to learn Spanish. I had to give up and start learning German. I tried for funf days then, went back to Spanish. Rosetta stone, classic is a good teaching aid. clearly, I am not applying myself. lol

Images and Audio no longer load on mobile app lesson screen on my tablet. The help icons appear at the bottom of screen, except the Answer icon is replaced by the Rosetta Stone Classic logo. I checked microphone enabled, cleared app cache, uninstalled/rebooted tablet/reinstalled. All works fine in web version and on my Samsung Galaxy phone; just the app on Galaxy S10FE tablet is no longer working. Even past lessons I completed with this tablet no longer show images/audio on lesson pages.

TOP HAT LEARNING!! I DON'T KNOW WHO'S BETTER: BABBELL, DUOLINGO, Ai, or Rosetta!!! 😁

I don't it's good as a stand alone tool for learning language but it seems good to atleast start on one. it's very good at making you remember words which is essential in the beginning.

This is a great language app for if you want to learn a new language! It isn't stressing you out with any adds, calm based learning, and overall great way to slowly build the language you're trying to learn. C'est bien! 5 etoille!

it's slow, it's clunky, it's hard to see the pictures or work out what the little time of day clock thing is actually trying to depict. You have to have some knowledge of the language too, to even stand a chance of getting anything right, otherwise it's really demoralising. The voice recognition is hit and miss too, and given that there is zero grammar tuition it seems weird that more emphasis isn't given to the speech side, since that's typically the part that people struggle with the most?

app is good for advanced, dont recommend it for people learning from scratch. Also having quite a trouble with pronunciation tasks, as doesn't matter how many times I say the word even simple as "sa", app doesn't catch it at all and after time being deems as incorrect. I don't know what you want me to do, scream to my phone so it actually would hear? 🤷

I only learned the first level of French and that was all I could do otherwise I would have to pay so I only learned like drink, eat, boy, girl, woman, and man, which you did on every first level and some of the words weren't correct when I looked them up or went to a different app to learn.

the app's menu background is the same color as the menu font so it cant be read. i asked their support to check it out and they acted like i was accessing their jenky app on a Nokia phone. lmfao. i was about to throw down a subscription but not now. lol. the app dev isnt able to work on the latest android roll out as of june 2026. and it has Beatrice the crochette master running tier 1 tech. not a good look for a cash supported venture.

It's good. Much more thorough than Duolingo, and you learn new things and actually progress here. I'd say that I miss the fun interface from Duolingo, but the UI is good enough. if you're more serious about learning a language, go for this one.

Amazing, *6 years* still cant make the playback buttons big enough to press. Crazy. Definitely never giving you money ever again Edit: Edit: Edit: **5 years** later UI is still awkward and buggy and the play buttons are too small to even register a touch most of the time, or registers a false choice. Also forces you to hold phone landscape; this seems like it was designed for tablets. Contacted support and left feedback multiple times since 2020

Teach Basic, you must take classes in a School, but it help to practive vocabulary, dont expect grammar teaching, just samples, no explanations

absolutely amazing! I love this learning program. the style is unique and so easy to learn with! I am a visual learner so the pictures REALLY help and it's so much fun. It'd be the best mobile game if it was one! sooooo worth the money. I'm fascinated with languages and especially French, which is what I'm learning. I just completed the Unit 1 Language basics!!! I already know so much and I think I'm a natural! the picture word combos are great for visual learners. merci! J'adore.

I did the one time purchase for the lifetime use on the Rosetta Stone Classic app. It worked fine for a while it seemed to work fine on my galaxy Z-Fold 6, Android phone. Now, it won't let me use the app or log into the app. BTW, I was forced to give one star in order to post this review. My preferance was zero stars.

I've grown to really appreciate this approach as closely paralleling how we all learn our own first language... without formal rules and list memorizing. After each lesson I try to remember and "figure out" what I saw and heard in the lesson. Quite nice

I really don't like the way that it teaches you things because nothing really sticks and sometimes the pictures are really confusing. my mom likes this app but I genuinely hate using it. I started using Duolingo and I have learned so much more, faster and what you learn is much more relevant to everyday conversations than when I used this. Honestly I like the concept and it probably works really well for others, but I can't learn this way and for the 7 years I used this I never learned much.
